Recommended: Personal goals for education
“Success is whatever each person defines it to be for himself or herself (Womack, C.D. 2003,10 page 46).” Learning is a never ending cycle; rather through formal or informal training. People need to be prepared to learn in order to be successful both in education and their career. Educational goals combined with personal learning styles, appropriate resources, a proper writing process and academic integrity leads to academic success. “Success is not a brilliant strategy; it’s about a brilliant execution (Womack, C.D. 2003,10 page 48).” Goal setting can lead to success through motivation. I need to remember to trust other people and allow them to solve problems or situations that I feel would be best handled by me. My preferred ethical lens is reputation. I listen to my intuition and determine what character traits and virtues will best serve the community. I feel that examining each situation in its own context is better than just putting them all together and hoping that the solution works for all. My personal ethics impact my decision making all the time. They are personal beliefs and morals that define the person I am. I believe in the value of equality, treating people the same regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation. When making any decision I need to think about how this will affect others and if it will show them respect and all the things I wish to be treated with. Ethics apply to professional responsibilities in that there is usually an employee handbook and a code of ethics that each employee must sign. These usually state things about sexual harassment, physical violence, discrimination, etc. and states what will happen if you as an employee violate any of those things. The Code of ethics varies with profession, for teachers part of their code is that they act in a professional manner and do not share confidential information with anyone that is not immediately involved in the situation. In hospitality one of the things is focusing on discrimination and protecting the property of guests; such as credit card numbers, phone numbers and any other personal information. The same basic ideas apply in social life as well. It can be put as simple as this, treat others as you want to be
Ethics is structured according to the code of conduct of people, including consideration of every person’s opinion. Attempts are then made to establish a fundamental principles and theories that could rationalize and harmonize people’s diverse moral beliefs. Ability to identify the right behaviors are supposed to improve the relationship between people, therefore, making the world a better place. There are two standards of ethics namely organizational ethics and personal ethics. This paper will focus organizational ethics and personal ethics on how they
In today’s ever changing world of education, students need to be taught how to take ownership of their learning. Goal-setting is a tool which can be used to increase student’s responsibilities in creating intrinsic ownership in their own learning (Madden 1997). Dale Schunk, an education specialist (2009), found that when successful people had been interviewed about their successes, they attributed goal-setting and self-discipline as two of their major keys to success. The ideas of setting goals and attaining them as a form of success on a personal level are tangible. A psychological study conducted in 2007 (Baumeister, R. F., Vohs, K. D., & Tice, D. M.) demonstrated how intrinsic and personal setting and achieving goals are to the “self” which effects self-efficacy, self-image, and personal success.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
Ethics is a word that can be used loosely, so it’s important to understand the meaning of this question by first discussing what is meant by personal ethics or professional ethics.
Apart from the diversity aspects, I faced personal experiences for ethical decision making. I obeyed the policies and regulations of my organisation. This led me encountering of different challenges in the organisation but my ethical decision making power enabled me to overcome them. For instance, I was working on a project on which two teams were assigned. For some reasons, the project was delayed and management wanted to know the reasons and mistakes causing the delays in the project. When management enquired me, I responded with unbiased decision for informing management about mistakes from both teams leading to delays in the project. In order to decide while being unbiased, I felt it my ethical obligation towards the project and organisation to put all the
I think it is important for each person have a personal set of ethics that they follow. These ethics can be important in the workplace, but can also be important in your own day to day life. I feel the ethical code I follow is relevant to both. I do not feel I would act a way in my work place that I would not act in my personal life, and vice versa.
Have you ever failed in a goal and never tried to achieve it again? In the article Kevin Kruse has stated, “ Don’t turn temporary failures into total meltdowns or excuses for giving up”. (Kruse,8). Setting goals is important for teens because you need to have motivation for the upcoming year, you need a purpose, it is why you want to try harder. You will wake up everyday knowing you need to get up and fight your goals. For instance, a goal that will help you conquer your goal is number 2, you have to make your goals specific. If not you cannot start a goal, if you do not have a map on your mind on how the game is going to be, in other words give yourself and idea on how you will achieve your goal. In my opinion teens should set goals for
During the course of six weeks, I learned how to set realistic goals and understand what a goal is. Before entering my EDCP class, I assumed goals were very minute things such as going to lacrosse practice or making the team in high school. I never thought to plan for school assignments let alone my future. Goals are characterized by 5 aspects Specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and timeframe (SMART). Goals are what set students apart we all want something different whether it be academic, financial, personal, professional, and health and wellness goals are dear to my heart.
Imagine being the top of your class in 1983.Now, think of your biggest goal that you ever had and accomplishing that. That would be amazing right?Just think about that and how great it would feel to overcome your biggest goal.Setting goals for yourself often lead to great accomplishments.Making accomplishments usually makes people feel satisfied. This is important because it shows how hard someone works to get where they are now.Accomplishments often happen to people who have good self-esteem, have confidence in themselves, and feel fulfilled.
My personal ethics center around four main standards: integrity, excellence, caring, and positive attitude. Each of these standards has been formulated through my religious beliefs, family interactions, and my life’s path and experiences.
Ethics in the workplace is a very important thing to have. Without a sense of ethicality in the workplace there are many things that could go wrong. You could even end up losing a job because of a lack of ethics, or other consequences could be felt due to a lack of caring or morality. The workplace is a place that you should show respect and dignity, and a deeper sense of ethics is very important in order to uphold these senses of morality. Workplace ethics, which include such things as behavior, integrity, commitment, teamwork, and other things, are important, if not required, in most workplaces and can help to improve performance and morale for workers and employers.
SMART Goals is a statement of the important results a supervisor is working to accomplish. It is designed in a way to foster clear and mutual understanding of what constitutes expected levels of performance and successful professional development, which include both Performance Goals and Development Goals created using the SMART Method
Goals, plans for the future, hopes and dreams yet to come true. It is what all of mankind has used to thrive on, the thought of what they wish to soon achieve. But it all starts with one question they have to ask themselves. “What do I want?”, “What do I want to be known as?”, “How will I get there?”. Asking myself these questions had me decide what I want to achieve in the long road ahead of me. By the end of high school, I want to participate in at least two extracurricular activities. When I get into college, I want to have had my major planned, then after, find a career I love. One more goal of mine is a personal goal, and that is to learn Spanish.
I have never really thought about why I am an ethical person, but I would like to think that I am. I guess I have a tendency to run on autopilot and never feel the need to justify the small choices I make. Obviously I think a lot more before making important decisions, but now that I think about it, I should probably put a bit more emphasis on those smaller decisions too. The most important sources that have influenced my values are my line of work, my career aspirations, and my upbringing.
Academic success involves more than just attending class sessions, taking notes, reading or going through text books, and making sure to study right before exams or tests. Learning, just like any other activity involves possessing and executing a complex set of skills that require constant practice. It also requires a lot of commitment and focus, while on the other hand making sure to balance both academic and social life. Academic success plans therefore present an issue requiring an exploration into how it should be conducted, ways to achieve it and the overall benefits that come with it.
