Imagine being the top of your class in 1983.Now, think of your biggest goal that you ever had and accomplishing that. That would be amazing right?Just think about that and how great it would feel to overcome your biggest goal.Setting goals for yourself often lead to great accomplishments.Making accomplishments usually makes people feel satisfied. This is important because it shows how hard someone works to get where they are now.Accomplishments often happen to people who have good self-esteem, have confidence in themselves, and feel fulfilled.
Good accomplishments such as graduating college at the top of your class or earning enough money to get something that you have want, gives people confidence.Confidence makes people feel like they can do anything. It allows people to overcome obstacles along the way to success. While trying to accomplish your goals, be around people you know and feel comfortable with to help you try and reach your goal. A head coach at the University of California in Los Angeles,John Wooden, once said,“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work.”Accomplishments also make other people have good self-esteem.
Generally speaking, success isn’t just about what you accomplish in life, it’s how you accomplished it and the impact you
The importance of becoming an achiever is that I will have a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction and fulfillment in life. The steps necessary to reach this goal will take dedication to which I am committed to complete and not side-step or put off, discipline which I am training myself to study and not party because practice makes perfect which result in better grades, determination which I am using by not letting failure deter me from reaching the destination because I see the glass half full not half empty and optimism which I am full of because I see the best outcome in my favor and see me reaching and going beyond the goals I have set for
Setting goals for yourself creates an individual growth. In the article, “Why we are looking at the ‘value’ of college all wrong” by Valerie Strauss, Nelson discusses how an independent learner is able to teach themselves and learn from the challenges they tend to face. “The educated graduate is an independent learner…able to direct his or her own learning in accordance with the challenges that life presents in the circumstances of his or her own life.(Strauss 1)” For example, I want to become Registered Nurse; therefore, I write that down as one of my goals. However, I would then have to write everything else in order to become a Registered Nurse. Having a goal set that I want to become a RN, I now have something to strive at and to motivate myself to reach that goal. Therefore, creating goals helps establish what direction I am trying to go in, and also allows me to figure out how to solve a problem. Another example is if I failed a test, I will try to examine the errors within my work; however, I will then create a goal for myself to make sure I do better on test the next time. Finding the errors and creating goals to fix the errors makes me an independent learner. I am taking the charge that I want to do better; therefore, I am going to create a goal to help me succeed. By fixing the errors, I then challenge myself inside and outside the
The two novels, which were read, demonstrated exemplary details of the ISU topics from which we were supposed to choose. The Hunt for Red October, by Tom Clancey, and Fatal Terrain, by Dale Brown were the two books being read and analyzed. These two novels are very similar in theme. Even though all of the given themes can be linked to, and have stunning similarities to one another, the themes which most protrude in these works, are success, and ambition. The ambition aspects in both of the books bear stunning resemblance to one another. In both cases, the kind of ambition illustrated among the characters is shown in a hands-on way. In both novels, new technology is invented, and new ways of succeeding are patented for use to have an edge over the competition. Because of the character's ambitious drive, they will achieve success.
Personal success is also a big part of living well. 'There is only one success . . . to be able to spend your life in your own way, and not to give others absurd maddening claims upon it.'; This quote by Christopher Morley describes what is really meant by personal success. Personal success has to do with being happy. One can only be truly happy if they are happy and secure with themselves. Personal success is about being yourself and not being afraid to do so. It is about not letting others dictate your life or make you feel that you have to change who you are.
Accomplishing goals and personal records is huge and leaves the brain extremely satisfied with itself. It’s another reason to get up everyday, even if school/work is stressing you out. When you see yourself constantly improving, you can’t just stop, you keep going and getting better. It’s an endless cycle of needing to improve and you gain confidence because you are doing so much better than at the beginning. The mirror is much easier to look into in the morning and you find yourself saying “hey good lookin!” All of this due to you being mentally hooked on being the best you possible.
Have you ever failed in a goal and never tried to achieve it again? In the article Kevin Kruse has stated, “ Don’t turn temporary failures into total meltdowns or excuses for giving up”. (Kruse,8). Setting goals is important for teens because you need to have motivation for the upcoming year, you need a purpose, it is why you want to try harder. You will wake up everyday knowing you need to get up and fight your goals. For instance, a goal that will help you conquer your goal is number 2, you have to make your goals specific. If not you cannot start a goal, if you do not have a map on your mind on how the game is going to be, in other words give yourself and idea on how you will achieve your goal. In my opinion teens should set goals for
Teachers are what make the doctors, lawyers, policemen and the list goes on, yet many people still do not consider their job a profession. Argumentors ideology is a bit logical because not all students graduate high school; enter college/university, graduate and end up in a profession. Students are the reaped crop and if some are not delivering fruit, how can others tell that the students were taught properly? Also, as seen through Savage Inequalities: Children in American School’s, by Jonathan Kozol, some teachers should not be allowed in that field. Teachers are supposed to instruct, engage, and place attention to the students, but if they do not have a passion to educate the students, they will receive that negative atmosphere in the classroom and decide no to learn. In the beginning, teachers were mainly women because the government did not have to pay them too much. Currently, we have both male and female instructors doing the job. Teachers are educating the future, so they should receive proper education and tools, like a lot of other professions, teachers should undergo a series of lessons and tests every two years, so they can be kept up to date on the methodologies of teaching. Furthermore, in order to teach the children properly, teachers need the right materials for that peculiar subject. Lastly, teachers should receive multicultural training, so they know what types of students they are dealing with.
