College and Career Research Paper I’m in the top 25% of my class with a grade point average of 83. To put it into perspective my rank is 257 out of approximately 1070 students at Skyline High School. I’m currently in the JROTC program and I have also been in the school senate for about a year. I know of two people who would be willing to write a positive letter of recommendation for me; my cluster teacher Ms. Juliann Tigert, and my freshman JROTC instructor, Sergeant Lisa Vereen. Both teachers know me to some extent at a personal level and know how I am in school and away from school. Both of the teachers know that I volunteer a lot of my time for various activities, and that I am a quick learner with the capability to excel in whatever I set out to do.
I have participated in various community service projects; for example one in which as a class

Skyline HS is simply too crowded so I look to see a small campus and a low faculty/student ratio. To be specific I look for an experience in a college with no more than 15,000 students. Diversity is also a must. It’s important to me for a school to have a diverse student body.
In the My Next Move assessment my highest scoring areas were enterprising and social. The enterprising career are has to do with starting and carrying out business projects. It matches me because I like making a move instead of waiting and talking. The social career area has to do with working with others. I enjoy hearing others and giving advice in order to help so this is why I scored high on the social career area.
One career in specific: property manager, called my attention. The basic skills required closely match what I want to do. The required education is a bachelor’s degree or a GED depending on what scale the work is. The average starting salary is $28,490, median salary is $55,380, and the maximum salary is $123,790. The job growth is expected to continue to grow as average
I maintained an A average up until my eleventh grade year, by doing so, I was recognized as a member of the National Honors Society. This current year, I was recognized by Augusta University in receiving an award for academic achievement. The year of 2013 I was awarded the Most Valuable Cheerleader on the Washington Wilkes Football-Competitive cheerleading squad. As for leadership positions, I was elected 4-H president in the fifth grade and student council president my eleventh grade year.
The first requirement for consideration is an overall outstanding grade point average and the ability to maintain or improve upon that grade throughout my high school career. I believe I have done more than express my deep desire to achieve beyond that of my peers in and out of the classroom, and continue to do so to this day. When first appearing in the Wapato School system in the 7th grade, I had immense trouble maintaining any good grades. Now, I don’t blame this on anybody but myself, as I was never told throughout my childhood leading up to then that I should pay attention to my schoolwork. I know this may seem hard to believe, but I was simply considered more
Throughout my two years in high school, I have been trying to maintain a certain grade point average. I’ve passed two of my state tests already and I have yet to take my English II and U.S. History state test. I passed my Algebra I test in 8th grade with Proficient and my Biology I test my freshman year with Proficient. My grades fell off the first 9 weeks of this school year because I had a hard time understanding English II and I ended up scoring Basic on my 1st 9 weeks benchmark test. Now I have made a promise to myself that I will be advanced in everything from now on. I’ve been studying more and working in my SATP practice booklets and now my grades are improving. When I was in 2nd grade I was accepted into the Gifted/Excel class at Bentonia Gibbs up until my 7th grade year at Yazoo County Junior High. Ever since junior high, I have been in the advanced classes, and I hope that will help me with my plan to graduate as one of the top of my class.
My first experience that involved contribution to a community was in an organization known as girls as pearls. In this organization we participated in many volunteer activities, both domestic and global such as making dresses for girls in africa or volunteering at the samaritan ministry. Consequently, this early volunteerism experience influenced my involvement in the community as a high school student. I became involved in organizations such as key club, an organization focused in volunteerism. Additionally, I began to tutor middle school students and volunteering at the local church. Many of the volunteer activities that I have participate in involved children and this due to the reason that I want to be able to become a positive guide and role model for children. I want to contribute to their motivation of continuing their education and to reach for goals that they believe they can achieve. As a hispanic american I have been provided the opportunity of experiencing life from two different viewpoints which has provided me with various life lessons that aided in my development in becoming a successful and well- rounded
We're looking for the best of the best, students who enjoy working with and being around all sorts of different people (High School students, parents, and maybe even Guidance Counselors). Explain your experience with and desire to work with a diverse
Community service is something that I have always engaged. In college, I worked with chemically dependent children as both a caretaker and a mentor. After I graduated, I taught at-risk children in a community youth outreach program. To remain involved and aware of the focus of my studies during my first year of law school, I volunteered at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center teaching youth their basic legal rights. Essentially, we strove to empower kids by providing practical information about the legal system and to help them develop more favora...

Besides participating in extracurricular activities to belong to a specific group, students can also volunteer for community service. Community service teaches students responsibility, helps to build strong friendship bonds, and helps to make important business contacts. Students are taught responsibility when performing community service because they are no longer thinking about themselves. The students’ priorities are however, now to help those whom they are doing this se...
As an educated professional in my community, I would like to make a contribution to society and my community. My background in hours of community service has prepared me for this and shown me its value.
In order to see how far I am ‘fit’ with my intended career choice, I would like to assess on my personality types and intelligence first. According to the MBTI profile (http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp) and Holland Code test (http://personality-testing.info/tests/RIASEC.php) that I have done in the lesson, engineering and architectural drafters are my first career choices for the tests respectively. These experiences have afforded me opportunities to demonstrate my gifts and talents that had previously gone undiscovered. Through different community service opportunities, I either learned something new about myself or I was reassured something. These qualities include that I am creative, reliable, open-minded, passionate, and an effective team player. Community service changed my life by developing my character through enhancing my transferable skills, which allowed me to see the world differently. Everyone, from all walks of life, needs to in some way, shape, or form give back to the community because it will not only benefit the less fortunate but it will benefit the volunteers as well. Additionally, I learned about the wide variety of resources available to help the community. There are so many resources out there that people are ignorant to like certain shelters and food banks. Ultimately, community service taught me the greatest gift I could ever receive, how to be
