The results of My Career Match Profile were useful and accurate in assisting me to set and achieve my goals. The profile identified strengths, learning styles, improvements, careers and qualities. My career match gave me information about myself and what I would best suit. This information enabled and assisted me to set appropriate goals that can be achieved with my strengths and qualities. Two SACE capabilities that can be identified in my profile are Critical and Creative Thinking and Literacy. These capabilities can be identified in my profile as my dominate style an analyzer are often described as creative, quick thinking and inventive demonstrating Critical and Creative Thinking. I demonstrated citizenship and volunteering as I took part in volunteering at AVV Millennium Calisthenics and Dance Company. I took the time out of my days to help and participate in the community in order to help the company run their competition for the community. My volunteering consisted of manning and serving people in the canteen at their competition. Strategies I can take to improve and demonstrate citizenship include participating in more volunteering activities in the community for example Clean up Australia Day and Meals on Wheels. During this time I developed literacy, Critical and Creative thinking, Personal and Social and Ethical Understanding. My work experience helped me develop these capabilities as I had to communicate with the students and teachers with appropriate language. I had to apply skills and knowledge & understanding in order to get lessons taught to the students, which developed Critical & Creative thinking. I worked with a variety of students in which I had to interact, solve problems, make decisions and understand issues. These tasked also helped develop Personal & Social and Ethical Understanding. Strategies I could put in place in order to increase my learning if I was to complete another placement include having a positive and calm attitude throughout the experience. This will increase my learning as I would not have a negative mindset. As a result of my work experience I would like to work in that industry but it is not my first preference. I enjoyed the experience and the tasks that were involved but I am aiming for a job in medicine. If my first career choice is not successful my backup plan would be a career as a primary school teacher. My Career Action Plan has not changed from completing work
Growing up, my parents and other influential figures around me modelled the importance of community service through their continual volunteer work and dedication to improving the world around them. Whether it be participation in a well-attended project or persistent contribution to a helpful organization, those aforementioned individuals were formative in guiding me towards a path filled with opportunities for having an impact on my community.
The FOCUS 2 assessment revealed somewhat surprising details about myself. According to the assessment, the careers that I was “recommended” to pursue were practical and systematic careers in fields such as business, finance, and marketing. However, I plan to enter the field of music education, a field that does not fall into the career categories of “practical” or “systematic”. My goal is to be a high school band director for a time period, then to teach at the collegiate level after completing more degrees. I trust God to show me the paths I should take toward my eventual career.

Application of career theories to my own life allows for analyzing past and future career decisions. Holland’s Theory of Careers states that one’s vocation is an expression of self, personality, and way of life. There is an indisputable and fundamental difference in the quality of life one experiences if they choose a career one truly enjoys, versus choosing a career one detests. A true testament to the validity of Holland’s theory, my job/career choices reflect my interests, as well as the evolution of my personality (internal self). My first job as a fine jewelry specialist and second job as a make-up artist echo my love of the fashion world. As I matured and became less fascinated by presumed “glamour” careers, I became captivated by physical fitness, nutrition, and medicine; I received my national fitness trainer certificate so that I may become a personal trainer. Nevertheless, my career decisions do not fit uniformly into merely one career theory.

According to the skills profiler report, my current skill set are best matched with engineering, architecture, computer, mathematical and management careers. The Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale (CDSE) was developed by Karen Taylor and Nancy Betz to apply Albert Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy expectations to the domain of career decision making. Career decision self-efficacy was originally defined by Taylor and Betz as the individual’s belief that he or she can successfully complete tasks necessary in making career decisions. According to Holland (1985), the choice of a career is an extension of one’s personality into the world of work. Individuals choose careers that satisfy their preferred personal orientations. Holland developed six modal personal styles and six matching work envi¬ronments: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enter¬prising, and conventional. A person is attracted to the particular role demand of an occupational environ-ment that meets his or her needs. For example, some¬one who is socially oriented would seek out a work environment that provides interactions with others, such as nursing in a hospital setting. Holland and his colleagues have developed a number of instruments (e.g., the Self-Directed Search) designed to assist in identifying individual personality traits and matching those traits to occupational groups. Holland’s theory assesses each individual in terms of two or three most prominent personality types and matching each type with the environmental aspects of potential careers.
