The O*NET profiler is a career interest assessment designed to help identify work interest. The test contains 21 items that had to be placed in order of importance. In taking this assessment it was determined that Support was my highest work value and my score was 1.0. In achievement I scored a 0.50, in independence I score a .40, in working conditions I scored a .40, in relationships I scored a .30 and in recognition I scored a .10. When it comes to work importance there were many values to rate. I scored the highest in compensation and company practice with the results being 1.235. The Interest Profiler is just one of five O*NET Career Exploration Tools. The other tools are: The Computerized Interest Profiler — helps you find out what your work related interests are. It is similar to the paper-and-pencil Interest Profiler, except that you answer and score the questions on a computer. The Ability Profiler — helps you find out what kinds of jobs you can learn to do well. It can help you recognize where your strengths are and where you might need more training or education. The Work Importance Locator — helps you decide what is important to you in a job. It can help you identify occupations that you may find satisfying. The Work Importance Profiler — a computer-based version of the Work Importance Locator (O*NET Resource Center, 2000). These tools can be helpful when you look for what interest you the most about a career. It can also help you to identify a career that would fit you. Summary The assessment helped me to deeply think about my career and the things that I would want in the organization that I hope to work for. I believe it to be an accurate assessment and helps an individual put what is important to them into perspective. It is often helpful in career counseling to have an indication of where the client is in terms of career decision or indecision (Whiston. 2017). This tool
