It is important for an effective leader to set an example for others to follow so behaving ethically and professionally is extremely important. The leader should be working to gain equality and social justice for all. Social justice and equality for all is reached by engaging and intervening with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Although I feel that above mentioned ethical competencies are the ethical competencies that are most closely related to the characteristics of an effective leader committed to social justice all of the ethical competencies are related in some form. I see myself developing into this type of leader by working to create valuable and positive change and empowering others to become leaders that also create valuable and positive change that they believe in. I will empower others to gain a sense of identity and self to the mission, be a role model that inspires others, challenge others to take ownership of their work, and provide understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of others. Critical thinking allows for individual assessments of topics and can be applied to any question posed in any situation. It allows for individuals to think for themselves and evaluate situations on their own to determine the final outcome. In UNI 110 Critical Reading and Thinking my critical reading and thinking has grown vastly. In September my understanding of critical reading and thinking was a bear minimum of problem solving questions with one unique answer, after September I now understand critical reading and thinking requires precision, viewpoints, and facts.
