Leadership demands for skills, and abilities to address responsibilities of today’s challenges while thinking ahead into the future. Mehmet Karaarslan puts it in better words “Leadership is an interpersonal influence process of setting direction and inspiring others to achieve goals.” He has delineated eight tips of effective leadership values to build the “capabilities and performances of People” on the video.
1. Be proactive: being a proactive leader facilitates for a long and lasting impact on an organization. This kind of leader will take time to learn form pervious mistakes; he/she will engage and cooperate with his/her team leading by example and always looking for ways to improve. This I think is a forward thinking leadership that

Synergize: this kind of effective leading is building a team. This values the difference, which is the strength of a team. Effective leader will know the strength and weakness of their team members, which will help them delegate tasks to the right person at the right time. This does not mean that they will not train or let their team member try a new skill that they did not know initially, but it means that whenever there is a quick turnaround time needed, they know their team very well that they will assign the right person at the right time. In this kind of effective leadership, it does not mater on the composition of the team because the leader knows each persons talents and capabilities and will make use of the talents as needed and effectively.
5. Communicate your purpose and code of ethics: communication skills are important skills to effective leadership. Clear communication is imperative and valuable because there is less uncertainty. When a leader is capable of communicating the purpose and their code of ethics, the leader will have strong, dedicated team players that will support in making the vision come true. Planning and leading the change: Vision leads to change. Unless there is adequate planning with clear delegation of task, change fails. According to Kotter’s 8-step change model, the leader needs to be aware and define the urgency of the change project and disseminate the urgency to recruit a team that is convenience of the need for the change. The vision of the change project needs to be clear to be understood making effective communication imperative. In any leadership there is always some kind of obstacle that is faced, there will be someone that will try to resist the change; it is the duty of the leader to find ways to check for barriers and remove the obstacle by empowering the team. It is always beneficial to have a short-term vision where the company can see the progress of the change as team build on to the long-term vision. And finally, it is imperative that the change in noticed by others in the day-to-day activity. A leader that plans in leading change will be successful if these steps are followed especially in a hospital setting where there is diverse group of people working towards a common
Leadership is about taking personal and social responsibility for working with others to achieve common goals.
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
Some leaders have to develop major skills like “time management, prioritization, strategic thinking, decision-making, and getting up to speed with the job—to be more effective at work” (Mitchell). For many leaders developing this skill is very hard and will face many obstacles. A leader has to also have the skill and talent to be able to inspire others which is never an easy thing to do especially when the have to inspire others and guarantee they are happy with what they are doing and in the process motivated them to work smarter. In team leadership a leader has to be able to take the task of helping other and give them guidance around the
Write the specific elements of leadership you believe are at the heart of being a good leader; the values you prioritise. An example sentence could be: I believe in confronting issues head-on is the key to better communication.
· Creative Ability. Leaders must be positive. Always looking for possibilities, not perfection. This means that they must be open to different ways of doing things.
Sometimes leaders are glorified and other times they are criticized or taken for granted; whatever the case, leaders obviously play a vital role in the success or failure of any group, organization, city, state, or country. Unfortunately, leadership does not have a one-size-fits-all definition, but it clearly demands self-awareness, self-regulation, and sometimes, self-sacrifice. Leaders are both born and made. Some capabilities are inherited and others are learned through personal and professional experiences. It is important to remember that through all the research and differing perspectives, one common theme remains, true leadership is an influential process that constantly moves an individual or group forward. Leadership is not just a title or role placed upon us; a leader’s capabilities consists of passion, motivation, skills, traits, qualities, experiences, and choices that help improve the lives of the people around them.
The importance of having good leadership skills and connections, cannot be overly stressed. Combining good skills along with drive and determination is the true key to success. If an individual cannot learn to fully develop themselves, they cannot truly lead, nor will they be a dynamic component to groups they are a part of. Developing skills such as these can carry one to all places they desire to go and beyond. However, failure to do so could be self- destructive. Following instructions, being consistent, and having a great work ethic, are all admirable factors to have. With these skills intact, it would be easy for one to gain power and lead those who chose to follow, in the proper direction to achieve and maintain true success.
I believe leadership is important to me, my organization and our society in many ways. Leadership plays a vital role in development of both private and public sector. Therefore, it very important to have good leadership skills. Leaders set a direction for the rest of us; they help us see what lies ahead and how to achieve it; they encourage and inspire us. Without a good leadership a group of human beings quickly degenerates into argument and conflict, b...
Leadership is a subject studied for many years in the pursuit to understand the topic. It is a complex phenomenon, better studied across a wide array of scholarly fields. No matter what one believes or understands about the subject, the reality about understanding leadership is that it is a multidimensional subject that is best viewed or studied from the theory perspective rather than from the maxim. Leadership is a process, which involves influence, which occurs within a group context and it involves goal attainment. These components are used to define leadership as a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. These four components provide direction to understanding leadership theory. This theory provides the best approach to understanding the subject because it is grounded in the use of scientifically collected data that is used to create an explanation and then recommendation for leaders and or leadership situations. One should recognize that the theory is based on the examination of the topic from the standpoint of an empirically based explanation, grounded in scientific evidence and theory.
To inspire and influence others, a leader must have many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Jim Rohn, states, “ the challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.” (2010) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
A great leader once said “Leadership is not so much about techniques and methods as it is about opening the heart. Leadership is about inspiration-of oneself and others. Great leadership is about human experiences, not processes. Leadership is not a formula or a program, it is a human activity that comes from the heart and considers the hearts of others. It is an attitude, not a routine”. Leadership is all about understanding, contributing and bringing out a decision that is accepted and respected by all. For me leadership is only about three words: be, know, do. You should BE impartial with people. You should KNOW that your leadership is all about bringing the right decision and you fulfill it and you DO provide direction for example by setting goals.
In order to be a good manager or leader you must have good communication skills. Communication is everything when trying to accomplish many things; including teaching and guiding people within the workplace. In order to lead and build a progressing team of employees or successful group a manager or leader must be able to listen to their trainees needs, pay attention to what they excel in and what they may need improvement in. Building a game plan of how to help them succeed in areas that need improvement is a step in being a good and active leader.
Reflecting on my roles and accomplishments in leadership in business, I can define leadership as the creation of a favorable culture under which an individual or a group of people can successfully carry out their roles. Leadership is all about assessing the environment wherein tasks are handled, with an emphasis on applying different strategies to overcome the challenges while increasing the opportunities; thereby, enabling individuals to fulfill their given roles. Some of the elements of strong leadership involve setting and communicating clear visions and boundaries, giving people the latitude to perform their tasks, monitoring ongoing achievements against the established vision; and continually assessing opportunities for improvement. Others are the involvement of all individuals in business by encouraging them to own the goals of the organisation or projects, and embracing positivity through the application of caution, courage, and determination. A further understanding of my application of these leadership attributes can
The essence of leadership is very simple. It is to help people to perform to their maximum potential to achieve organizational goals or objectives. “True leadership must be for the benefit of the followers, not the enrichment of the leaders.” There are a variety of different leaders and leadership qualities that people possess that enable them to provide guidance, implement goals, and encourage people to complete a task. Leadership is an indispensable skill for everyone to learn because it involves the communication and relationship between higher authority figures and followers. Imagining a world with a lack of leadership, there would be no motivation for people to achieve goals and tasks. Leaders enable followers to realize their potential of developing leadership qualities through words and actions. The focus of leading a group or organization is to benefit the followers so that they can become leaders in the future. True leadership involves the development of communication and teamwork skills, working with followers that provide insight on improvements. Leadership embraces the form of different styles, the two major styles including authoritarian and democratic leadership styles. There are several different types of beneficial leadership styles that accommodate to the personality of a leader; however, the democratic leadership style creates more effectiveness and productivity than authoritarian leadership.
Leadership is not about just about your own values it is also about the values of the people in your organization. Clarifying your own values and understanding the values of others is the key to aligning values that can be shared. Shared values are the foundation blocks that enable people to build working relationships that are genuine and productive. A good leader takes the time to know his or her teammates on a personal level. A great leader learns about each person’s values, how they build trust, and what motivates this person to achieve excellence. They share the team’s values, their own values, and align the team to work together toward a shared goal or goals.
