My Greatest Accomplishments

Out of all the trophies I collected over the years from playing various sports, the biggest accomplishment I have ever achieved is making my way into college and starting my path to becoming a teacher. The experiences I have had in my field experiences and tutoring students brings me so much joy. The only way to describe it, is to say teaching fills me with more intrinsic rewards than anything I have known. I am proud to say I graduated from Boerne High School as a Greyhound. I played soccer for the Greyhound’s Varsity team starting my freshman year and, sadly, had to call it quits after a knee injury prevented me from going further with my soccer career. Although, this felt like a setback, it allowed me to really focus on getting ready for college. Maintaining good grades and my desire to help others led me to be a part of their math honor society, Mu Alpha Theta. I did not know it then, but my participation in this was something I would look back at during my decision to become an Education major.

I had no clear answer for him. He began explaining how wonderful Tarleton’s Education program is and all the benefits of becoming a teacher. Before he finished, and as cliché as it sounds, I felt like I could see the lightbulb light up above my head. It clicked! I, immediately, thought about the tutoring experiences I had during my time as a member of Mu Alpha Theta, my experiences playing educational games with my niece and nephews and my time working for an after school program for kids.
