In our lives we are constantly making life decisions. These choices are what make up or shape up our lives. The choices we make can play a big part of our lives depending on the choices that we make. Like everything in life choices come with consequences that are not predictable. In “A Slender Thread” written by Diane Ackerman, Ackerman volunteers at a suicide hotline. One night a desperate woman calls in and Ackerman takes the call. Louise, the caller talks to Ackerman about how hopeless her life is, she sees no other choice but, to kill herself. Louise thinks her life is miserable. Ackerman tries to help Louise she wants to make her see that her life is not as bad as she sees. While talking to Louise, Ackerman feels the need of calling the police to help Louise since she consumed too much tylenol to hurt herself. Ackerman doubts herself but decides to call the police and turns out saving Louise’s life. Weeks later, Ackerman sees a postcard that catches her attention, the postcard ends up being from Louise. I decided to take Chemistry and Calculus just to have classes with my friends. Unfortunately, I was not able to pass these classes. Failing these classes affected my education and it affected me. It affected me education wise because my GPA dropped immensely. Because of my GPA dropping I was not able to graduate out of high school with honors. I was really disappointed in myself because before taking these classes I was on track to graduate with honors. I still remember when I meet with my counselor and she told me I was no longer in track to graduate with honors. I remember breaking into tears because that was one of my high school goals.
