My English Language: My First Experience With Language

My first experience with language, like most people, started when I was first born. Although I do not remember almost anything from that time, being surrounded by the English language, whether it was hearing it spoke or seeing it written, greatly improved my ability to catch on to the language. Throughout my preschool years I was with about five other people every day and we would work on the letters of the alphabet and different words often. This set the foundation before I started elementary school. I remember disliking kindergarten because all the teachers wanted to do the same thing every day. Being a young child I did not understand why we had to learn another language when we barely knew English. I did not excel in Spanish class and would not look forward to that part of the week. Once I graduated from elementary school and moved on to middle school, each student had a choice to continued taking Spanish classes or take a world languages class which gave small lessons about a variety of language and the culture. I choose to take the world language class since I had not had a good experience with Spanish so far. Throughout the class we learned Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. The class was interesting because you got to focus on how the people that speak other languages live and what words and other cultural things you would need to know in order to be respectful and communicate with the people there. I still did not understand why we had to learn another language but looking back on the class I am glad I got the chance to take it because I learned some skill that would be useful if I decide to
