I think that my cultural background does not affect how I handle conflict. Even though I am Hispanic and people tend to think that we are loud and problematic, I am the total opposite and personally don’t even like conflict at all. On the other side, being a Christian is what has helped me handle conflict. I always put myself in the other shoes and think twice before I do something that might harm another person. I think the Christian worldview as a cultural background that can help anyone handle conflict in a better way. When you have Jesus in your heart and the fear of God, you wouldn’t do things that can damage others. In regard to Christian worldview, I speak for myself because I have seen other people who proclaim themselves as Christians
America is defined as one country, culturally that statement is false, but geologically it is true. Some situations can involve us all, yet there is a mass amount of days where it is individual. But the structure is still there. All laws should pertain to each citizen. The article, The Bill of Rights, can prove these statements with ease. On the other hand, though, America is also fluctuating. Views never really stay the same, and the articles, Andrew Jackson’s Speech to Congress on “Indian Removal” and “Cultural Common Ground Gets Harder To Come By” can prove this. These articles both show a contrast between the views of American citizens. Finally, the whole daily life of an American can be vastly different depending on whose shoes you step into. In the article The Clash of Cultures, William Cronon and Richard White delve into “the interrelations between people and their environment,” (11) specifically, between the American Indians and the Europeans and the Americas. The reason Cronon and White wrote this article was, “In part, a result of our current concern with pollution and the exhaustion of valuable natural resources, but it has also proved to be a valuable way of learning more about how people of past generations and different cultures dealt with nature and with one another.” (11)
Society constantly changing rules and culture is the main reason for conflict between people. This is displayed in “Kindred” were numerous African descending people are enslaved. In the novel Rufus and Dana -the main characters- have a difficult time getting along. This is because they were raised in different societies with different cultural acceptance. In the novel, you can observe Dana struggles with trying to fit in and stay out of trouble, and Rufus frustration in trying to control her. As seen in this novel, the thing people are taught or use to often time interfere with their good judgment and can make overlook things that are morally wrong.

We live with conflicts, which are happening every day in our life. They are quite normal because everybody is so different. However, some conflicts between culture and race can be very serious and aggressive. The movie Crash illustrates several stories of cultural conflicts and racism.
In 1995, Delpit published Other People's Children: Cultural Conflict in the Classroom. Although the excerpt analyzed in this paper is from a larger work, it was written by Delpit (1995) as a self-contained speech. This excerpt includes many of the concepts Delpit believes to be the basic cultural conflicts in the classroom, which are stereotyping, child-deficit assumptions and student isolation and invisibility. Delpit's goal is to "remove the dynamic of oppression that are inherent in any classroom…that come together when (primarily white) teachers spend time with 'other people's children'" (Delpit, 1995, pg.69). Through Other People's Children: Cultural Conflict in the Classroom, Delpit lays the foundation for multicultural education and details ways teachers can solve the inherent problems that arise as a result of many cultures interacting in the classroom. The purpose of this paper is an analysis of this text through an analytic, interpretive and normative reading.
Conflict resolution in Chinese societies is mainly based on Confucianism. The overriding principle of society is that the superior in a group is to be respected. When a conflict arises, Chinese will consider the nature of their relationship. Within a family structure, the superior should be obeyed, so a subordinating family member may have to be willing to sacrifice their own comfort or desire in order to maintain peace (Hwang, 1998). Sometimes a subordinating family member will simply change or forsake their original goal. In Chinese culture it is important for society to believe all is well in a family even if it is not (Hwang, 1998).

There are different ways to confront conflict, and it depends on the type of person that you are. The different ways that people can confront conflict are either head-on or just complete avoidance. People face conflicts every day of their lives. We all come across at least one incident in our lives that is challenging and we are baffled on what decision is to be made. Such conflicts may be an inner-conflict, a conflict between oneself and nature, a conflict between oneself and another person, oneself and God, or one and society. This paper will describe an incident in my life involving a conflict.

Cultural relativism also causes a division amongst the various societies because this would imply that we would not be able to come to an agreement when it came to moral decisions. One of Rachel’s main point addresses the justification of Cultural Relativism is invalid because there is an implication of “rights and wrongs are only matters of opinion.” (Sher, 153) Opinion is not equivalent to truth, therefore there is no truth factor as to what is right or wrong. Since I grew up in the Catholic faith, I understand that not everyone has the same religious beliefs that my religion teaches. The way a person is raised, has an impact on their religious beliefs. Your belief system is the actual set of precepts from which you live your daily life, those that govern your thoughts, words, and actions (Woods, 2006). Since, I had religion classes through out my school years I have been taught to accept other people's religious beliefs. Even my parents have taught me to look at a person's culture and beliefs to gain a better understanding of their point of view. With the understanding of others religious beliefs and cultures it has allowed me to deal with others in a fair and equal manner. Even though I have had some difficult time with others I remember how I was raised and it has helped me through those difficult times.
There is many different factors that determine personality and development, from environmental, genetics, and of course, the culture someone grows up. This can vary across the globe in different geological locations. It is impossible to say how much influence culture has on specific psychological development or personality. Some emotion such as happiness can be subjective and it is hard to measure the rate of happiness when contrasted with a different part of the world. Many scholars point out that wealthier and developed nations report higher feelings of well-being. (Eunkook M. Suh) Despite this association with income and well-being, there are other factors at play.
