Conflict Conflict is something that you encounter pretty much every day. It is almost inevitable that you will not encounter conflict as you through your day or doing anything else. There are different ways to confront conflict, and it depends on the type of person that you are. The different ways that people can confront conflict are either head-on or just complete avoidance. When people avoid a conflict, sometimes it tends to work in their favor, but sometimes it does not and the problem just becomes bigger. Also with handling it head-on there are some major problems. It is healthy to have some conflict in a relationship because that is how you get to communicate with another person and can be heard. When you can express yourself, that makes you grow and lets the other person know your side of things and how you can work things out in the future. Violence on the other hand, is something more severe than conflict. When violence comes into play, we need to be careful with the way that one expresses themselves. Because of what I believe and what I practice, I am able step back from a situation and know how to handle most situations. My faith influences the way that I see conflict and violence. As mentioned above, having a set belief about someone or something can influence a lot and lead you to do things that you probably should not be doing. These types of actions are best described as the destructive conflict method talked about in Interpersonal Conflict by William Wilmot and Joyce Hocker. The destructive method is described as a way that conflict ends up in a negative way rather than a positive one. Who can dare say they have never encountered a conflict? No one is without conflict; there will never be a person who says they have never faced a problem. What is a conflict? Most think an opposition or a struggle of some nature. It can be that and more, to state it simply its man vs. anything; that anything can be nature, God, self, and even fellow man.
Lincoln is nervous about the Franklin versus Columbus game because he doesn’t know which team to have pride in. Instead he decided to play for himself than school pride. Lincoln was still nervous even though he thought he wasn’t going to play. Since Lincoln can’t choose between the two teams, he didn’t care who won because he is playing for himself. He also sees his fellow team members nervous and unsure. Lincoln liked both teams, he can’t pick over one. Lincoln keeps friends, no matter old or new friends. Lincoln later loses his nervous feeling and becomes confident after he played at the last quarter.
Civil conflicts tend to erupt “within nation-states and threaten their governments, the social order, and the rate and path of their development” (Anastasion et al. 17). Throughout the years there has been much debate centered on defining the underlying cause(s) of civil conflict. There are many theories that have evolved over time that suggest reasoning for the occurrence of civil conflict(s). Yet there still remains no concrete definition of cause. However, there was a theorist and scholar by the name of Thomas Malthus that offered a considerably plausible argument for the cause of civil war. Malthus produced a theory called Malthusianism; this theory expressed the potential underlying effects that can evolve from the rapid growth of a population combined with the scarce availiability of resources (Anastasion et al.).

Conflict can be defined as, “any situation in which incompatible goals, cognitions, or emotions within or between individuals or groups lead to opposition or antagonistic interaction” (Learning Team Toolkit, 2004, pp 242-243). Conflict theory are perspective in sociology psychology that accentuate the social, political, or material inequality of a social group, that analysis the broad socio-political system, or that weaken from structural functionalism and ideological conservatism. With conflict theory, you will see tensions, status, and power are unevenly distributed between groups in society, which these conflicts become the purpose of social change. The interpersonal conflict revolves around my mother and I. We have always had a strong relationship but lately, have been at constant odds between each other.
