My College Experience

College is a collection of diverse people, new experiences, and learning how to be an adult. While it is completely different from anything I have ever done before, I feel like I have adjusted well and am getting into the swing of being a college student. The transition from high school to college is difficult and I have faced some challenges including, learning good study habits and accepting who I am as a student, time management skills and putting myself into new situations where I can meet new people. While these have been difficult for me to encounter, they have taught me valuable lessons about myself and who I can and want to be. In high school, I was involved in colorguard which took over my whole life. I had practice until late into the night during the week and competitions took up my weekend. This didn’t leave me much time to study. Coming to college I discovered I had to study like I never had before. In between classes is when I get the most studying done and I have found that I can study better in the SUB than in the library or my dorm room. Raider Ready has provided me with life skills such as good study strategies, note taking skills, and ways to create a goal for myself in the smartest way possible. Through this class, I have been able to understand who I am as a student and person a little better while learning valuable skills that I can apply to both my school and personal life. The challenges I have faced in the last couple months I have been able to find ways to accomplish through what I have learned in Raider Ready and my own judgement. Learning about who I am as a person is difficult in and of itself, but learning who I am as a student can be more difficult and I feel that with these experiences, I am one step closer to achieving
