The Munchkins Summer Camp is a summer program designed to provide preschoolers with a memorable one-of-a-kind experience within a caring environment. Every camp assistant is assigned a group of preschool campers, and is expected to lead them through the planned activities. Therefore, a camp assistant for the Munchkins Summer Camp must possess excellent leadership skills, patience, teamwork abilities, organization, and initiative. I have admirably demonstrated all of the desired character traits during my time as a camp assistant; proven by my success during Munchkins Summer Camp in 2015.
Everyday, I made sure to arrive at least 1 hour before the camp doors opened in order to look over my schedule and prepare for activities planned for that

I made sure every camper’s morning started on a positive note by greeting them with a welcoming attitude. While the preschool campers begin to swarm in, I also make sure to look around for any lost children and redirect them towards their camp counsellors. This process of welcoming children lasts for at least 20 minutes; until I am sure that there are no other campers coming.
The first few days of camp consisted of me leading ice-breaker games that helped campers get to know each other. As the week progressed, the activities slowly strode away from introductory games to activities that reflect the theme of the week. Through activities and games, I was able to get a firm understanding of what kind of children I was working with, and how to approach them when conflicts arise. I was seen as a respective leader that tended to both the interests and problems of all campers; ensuring everyone, including other camp assistants, enjoyed the short time we had together.
Each day concluded with snack time back in the basement of the mess hall as campers wait for their parents to come pick them up. During this time, I would clean up any garbage or scraps that were left over from previous activities and prepare for the next
The then got breakfast before he left for either PE or combat skills. He had lunch then continued on with what he was doing before until 4pm. Sometimes he would have a night duty where he had to guard the area.
Attending sleepaway camp has long been a summertime tradition for kids across the United States. According to the American Camp Association, there are more than 7,000 resident camps in the U.S (ACA Facts and Trends 1). Whether it is a traditional camp with arts & crafts, sports, and theater or a special-interest camp, the campers build the same lifetime skills. Although some kids have a genetic predisposition to such important lifetime qualities, most do not. Every sleepaway camp has the same formula that enables kids to learn, practice, and improve upon important values and traits. Similar to mission statements across the board, Camp Wicosuta’s goal “is for every child to walk away feeling confiden...
Listening to a child’s viewpoint in today’s world is one technique to fully understand what they are thinking about and why they would be thinking about it. These children are having a horde of thoughts streaming through their mind with the foster children transitioning into a new home and receiving a new family. Although, the foster child is not the only one feeling anxious about the switch into another home but the f...

On the first evening of service, I was prepared, yet scared that I would say something wrong or the children there would not accept my ideas. When I arrived, the group was small, as promised since it was a Saturday and many of the hospital guests were out with their parents or home for a fun weekend of activities. The children and youth who were there, however, gathered 'round for some of the activities I had planned. First, I made it a point to learn everyone's name which meant that I p...
Narrator: Welcome to camp! The sun is shining, the lake is sparkling, the trees are tall and the Program Aides are singing. What could possibly go wrong in such a beautiful place?!
When it comes to children’s education, you can never start too early. At Little Minds Matter: Monsters 2 Munchkins, they understand that early child education is essential to a child’s development and are dedicated to nurturing all aspects of it. We sat there for a few more minutes then I got up and yelled for everyone to get ready to start moving again. I donned my pack and tightened the straps, and after making sure everyone else was ready, started off down the winding trail to the night’s campsite.
I created this specific kids summer camp, because I wanted every children to be included instead of having a cheerleader camp or karate camp. We are responsible for general safety and to have a great time. Our goal is to have the children learn in a fun, positive and respectful way. We’d like to try to incorporate educational subjects into camp and encourage them to learn in an enjoyment way.The lesson plans serves and helps children develop in all four areas of development. In physically, children are participating in fitness, soccer, running around. In this camp, physically is involved in so many ways- children are constantly are moving, using their muscle and strength. In emotionally, they can learn what emotion to put in camp. In the setting
For this project, I decided to volunteer as a facilitator for the 21st Century Program; a program that assists middle to high school refugee students to adequately understand and utilize the English language. As the program facilitator, one of my responsibilities is to help the students with their schoolwork and organize team building activities. The first week was challenging because I did not know what to expect from the students and I am also uncertain with what the students would think of me. As someone who the students see as their leader, it is important to show professionalism when dealing with younger children because most of them would look up to an older person as their role model. Being in a setting where everyone was accustomed
“It all started one Friday morning”. My family and I were going dirt bike riding at Forest Hill to camp also and its like 3 and a half hours away. I placed my bags by the door and texted Riley saying I was heading over. Then I went to my room grabbed my wallet and walked out the door with my bag. It was cold and rainy but the rest of the week was supposed to be hot.
This course has helped me learn that as an E.C.E. leader it is imperative to be have unity and have a shared vision in order to effectively meet the needs of the families being served. An early childhood program administrators commits and recognizes that we have “many responsibilities to the families we serve and that the well-being of the children in our care is our primary responsibility, above our obligations to other constituencies” (NAEYC, 2006, p.2).
I awoke to the sun piercing through the screen of my tent while stretching my arms out wide to nudge my friend Alicia to wake up. “Finally!” I said to Alicia, the countdown is over. As I unzip the screen door and we climb out of our tent, I’m embraced with the aroma of campfire burritos that Alicia’s mom Nancy was preparing for us on her gargantuan skillet. While we wait for our breakfast to be finished, me and Alicia, as we do every morning, head to the front convenient store for our morning french vanilla cappuccino. On our walk back to the campsite we always take a short stroll along the lake shore to admire the incandescent sun as it shines over the gleaming dark blue water. This has become a tradition that we do every morning together
This experience as a whole provided me with the opportunity to show my professional quality as an educator, a cooperative team member, and a lifelong learner. A few things that I continuously had to reflect on throughout this experience was my self-competence, my performance as well as the children’s, and of course my professional demeanor which directly impacted the effectiveness of my planning, teaching and...
