The Denver March Pow Wow event was fun, educational and interesting. The Pow Wow consisted of many diverse native american tribes from all over the United States, who have come to perform cultural dances, and educate others about their beliefs. The Pow Wow had many booths on the outside that sold many different but relevant goods, such as: natural medicines, jewelry, animal skin, instruments, art and music. I found it fascinating that some native americans still lived in their tribes within their home village on the reservation. Their culture is very different and many different social determinants of health affect their population. Their ethnocentric beliefs are so different compared to the western culture, not only in natural medicine and
The idea that early hominids were powerful players in the ancient is slowly slipping away. Evidence is emerging that our ancestors were not great hunters, but scavengers that roamed the savanna looking for leftovers. Pat Shipman, discusses how it would be possible for early hominids to survive as strangers and how this method of cultivation affected human evolution. Shipman, uses the marks that stone tools, and teeth would make on the bones of prey animals as evidence for her hypothesis. She theorizes that early hominids weren't mighty hunter, but cunning scavengers.
We learnt a game called Gaga, we were in this circle box, we had a ball and we had to try to avoid it form touching us, when I did touch us we sat on the edge waiting for the next game! We were in groups and my group started with canoeing, the guy who was there said that there were bull sharks in the water, and that scared me so much because I’m so gullible. We were with partners and we lined up our canoes in the water, and I swapped with someone and ended up being with akolde who is very bad at steering because I was doing all the work. After that we went back to camp and we played the environmental game! We were put in groups, I was in the lowest group which meant anyone could catch me, the hunters could, the diseases and some other group. We had to walk around the forest trying to find stamps to stamp into our leaves, I was with a group wondering around, I managed to be one of the winners with like 10 other people. We came back to camp and did what I was most excited for, the obstacle course, we walked around looking at what we had to go through and then came back to the start to start! We had to go in pairs, and I was with Maja, we were and epic duo, that went through all the obstacles, we ended up second, but we should’ve come first because the group that came first skipped some obstacles. The last activity was the farm activity, we got to see some pigs, and after we went into a cage and went through the farm, looking and learning about cows. We later came back to camp and ate dinner. In the night Mr Mcguane went on a night walk and some people went, I went and Mr Mcguane told stories about pirates, UFOs, and drop
Around the time of 1866-1868, legends were born. These gentlemen were born in completely different states, but would become the best partners in crime around the early 1900s. When they came together, they were outlaws that had the same passion, robbing anything from banks to trains and causing mischief. They had no idea that they would form one of the most unstoppable outlaw groups and were about to form a brotherhood that would last for a lifetime. Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, were about to become two of the most notorious outlaws in history.
After that we went over to our bench the bench we sat o was green and white these benches change color according to your team's color. There are 9 people on the field at once from each team 4 attack 4 defence and 3 middie we played U of M it wa fun we destroyed them 91 0 biggest game differential ever! The game is different but is still a lot the same like i told you we were dressed now and are allowed to hit people like in boys lacrosse we don't wear pads though just goggles are gloves are required now. No extending elbows or limbs still. I sent a girl to the hospital i broke her arm. I scored 15 goals and had an awesome time. The goal turns into a star after you score and a rainbow appears. After the game we signed papers and digraphs. After the game me and Emma were tired so we went back to the dorm, and ordered a pizza. The pizza man came and he wore this weird thing it was an apron but it had squirty bottles to clean it off. The pizza guy's truck was the one with the oven and cooler it looks awesome emma said that they have them everywhere. We ordered dr. pepper that came in a 4 liter it was cool we drank it all and then we went to bed watching a movie( it was a double throwback for back to the future). As i fell into a deep sleep i saw the monkey
Every year the Future Business Leaders of America group in my school organizes Thanksgiving baskets that are provided to families within the community who are in need and who otherwise would be without a Thanksgiving dinner. Serving as secretary of the club my junior and senior years I have had the honor of being directly involved with the making and handing out of the baskets. I organize the gathering of the goods and donations for the turkeys and gift cards that are provided within the baskets. These two years I have had the chance of personally handing the baskets to the families who are receiving them. When handing the out the baskets I see how thankful the families are for all of the hard work that I put into the baskets. The experience
There were a great many sights to see and memories to be made as we traversed across the beautiful landscape. The trek consisted of two ten mile segments so the younger scouts could just do one part if they became exhausted, but the older scouts were encouraged to tackle the entire journey. As we camped that night, we were able to use our leadership skills in order to delegate to the younger scouts the preparations that needed to made in order to create an organized
The Chicago World Fair of 1893 was a very important event in American history and culture. The effects of the fair would last even till today. It influenced the American people to reevaluate their own cities. The fair also contributed to the pride of the American people not to mention those in Chicago. Daniel Burnham along with his partner John Root, whom later dies, is given the responsibility of constructing the Chicago World Fair. John Root is actually the architectural genius between the pair and dies before construction barely gets underway. Burnham is motivated by his pride and determination in order to actually get the job done.
I like how you used the words trash, recycled and re-purposed to describe the rummage sale of your own closet in reference to what is happening right now in Christianity. As I consider the process of Christianity holding a rummage sale, I am wondering what needs to be thrown in the trash, recycled or re-purposed for what Tickle says needs to happen. Tickle states, “About every five hundred years the empowered structures of institutionalized Christianity, whatever they may be at that time, become an intolerable carapace that must be shattered in order that renewal and new growth may occur” (Tickle 158-159). This is the key, growth and renewal. It appears that every time the church gets complacent and comfortable, the Holy Spirit interrupts the
And so it was that I found myself standing on a dirt and gravel road, surrounded by equally sleepy classmates at 7:30 am, Monday morning. We all huddled within our baggy jackets, unconsciously mirroring one another in loose jeans, gray or black t-shirts and scuffed, dusty running shoes. In contrast the instructor appeared wide awake and put together, standing before us in a green sweater, pressed khaki slacks and well-worn yet well-maintained hiking boots. He perkily welcomed us to the threshold of Poly Canyon, and with other preliminary descriptions of the upcoming landscape turned and headed down the long, winding service road.
Is This Lifestyle Even Healthy? Sometimes I wonder how people can think that it is even healthy to be a slob. There are several different types of people in this world but when it comes to slobs, some people have a low tolerance for it. When you work in the medical field, you are supposed to be in an environment that is sterile and clean all around you. When you throw a slop into the mix of that, it definitely throws off the whole purpose of trying to be sterile or clean.
Most of the time the reason people have yard sales is to either get rid of things, to clean up or organize, or to raise money. Knowing how to prepare a yard sale is very important because every once in a while, it’s good to get rid of some things. A Trail of Crumbs In many fairy tales, a part may be included that is about a trail of crumbs. The Grimm’s fairy tale Hansel and Gretel includes a popular concept in most fairy tales, the trail of crumbs. Author Louise Murphy echoed this concept in her book The True Story of Hansel and Gretel. It affected the characters in this novel because Hansel was leaving the trail of breadcrumbs so that their stepmother could find them. Gretel thought that it was a dumb idea because they barely had enough bread to survive on, so she did not think it was smart of Hansel to do so.

When I open my eyes and see the bottom of the top bunk I think to myself, "day one of week five." At 7:00, the alarm goes off and I heard the grumbling of eight junior high girls as they start to slowly climb out of their beds half awake. "Rise and shine and give God the glory glory." As my typical morning song continues, I get eight sets of glares from my campers. For some reason it just makes me smile. "I wish I had my blow dryer." "I really want my make up." The usual teenage comment I hear the first day. "Five minutes to finish getting ready before Alpha!" I yell, "I'll meet everyone out side of the cabin!" I found my way outside Mt. Horeb cabin sitting on the picnic table just smiling to myself for no particular reason.
