Predictability creates stability. When things get overwhelming or confusing, a routine becomes an anchor. They also help instill self-esteem. As children become more familiar with a schedule, the more comfortable they will be in completing tasks and this confidence will help them handle any new challenges.
If you don't already have some household routines set up, Little Minds Matter: Monsters 2 Munchkins suggests starting small. Here are three easy ways to do it:
Begin in the Morning: Having everyone together for breakfast at the same time every day is a wonderful way to start. After all, it's the most important meal for the day! This will also give you an opportunity to review the upcoming tasks and events with them.
Set Up Mini-Routines: A small routine is better than none at all. Incorporating them throughout the day is simple, take a bedtime ritual for example. Make it a point to stick to a particular sequence: washing up, putting on pajamas, getting into bed, then finally reading a story.
Acknowledge Transitions: Before moving straight onto the next task, let your child know when the current one will be ending. If dinner follows playtime, tell them when they have 5 minutes left before they have to put away their toys and wash up for
The Child Development Center of College of San Mateo provides early care and educational programs for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Children are divided into classrooms with a “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two or three “associate” teachers. Klara attended Classroom, “A,” a stimulating and well-resourced classroom. Klara was observed for two hours on Monday from 9 am to 11 am and for two hours on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. During these two hours, classroom activities consisted of “free time,” “story time,” and an outside “play time.” A “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two “associate” teachers were present during observations. Additionally, a total of eighteen children were in attendance during the observed days.
The Educational System in Ontario, Canada has been implementing a new curriculum to ensure a successful, practical and functional early education, where children of three, four and five years old could benefit in the short term from a new early intervention educational system. This group of legislators believes that during the following four years with full day educational intervention (FDEL) will bring new changes within the old philosophy that will affect the way young children’ are leaning . The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how educators in the early childhood field can create an environment for children that is beneficial to development and enhance their thinking and learning skills. The author states that over the years, more and more observations of early childhood programs across the U.S. and some other countries to see what environments help to convey knowledge better for children. The authors states a caution that, “…we have seen: whether in Alaska, Florida or Massachusetts, all programs are starting to look like an early childhood catalog. Centers do not reflect the identity of the families and communities” (Curtis and Carter, 34). They then goes on to say that many programs apply
Early Years Matters (2012) outlines the following aspects of Understanding the world; exploration and investigation; the children investigate objects and materials, learning about changes and patterns whilst looking for similarities and differences. This improves their questioning of how and why things work. Design and making where children learn about the construction process and the tools and techniques used to assemble materials. ICT is used so that the children learn how to use appropriate technology such as computers and programmable toys that are supporting and enhancing their learning. Time is when children find out about events that have occurred in the past or present which are relevant to their own lives or those of their families. Place is when the children become aware of and show an interest in the natural world. Beginning to find out about their local area, knowing what they like and dislike about it. Finally, communities is about how children begin...
Researchers Gottfried and Flemming conducted a study concerning the knowledge of persistent preschoolers. The test subjects were 56 toddlers, 3 and 4 years of age. The nature of the test was to show if toddlers are retaining any knowledge when rewards are used as an incentive. The remaining 14 toddlers were evaluated on their knowledge without any incentives. Two test were used to complete this test. The 56 toddlers used noveled pictures versus the remaining 14 toddlers used peg boards. The results showed that the 56 toddlers retained

The Munchkins Summer Camp is a summer program designed to provide preschoolers with a memorable one-of-a-kind experience within a caring environment. Every camp assistant is assigned a group of preschool campers, and is expected to lead them through the planned activities. Therefore, a camp assistant for the Munchkins Summer Camp must possess excellent leadership skills, patience, teamwork abilities, organization, and initiative. I have admirably demonstrated all of the desired character traits during my time as a camp assistant; proven by my success during Munchkins Summer Camp in 2015.
Robert Fulghum list three simple things in his book, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. The first is put things back where you found them. Another thing he mentioned was to play and work some every day. The last was to hold hands and stick together. I honestly think if everyone followed these three simple rules it would enhance our lives.
The question regarding what is considered developmentally appropriate practice for preschoolers (i.e., three to five-year-olds) has been widely debated in recent years. The various practices include approaches such as teacher-directed learning activities and child-directed activities. This paper will focus on specifically these two approaches and the aspects they introduce regarding early childhood development. Most approaches agree on many educational goals such as promoting self-esteem, encouraging emerging literacy, using materials and activities that are of interest to children, and encouraging parent involvement, among others. It is the manner of which they are implemented that varies and how they affect
The second sub stage of Piaget’s theory of sensorimotor stage is mental representations. Toddlers in this stage are beginning to understand how to use their minds and think about possibilities on how to reach their desired outcome. This is the stage where toddlers develop a sense of creating mental representations of objects, people, actions, and ideas. (Arnette, 2013,

Children need and appreciate structure in their lives. It teaches them what to expect, thus provided security. Have a routine and stick to it. If a child knows that he must eat breakfast, brush his teeth and get dressed before he can watch TV or go out and play, this provides the
By having short conversation about experiences after each session your kids will develop a communicative relationship with you.
Lastly discipline is another very important responsibility. The best thing to do is to pick your battles, because if you are constantly saying “no” your child will tune it out. You also have to be consistent. For example, you can’t let your child eat candy before dinner one night and then tell them not to the next night, you will be sending them mixed signals.
The purpose of early childhood education is to firstly learn about one’s self and agency, how one’s actions can affect and impact others; to develop a sense of identity; who you are and how you fit into this world. Experience a sense of belonging through interactions with peers and teachers whilst celebrating and sharing diverse cultures whilst embracing others. Children need to have opportunities to explore, experiment, to gain insight and knowledge in numeracy, literacy, science and social structure through innovative and richly supported curriculums (DEEWR, 2009). I have very high expectations of all children as I believe that this assists in building self-confidence and
