Summary This is an education research paper that explores the qualitative research method known as Multiple Case Study Analysis. It will look at design, implementation, and analysis. It will further touch on what is meant by a case study in itself. Introduction As asserted by Stake (2006), “The multicase study is a special effort to examine something having lots of cases, parts, or members” (p. vi), which by the study of those parts, is able to then better understand the something as a whole, and the ways in which it functions across different scenarios. In other words, it attempts to explore and understand a specific issue or phenomenon, within its context, by examining the individual parts, or cases, which make it up. Stake refers to this whole, or specific phenomenon that is the main focus of study, as a quintain (p. vi). By studying a variety of data sources, multiple facets of the quintain can be revealed and understood, because it ensures that the phenomenon is not being view in a singular, or biased manner (Stake 2006). The Single Case Before proceeding with the workings of a multiple case study analysis, it is epistemologically important to understand and acknowledge the significance of the single case, which is studied not only as a single entity, but also in relation to its impact on the whole, as well as its correlations with other cases, across multiple conditions. This analysis will ideally aid in the general understanding of the elements of the quintain such as function and relationships. In the book Introduction to Research: Less Fright, More Insight: a Customized Version of Research Methods: Are You Equipped?, the author defines a case study as “an in-depth observation of an individual, animal, event, or treatment method (pp. 73).” In this paper, the student will be writing a case study about herself, and she will explain what it is that she has learned about research. More importantly, the student will then evaluate her experience from a biblical, Christian perspective.
The ethical discernment model described by Slosar (2004) and developed for use at Ascension Health will assist us as we analyze this case. It reminds us that discernment engages our spirituality, intellect, imagination, intuition, and beliefs. It is decision-making that reaches into the heart of our beliefs about God, creation, others, and ourselves. It therefore requires structured time for reflection and prayer from the beginning and throughout the process.
The eight-step module is a framework tool used to help analyze and assist you in thinking through an ethical dilemma. After Koch Industries acquired Georgia-Pacific, they immediately took steps to transfer its unique and highly ethical culture to their new “family member.” Tom Butz along with a few other Koch employees and Georgia-Pacific employees were in charge of getting the transition started immediately. Butz says “The key, was the commitment from leadership across the company to our vision for compliance and to building the desired culture.”(Travion & Nelson, 2011, p.247) There were some breakdowns in communication at the beginning that may have possibly led to the firing of some employees but I do not believe this can completely be the blame. They have to take responsibility for their own actions, when you deliberately go against something you have to be prepared for the consequences. Letting the employees go will benefit the company and other employees in the long run. I will begin my analysis by gathering facts and defining the ethical issues. Once the ethical issues are defined I will identify who these issues affect and think about the potential consequences. Then I will identify the obligations and reason for each one depending on the people involved. I will then ask myself what a person of integrity would do in this specific situation. And before making any decisions I will think creatively about any potential actions and check my gut feelings about the situation.
A. My interest in social work began at a young age. In middle school I started attending my school’s church and became heavily involved in the church’s youth group. It was then that I was first introduced to the act of service and what it really means to help others. As part of our activities, we would feed the homeless and visit convalescent hospitals to volunteer. By participating in these activities, I began to take interest in the homeless and elderly populations. Another avenue that sparked my interest in Social Work was a classmate’s father, who was a Social Worker for the county. He and I would have discussions about the duty of a Social Worker and I would constantly ask him questions to satiate my curiosity about the profession.
When a case study is conducted, the researcher conducts an in-depth observation on a particular individual for an extended period of time. While observing the individual, the researcher records their observations which are then translated into case materials that are used to demonstrate a possible problem (American Psychological Association, 2009). Also, as mentioned before, case studies are solely focused on observations of a particular individual. However, even though the word individual is usually used to refer to a person, in this case, it can also be used to refer to a business, school, or neighborhood (Cozby & Bates, 2012).

Spokane Industries has contracted Franklin Electronics for an 18 month product development contract. Franklin Electronics is new to using project management methodologies and has not been exposed to earned value management methodologies. Even though Franklin and Spokane have worked together in the past, they have mainly used fixed-price contracts with little to no stipulations. For this project, Spokane Industries is requiring Franklin Electronics to use formalized project management methodologies, earned value cost schedules, and schedules for reports and meetings. Since Franklin Electronics had no experience with earned value management, the cost accounting group was trained in the methodology in order to bid for the project.

Case studies are a collection of data obtained using various methods gathered on an individual or group to record areas of interest in order to assist with analysis and provide recommendations. The study should include the name of the person, although this should be protected to provide anonymity where appropriate, and a brief description of the subject. The setting where the study is to be performed should be included. The aim of the observation must be presented along with a report of the findings. The type of method used will depend upon the subject and the area of interest. Data is gathered on the subject in this case observations were used to provide the data. An interpretation of the study will be made in order to provide a conclusion and recommendations made if applicable. Freud famously used the case studies that he carried out on his patients to develop his Psychoanalytic Theory.
A two-phase sequential explanatory strategy was used for the study. The two- phases are ordered in the sequence that was proposed as priority was placed on quantitative data collection and analysis. In the second phase, qualitative data was collected and used to refine the results of the quantitative data presented in the first phase.
