Military should get paid more than they do
The Military should get paid more then what they do. Only less than 1% is active in the military in the U.S.A. (“Debate.org”). The Military is averaged about 99,000$ a year and that is including all their benefits. (“Work.chron.com”) Without the military we would not be here! (Debat.org) Even though the military has good benefits, they still don’t get paid as much as they should. (“debat.org”). The main reason I picked this topic is because my dad was in the military for 20 years. Being a military child wasn’t the easiest for me or my family. My family and I were moving nonstop so I had to go to different schools a lot, which means I had to meet new friends. The thing I liked was being able to go

In the year 1944, US Legislation passed the Servicemen’s Readjustment act, commonly known as the GI Bill of Rights. It is one of the most significant pieces of legislation ever produced by the federal government; one that impacted the United States socially, economically and politically. The GI Bill offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including financial assistance for higher education for veterans of U.S. military service. The benefits of the GI Bill are intended to help veterans readjust to civilian life following service to their country and to encourage bright, motivated men and women to volunteer for military duty. Many factors and contributions have gone into the development of the GI Bill, and it has changed over the years. This research paper will introduce the reader to a brief history of the formation and evolution of the GI Bill, discuss the current benefits that it offers to student populations in response to their specific needs, and introduce current implications that the GI Bill has placed on student veterans and institutions across the nation.
“Freedom is the most expensive thing that you own, even if you did not pay for it yourself”, Unknown. The military has been one of the most helpful things in the community. The military protects the United States and other countries from threats as well as protecting the people in the countries. Some people think that the military gets paid enough. Why some people think this, the majority of people say that the military is underpaid and that the pay should be raised.
Firefighters, police officers, and military personal should be compensated more than other people because they risk their lives every day to keep citizens safe. It is never right just to view people as dollar signs because when you do this, you do not treat them like a humans and have no regard for their families. Taking both into consideration can account for the lack of resources while also understanding the emotional distress the families will go
"The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country” (-General George S. Patton Jr). Here within our borders we are the lucky ones, we have been blessed with the pleasure of so many brave men and women; to volunteer in the world's greatest military; and put their lives on the line for something that they believe is a moral obligation. But, think of some other countries, that have conscription (the practice of ordering people by law to serve in the armed forces) laws. We as a nation have some laws on conscription, and if you are male and above the age of 18 you have already signed the slip of paper stating that in the time of war; if our great nation re-instated the draft then there is a great chance you will be serving on the frontline of the next Great War. This brings me to my first topic of this page, is it ethical to have a draft? My second topic that I will discuss will be on if it is morally acceptable to "draft dodge". What I mean on the second topic is if you have a right; that morally allows you to not go fight in the war.
There has always been a differential between civilian income and military and this has only just happened in the past six years. (Army Magazine) This has allowed those who have joined the military to have that pay increase since they are giving more or less their own lives to protect their country. This allows them to realize that they are on a different level than most and gives them the responsibility of that. It is with the military though that the government can increase the economy even providing jobs. (Military Spending Can Grow the Nation’s Economy) This even allows civilians to find jobs in the military and contract out. So the military has also given back to the civilian
Do athletes get overpaid? Is it fair that the average NFL player gets paid 1.9 million dollars a year while the average heart surgeon gets paid 533 thousand dollars annually? I think that professional athletes don’t get paid too much. There are multiple reasons that proves that their pay is not excessive. Their careers are short, they risk their body for our entertainment, and they motivate children.
The United States is an extremely affluent country, however, the U.S. government does not allocate its funds correctly. The government spends entirely too much of the budget on military spending. A segment of the military budget should go towards education. Education is completely undervalued in America and is often pushed to the side in political debates. Conversely, several of the top-ranked countries in education are also flourishing economically. Even though the U.S. is struggling to compete in education, the government has all but given up at this point. There are no signs of increased education spending or a decrease in military spending. How is this country supposed to continue to grow and move forward if the citizens
Almost every argument for a military in the community is based on the promise that it will bring jobs to the community. The jobs will mainly be in construction and when the construction is over, there will be no more jobs unless you join the military. The military base will provide jobs for military personnel and the few civilian jobs will be taken by the spouse and family of the military personnel. Military bases are self-sufficient in that they have their own stores, gas stations, movie theatres, and restaurants and so there will be no benefits to the community.

William Cuthbert Faulkner’s writing career began to commence when his best friend Phil Stone took a piece of Faulkner’s work, The Marble Faun to a publisher in 1924, shortly after this he traveled to New Orleans and began writing essays for a local magazine called The Double Dealer. These works were not published and did not receive much attention. However, in 1926, Faulkner published his first novel titled Soldiers Pay. This novel is more of a romance centered around a soldier who recently arrived home from World War One to marry his fiance, but there are numerousness obstacles in the immature, betrothed couples way. Initially, soldiers pay was considered to be a commercial failure because it sold less than 1,200 copies, but subsequently, he was awarded a Nobel prize for this novel. During his acceptance speech he said, “I feel that this award was not made to me as a man, but to my work” (‘William Faulkner”). Presently, copies of this novel are valued at more that 35,00$.
What professions deserve to be paid top dollar? Everyone thinks of a doctor or a lawyer or a high up businessman. Nobody considers teachers, firemen, policemen, soldiers, or rescue team workers. The people who risk their lives each and every day for the safety and knowledge of our society are the people who sometimes struggle to even make a living. Is this fair? Then on the other hand you have the actors and actresses and all the professional athletes that simply wake up every morning to train and entertain the world. These people make millions and millions of dollars day in and day out, for doing nothing but entertaining.
Should professional athletes be paid less? This past summer athletes have been paid over millions of dollars to resign contracts to play for a professional sports team. Professional athletes should be paid less money because doctors, the president, and other people aren’t paid as much as these athletes.
When addressing the value of entertainment, there is without a doubt, that we as a society value entertainment highly. But there is no reason that these athletes, who are here to merely entertain us, get paid higher wages than those that save our lives and teach us such as medical doctors and teachers. I find it ridiculous that players make millions of dollars a year, and yet demand more. The entertainment that these athletes provide is solely entertainment; it is not essential to the function or productivity of society. If I were to become a professional football player I would not complain about my salary for many reasons. I am playing the sport that I love and getting paid for it. The minimum wage for football is well over $100,000 a year, as is for many professional sports. These reasons by their lonesome are enough to warrant that the salary professional athletes are paid is suffice.
...ers in the future. In result leaving the country far less prepared against foreign enemy forces. Our military is the stronghold our nation’s defense, it would be foolish to cripple it. In legitimate effort to keep the military from feeling any further effects of the nation’s currently dwindling economy, an adjustment to service members retire plan might be necessary to mitigate and reduce budget cuts. A three tier retirement plan would reform pay and benefits based on a military member’s specific job in the service. Someone who is a career chef would no longer retire with the same pension as someone in infantry. Both are very important to the service and our country; however both are not equal in danger and degree of difficulty. Therefore, implementing this system this system would allow for a decrease in budget cuts, while easing the effects it has on the military.
The majority of the population in the United States feel that the military is either extremely over paid or under paid. Depending on how you look at the situation determines how you see the facts. If you are only looking at the money in a paycheck then it may appear that the military is under paid. However as you begin to look into all the benefits that are available you begin to see that the military is paid very well. It is important to look at the many advantages and disadvantages to being a member of the Armed Forces.
