Should professional athletes be paid less? This past summer athletes have been paid over millions of dollars to resign contracts to play for a professional sports team. Professional athletes should be paid less money because doctors, the president, and other people aren’t paid as much as these athletes. Athletes get paid more than doctors and doctors go to college for eight whole years while these athletes go to college for one year, so they eventually make the pros. Doctors and surgeons save lives everyday and they don’t get nearly as much as the players in professional sports. “Americans are struggling to make mortgage payments, student loan payments and find good employment, it sometimes becomes frustrating to hear about someone who makes millions playing a game demand more money and then get it” (Mueller 6). Doctors are more skilled than athletes because they have to use little tools to save lives while athletes are just having fun. The president of the United States gets paid less money than these athletes. The president literally runs the country. Without there being a president there would be no professional sports because there would be other things to worry about.
