Should soldiers or athletes get paid more money? I say the soldiers should get paid more because they protect our country and plus too soldiers represent the United States. Athletes get paid more in a day than a soldier gets a year. The average salary the soldiers get in a year is 99,000. Soldiers don’t get that much like they should get. That's why they need to be paid more money. When soldiers go off into the military, they leave their family behind. They don't never get to see them until they get to go home. Soldiers can't talk all the time to their daughters or sons or even their wife's and husbands. The athletes don't go through this because after their games they get to go home and relax with their families. This is a hard for a soldier because they never know when they get to go home and if they are going to go home. They risk their lifes for us but yet 65% of these wonderful men and women has to go on government assited programs to help support themselves. They should be paid more than someone who hits homeruns, scores touchdowns, or skates around on ice for an hour. Soldiers shouldn't have to pay for health care and all the others too, government should have to pay for the health insurance because soldiers are protecting our country from a lot of harm. them we wouldn't have what people has right now and plus to there would be a lot of bad people in America. Athletes don't have to go through what the soldiers have to go through. Soldiers had that hard training, they have to do before going off into the military. Athletes has practice but that's for just 3-4 hours. Soldiers has to work from sunup until sundown. That's a lot of hard work that they are doing, when they work that long. On television, I never do see the athletes with big muscles like the soldiers have. According to researchers, it says that a soldier stays in training for 9 weeks but this is the hardest, most toughest nine weeks, but soldiers will always remember them nine weeks for the rest of their life's. Soldiers should get paid more than athletes do.
These reasons are the top reasons why they should. A 2010 military survey found that 27 percent of service members said they had more than $10,000 in credit card debt, while 16 percent of civilians do. The study also found more than a third of military families have trouble paying monthly bills, and more than 20 percent reported borrowing money outside of banks. Soldiers shouldn't have to go through this, athletes don't have to do this because they are getting 10 million dollars by just playing for 5 years. Athletes don't need this much money, soldiers need it more than athletes does. This is why soldiers should get paid
more.
The main reason why the military should be paid more is because compared to professional athletes there is an extreme gap of pay between them. “On average, NBA players make $5.15 million,
College athletes should not be paid it will ruin college sports forever. Some people believe that college athletes should be paid by the school because of all of the hard work they put in however they shouldn’t be paid because there is no fair way to pay every college athlete. There are many reasons that college athletes shouldn’t be paid one of the main reasons is that colleges don’t have enough money, the second reason is that they already get money in the form of scholarships, and there is no fair way to pay each college athlete.
Soldiers, both men and women, risk their lives fighting for our country and when they come home they receive far fewer benefits than would be expected. Throughout history the support for veterans has lessened. The amount of money that is provided to veterans for healthcare and housing after returning to the states has severely decreased since WWI.
I have decided to write a response paper to Ekow N. Yankah’s: “Why N.C.A.A. Athletes Shouldn’t Be Paid”. Although I enjoyed reading his perspective, I do not agree with his statement which addresses that student-athletes shouldn 't get paid. Universities are using their student-athlete’s popularity to promote their athletics program while the student-athletes are unable to promote their own image. Student-athletes work hard day in and day out, basically like having a full time job. Which makes time is also very limited during the day for student athletes to get a real job to pay for the extra expenses that they need. Also, most of the time coaches will not allow the student athletes to work, because of their conflicting schedules with practice.
To summarize, these warriors who have dedicated their lives to serving this country with justice, bravery and dedication have achieved more than what they are recieving now. Dont these amazing men and women deserve more honor and respect by getting the medical attention that they so desperatley earned while defending our liberties and freedoms that make us the strong United States of America that we all have come to love?
On the issue of college athletes getting paid, I believe they should. When I mean getting paid I only mean a stipend or weekly check, not thousands or millions. All the hard work and dedication they put into their sport and academics are worthy enough. I have had a chance to play collegiate sports and it takes a lot out of you mentally and physically. The student athletes deserve at least enough money to have a normal student life. $300-$400 a month should give athletes enough money to get the required necessities. All this does is replace the notion of the athlete getting a job for a source of income. This will also help reduce the rate at which athletes accept money, cars, and gifts from boosters. When athletes get caught accepting something from a booster it looks bad on the athlete and the college. So, in my opinion yes college athletes should get paid, there is too much money that the universities have earned floating around going unanswered for the athletes not to get their cut.
There has always been a differential between civilian income and military and this has only just happened in the past six years. (Army Magazine) This has allowed those who have joined the military to have that pay increase since they are giving more or less their own lives to protect their country. This allows them to realize that they are on a different level than most and gives them the responsibility of that. It is with the military though that the government can increase the economy even providing jobs. (Military Spending Can Grow the Nation’s Economy) This even allows civilians to find jobs in the military and contract out. So the military has also given back to the civilian
...will never be compensation great enough for a vets time in service. Every day of a soldier’s tour there is a chance of their livelihood or life itself to be taken from them, a chance to no be able to return home to their families. For this it would be expected that the government would expend every resource to make sure a soldier is able to live a normal life outside of the military. But instead they receive minimal benefits in their return home. Rather than immediately receive treatment for a mental illness a vet can sit waiting for months at a time pondering suicide. Instead of receiving a college education a vet may end up on the streets alone. As an alternative to spending all of its money on failed projects across the nation, it should instead invest that money into the VA so that veterans might actually receive some type of beneficial help in their return home
There has always been a lot of debate on whether or not college athletes should get paid. With as much money as college sports makes from these student athletes, should these student athletes be getting paid? There are many different stances on why I feel like these student athletes should be getting paid. I will talk about some of the reasons on why they should get paid. Being a student athlete is a very stressful thing in life at that age as they are attending school full time and working extremely hard at being the best athlete they can on the field.
Do athletes get overpaid? Is it fair that the average NFL player gets paid 1.9 million dollars a year while the average heart surgeon gets paid 533 thousand dollars annually? I think that professional athletes don’t get paid too much. There are multiple reasons that proves that their pay is not excessive. Their careers are short, they risk their body for our entertainment, and they motivate children.
Should college athletes be paid just because people make money off of them? The answer is yes, the amount of work college athletes put into their sport when their sport is in season is more than the average worker in america. The NCAA makes more money of their college athletes than the NBA and the NHL combined. The athletes get none of this profit that they so dearly deserve. At least the professional athletes are making money off of them being broadcasted on national television weekly and sometimes dailey.
Everyone knows the dangers of being in the military, many military members put their lives on the line every day. Which makes them some of the most underpaid people in America. One the other hand there are many benefits military members enjoy that many people don’t consider. Military members receive tax free housing and food allowances, free health care, access to high tech training and other educational benefits.
There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play.
Should college athletes be paid? This is a question that has been asked and discussed a million times, and yet, there still isn't a straight answer for it yet. There are many people who say that college athletes should be paid. Although, there are also a lot of people who think otherwise, that college athletes should not be paid. I believe that college athletes should be paid because they work hard at the sport and risk getting injuries from playing the sport and they deserve something for it besides scholarships for schooling.
...ion or are already doing well to provide for their families, they should still be placed into the military. The American government should drill into the head of every adult that they know what’s best for them, because they do. This will ensure the prosperity and competitiveness of this country for many years to come!
