Middle School and AVID has prepared me for high school in many different ways. I will use everything I have learned in middle school and AVID in order to achieve success in high school. I have learned skills such as managing my time, organizing my work, and taking good and quality notes. If I use these skills in high school I know I will succeed. I also know that these skills would make it easier for me to reach my goals in completing dual enrollment and receiving at least a 4.0 GPA.
First I will talk about how middle school and AVID has taught me the skill of managing my time. When it comes to high school I know that time management will play a major role in my success. Time management will help me succeed in high school in many ways. With
managing my time I could give myself due dates for parts of my assignments. You need time management in high school so that you won’t stress over an assignment at the last minute and be forced to either get a zero or procrastinate and lose sleep a night. Next I will talk about how the skill of organizing my work could help me succeed in high school. While being in AVID I was taught how to organize my binder in order to manage all seven of my classes. So what we did was get a three inch binder with dividers to separate all seven classes. On those dividers we labeled our classes in the order in which our schedule is set up. By doing this it helped us to easily find what we need for each class and we could easily flip to the section in our binders to get what we need. We also have an agenda to help remind us of what assignments we need to complete for home work so that we won’t forget. The last thing I will be talking about is taking good and quality notes. Good note taking skills will get a lot of students very far in life depending on how the notes are used. The note taking strategy that I use is named Cornell Notes. These notes have a set up that makes it easier to take notes. I could make level 1, 2, and 3 costa questions to better help me understand what my notes are about. I could also make a summary of my notes that would give me a big picture as if to what my notes mainly cover.
High school did not prepare me for college at all. I didn’t even have to take any finals junior or senior year. Everything was very laid back and I felt like I had all the time in the world. My classes consisted of mainly art and band, so I didn’t have a whole lot of tough, time consuming assignments. The longest paper I have ever written was two pages. Even in my AP Calculus class everything was very laid back. I entered college with the same mindset; I thought I could handle
This essay will explore the authors meaning of reflection, how various reflective styles can benefit the practitioners within their settings, and how important reflection is within Early Years Practice. Time, the most valuable thing humans own, managing it, no easy task especially to a young undeveloped mind of a teenager, but efficiently managing time is a whole different task in itself. Students take part in extracurriculars and sports in which adding a responsibility to their schedule, but a successful student can handle the responsibilities of playing a sport. Additionally, a large part of being a highly effective student is knowing how to efficiently complete assignments, first by planning out a certain day or if the assignment is due the next day than planning out a time during the day where they complete the assignment. Another large part is completing projects and research papers, planning their schedule to complete such tedious and rigorous assignments over a certain amount of days and not just procrastinating. Working with others, an area that many do not consider a necessary skill, where working with others and collaborating is a huge part of adult life. When students can balance their extracurricular activities, plan out tedious assignments and follow through with their agenda, and work well with others and assess their time as well is all a culmination of what effective students have a skill

A High schooler’s transition to college life can be difficult since time management becomes a major priority towards success. In other words, it is up to the student to finish assignments on time. As a previous high school student and now a college student, time management has become a constant concern of mine. My time management was significantly better in high school than college because I didn’t have hard assignments so I didn’t develop strategies for good time management.
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
So far in class, I have learned that a middle school experience is more positive than a junior high. It has greater focus on the whole child instead of just their learning. Middle schools try to fulfill not only a student’s cognitive, but also social emotional needs. They care about their students and take great consideration in their development into teenagers. They don’t just think of their students under one category, they look at each student and try to meet their needs as a middle school

The things I learned I don’t keep to myself but enjoy talking about the things I learned to my friends and family.
