My freshman seminar class hitherto has been good. In this class I have been learning about various topics. These topics fall into helping us for high school and preparing us for the future. These topics was important and necessary because they helped us to avoid from not being successful. One of the topics we have recently accomplished was budgeting. Budgeting is the track of money you receive, but allowing yourself to spend a certain amount without going in debt. Referring back to the statement I mentioned in the previous paragraph, this prepares us for the future. The effect this budgeting projecting has on me, is it taught me a life lesson. The lesson this taught me was that I can’t go all out spending a lot of money. I thoroughly understand this by me ending up on debt on my project. This had caused me to go back and modify my spending. I had to modify most of my wants to needs. Another topic we have learned dealing with the human needs are Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is an …show more content…
organization of the human needs starting from the bottom which is the first and on the top is the last. There are only five levels on this hierarchy. This five levels starting from the bottom to the top are physiologically, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self – actualization. Physiologically is the human basic survival. Which consist of breathing, food, water, sleep, and excretion. Safety is protecting the human body, health, family, and your job. Love and belonging is feeling loved and belonged in friendships and family. This is the level I have reached myself. The next level is esteem. Esteem is thinking highly of yourself or having confidence and respect of yourself. Finally the top level is self – actualization. Self – actualization is being able to accept facts and lack of prejudice. Overall these was the most important human needs. Also not only did we learn about our needs, but what kind of person we are as well. One way we learned about ourselves that helps us for high school is studying techniques.
The different types of techniques we learned had helped improve our studying ways to be better and more efficient. One of my studying techniques is through body movement. I learn through body movement to help me retain most of the information I took from my classes. This helps benefits my grade by if a test is coming up, I know the study techniques I need to apply. However, I have to manage time through the day in order for me to study. Time management is also one of the most important topics we learned and must have to apply with us through high school and college. Time management helps me as a student by managing my time properly to accomplish my work. This helps tremendously by preventing me from getting backed up on work. So basically my first quarter in freshman seminar has been good with me learning skills and life lessons that has either good or bad
effects.
Prompt: In 500 words or more, describe your collegiate experience thus far. How has this experience and the knowledge you've gained influenced what you plan to study? How have they influenced your decision to apply to St. Edward's?
Cy-Fair’s Business and Financial department develops the budget for school administrators. Once the budget summary has been developed the Principal then can decide within the budget how he would like to spend the money given by the district. Certain areas of the budget are to be spend on specific items, for example the budget for “GT/Horizon Supplies” can only be spend on GT instructional needs. On the other hand the budget for “Instructional Supplies” is more flexible. Primary example the after the Principal analyzes what are his campus needs, he then may decide on the materials he would like to spend the money on as long as it supports the needs of his campus. Although the principal is limited on how he
With that being said, this writer can detail various examples where this writer was subject to being put on a budget in personal life as well as at work. For instance, when this writer wanted to make a purchase for something, this writer would put herself on a budget to save enough for that one object. Today, all the bills are kept track of along with the income made to budget myself. Thus budgeting is a never ending story of my life and others as well. However, in these examples budgeting can be a motivating experience as it is a way to keep me on track and knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. In these cases, budgeting in my personal life did and has helped my performance. At work, the budget has been cut on various occasions in which it directly affected individuals at the lower level of the hierarchy, such as myself. For instance, I drive to appointments to meet with clients. On several occasions for purposes of budget cuts, the mileage amount dropped from $0.56 per mile to $0.50 per mile, which made a great difference. Part of me was upset with this cut, however, another was still grateful that I had a job. Budgeting, is central to everyday operations in the workplace, as it is the driving force behind the services that are provided to the clients with DD and what will no longer be provided. In the cases, where some
Budgets are the financial requirements and consequences of plans. Budgets are made with specific goals in mind. Budgets can be used to lower living expenses, increase savings, or to save for a purpose such as: education or retirement. Budgeting is a process that involves these actions: defining goals, gathering information, forming expectations, reconciling goals and data, monitoring goals and variances, adjusting budgets, and redefining goals.
High school is supposed to be a one more step closer to college; it’s supposed to be preparing you for the future right? Wrong. My experience in high school was very different; I never quite fit in with anyone, the “friends” that I thought that I had used me for money. Let’s just say when I was a freshman I had a friend whom I knew from grade school, her name was Meghan Lawrence and she was the kind of person who I really believed I could tell her anything and she would keep it to herself. Once again I was proven wrong, I developed a crush on a boy and she knew that I had a crush on him; one morning before class both he and she went to the corner store, she thought it would be funny to tell him all about my crush, which he tortured me with, playing with my emotions, made me feel like he might actually like me back.
Today is the day. It is the day I begin my Senior AP English class. I have been in a mix of sweat, tears, and adrenaline the build up to this day for more than nine months, since I’ve registered. I’ve never been an AP student, and still don’t feel quite like one. AP, it stands for ‘advanced placement’, though I’ve never felt exactly advanced in anything. Maybe as ‘advanced’ as the first person who discovered a feeble and lazy mule can be born between a male donkey and a female horse, but only to find it’s sympathetic uselessness in not being able to reproduce.
With these three scenarios, I have learned several things about making a personal budget. I learned how to research the economic situation and best predict the prices for certain things. I also learned how best to manage bills under a tight and a very free budget. I learned how to manage money, not just for myself, but for others that I may one day be responsible for.
...or organizational planning process. Several aspects of budget management are, decisions on how money is to be allocated; influence staffing levels; purchase materials and equipment; and the continuing of new technology programs. Each department managers need to be aware of organizational priorities, the impact on services, and new development in their company. Budgeting is a potential weapon to assess company’s financial situations, and tailored its revenue and expenditures for the coming year, in a manner that will help accomplish their projections. For a budget to stay on target, it has to be monitored on a continual basis that will keep track of everyday expenses, sales achievements, analyze debts, the control of cash flow between departments, and apply any type of corrective measures to accomplish a set goal within that organization (NAF, 2006).
This semester I have learned a lot of new things in the first-year seminar. The few things that I have learned about myself and the type of student I am but also what to do to succeed in school. This class has helped me with the transition from high school to college for the reason I talked about before. When I first got here I was afraid of the switch because I would not have the support I had in high school that this class helped me to understand the ropes of college and how to navigate through it. This class has been for me because it has helped me in college.
“A budget is a plan” (Finkler, Kovner, & Jones, 2007, p. 232). The budgeting process consists of two components forecasting the budget and maintaining the budget (Clark, 2005). In the budgeting process, the manager 's responsibilities include accountability, analyzing variances and managing expenses. When the actual budget differs from the forecasted budget, a variance has occurred and needs to be examined further. Budgets can be used in the both the internal and external benchmarking process to see how the organization is performing compared to similar organizations.
Senior year was bittersweet for me. My mother finally agreed to let me drive my senior year. A high school student parking a lot was like the cafeteria room where everyone sat with their cliques. A day before my first day of senior year I was talking to my older brother about how I can finally drive to school. He agreed how it was a big deal and said “Since I don't drive my car that much, you can drive it until you get your own car.” My brother’s car is not just a car it is every high schooler’s dream car. It is a exotic two thousands and fifteen space gray tinted windows BMW seven fifty Li vehicle. It has four automatic doors with light brown leather seats and tinted sunroof. He just had two rules, don't let just anybody in his car and ask

As time goes on, you will find that your original budget has some slaws. Some areas of budget planning might be overestimated, and some areas might be underestimated. Some of the flaws in budget making, for instance, are unemployment because if a person gets unemployed he has to have a strict budget to follow. For example making home food and not going out because that will result him in debt. Some of the other flaws are increase in rent, increase in car insurance because of accidents occurring, credit card payments, groceries, and eating out with friends. All of these flaws can cause a person to be more in debt and cau...
Time management is not a new idea and many methods have been proposed regarding the best way to handle time management issues for business students. These suggestions can often be quite simple, such as writing down lists of things to do in order to support people in making good use of their time for work or recreational purposes. When time pressures are high, planning tasks and actions does not always lead to the completion of the work. It is in recognition of this that time management training programs have been designed, aiming to give an insight into the time required for activities, ways to make time plans, and increasing the efficiency of people by teaching them how to plan properly, how to prioritize tasks, and how to handle unexpected tasks. This is increasingly easy, particularly for students, as “books, articles, and time management training programs that were initially developed for managers have been made available to everyone”.(Claessens, Brigitte J.C. 2004).
Next week, Tina from GI will be helping in the office, and will only be with us 1 week, so I requested that Melanie help Katti next week and today while I visit Princeton. She did not appear open to the request and stated just put me wherever you want. At that point, I requested that we talk. First, I asked if there was anything going on and she mentioned she felt her workload was being monitored. I assured her I am not counting referrals and I ask her for help in other areas because I truly need her assistance. Additionally, I review the conversation she and I had on Friday regarding the definition of self-sufficient and expressed my feelings on the matter. In my opinion, the
