479). Throughout my life, I have always been described by teachers, friends, and family as an introvert. I’m shy around other people and often have a difficult time talking to them. In school, I’m the student that the teacher doesn’t know if I’m in class or not, unless I participate in discussions. It was interesting to learn more about introversion by reading about it in the book and the discussions in class. I was intrigued by the research information in the book, “shyness has a strong biological influence” (Grison, Heatherton,Gazzaniga, 2017, p. 484). My grandfather displayed the same quiet nature. Whenever, I went to my grandparent’s home, I noticed how he sat and listened intently to others, but didn’t speak much. He has always had a quiet nature. In addition, I learned more about the trait from the Eysenck’s Biological Trait Theory of Personality, which described how “personality traits had two major dimensions:

You would think that psychology is strictly a run down of the brains way of functioning and mental disorders truth be told , it is actually way more than that. Psychology deals with everything from the way we sleep to the way that we think. You could say that with out psychology we would not know why we do the things we do nor would we be able to fully understand ourselves and interactions with others. Psychology is the study of our minds and every broad aspect of it. In my opinion the three major concepts that people should know about would be : Nature vs. Nurture, Right brain/left brain functioning, and Social norms . ...understand human nature and explain why humans commit the actions they do. Psychology is the study of human nature and the research behind it provides insights on studies regarding the human brain, human behavior and the “why” behind the actions that people take. Psychology has many pros to it like stated before but there is many more to add to that. It improves communication skills because it allows you to read behaviors and avoid conversations and topics that could cause distraught. Psychology also improves a better understanding of themselves by showing how and why people feel the way they feel and help you cope with unwanted emotions, dealing with pain and resolving undesirable situations. By being able to understand themselves, psychology can teach people to understand the actions and behaviors of others and even predict the actions based upon what they know.

Some areas of psychology are clinical, industrial, physiological, experimental, personality, social, and developmental. Psychologists can work in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation facilities, in public and private clinics or in the research field. They usually treat persons with mental and emotional disorders, so one may ask; why bother with psychology if you do not want to actually work as a psychologist? Even though it happens that i do want to study psychology, this year that i was introduced to it,i discovered that even if i wanted to study something entirely different, psychology would still be useful to me. So when studying psychology, you learn about human nature. This means that psychology actually has impact on every aspect in life. It helps see through the motives other people too have more importantly, it will help you to understand your own motives better. As a result
What is psychology? “Psychology is currently defined as the scientific study of behavior and mental processes” (Roesch). Psychology allows us to figure out what a person is feeling and going through psychologically and it seems like a vital subject for those that will have constant interactions with people. For example, lawyers, teachers, policemen and even doctors have daily interactions with people and yet many have not even given psychology a second though after taking an introductory class in high school or college. How can a subject that focuses on the way people behave and think be regarded as just another requirement to graduate? The thought is quite unsettling and it is unfortunate that psychology has not been given the importance and recognition it deserves.

Writing a self-reflection is never an easy task for me, because I do not like to talk about myself. They are multiple reasons behind this behaviour, one can argue that it might has to do with a low self-esteem, but that will be a simplistic explanation without the necessary background information to make an in-depth analysis of this behaviour.
For everything we do, even if it is our best performance, there is always room for improvement. It could not be different in a career such as teaching. Teachers are always self-reflecting to analyze and evaluate their own teaching methods in order to find out what works and what needs to improve. With this information in hand, teachers can come up with strategies to improve certain areas of their teaching. There are many tools teacher can use to self-reflect. As a teacher, I will continually evaluate the effects of my professional decisions and actions on students through self-reflective journals, video recordings, students’ formal and informal assessments, peer support, student and parent evaluation, and suggestion box.
Personality is the expression of a person’s traits according to ones feelings, mentality and behavior. It involves understanding individuals’ traits such as withdrawal and willpower and how various parts of an individual link together to form personality. Personality expresses itself from within an individual and is comparatively regular throughout in an individual’s life. Different people have different personalities dependent on factors such as environment and genetic composition. Our personality is dependent on the success or failure of our development in the eight stages of life. This is proposed by Erik Erikson. Success in the development stages lead to virtues while the failure leads to malignancies.
The complexities of the human mind, how it works, why it works, and why it deviates sometimes, were the factors that drew me towards the field of psychology. I was born in India and as I was growing up I realized that psychological problems were not discussed in public. As I continue my academic journey I wish to delve into the depths of Clinical Psychology in order to understand psychopathology better and use my knowledge and skills to create customized intervention plans and to facilitate a harmonious living environment.
