Personal Development Plan
This report is a personal development plan that shows an evaluation of
current skills and knowledge that includes my strengths and
weaknesses.
Development is a lifelong of nurturing, shaping and improving an
individual's skills, knowledge and interests to ensure my maximum
effectiveness and adaptability, and to minimize the obsolescence of my
skills and my chances of redundancy. It does not necessarily imply
upward movement; rather, it is about enabling individuals to improve
and use my full potential at each career stage. (Definition of

The personal development plan for me is a chance to know my self
better, I can realize what I want to achieve or where I want to go in
the plan, in the short- or long-term, and also identifying the need
for skills, knowledge or competence. It also helps me to define the
appropriate development to meet those perceived needs. In this report,
I am going to focusing on what my strengths are and where my
weaknesses are, also how to use my strengths in the field I will work
into in the future, and how to develop my weaknesses to be my
strengths as well.
2. EVALUATION OF SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Evaluation is the key stage to the self-development cycle because it
enables me to discover whether that development activity was
worthwhile, applicable, and if and how my skills or working behaviour
as a result. (Kolb argued 1984 -76)
2.1. Technical - course-related
Characteristics of learning styles
Experiential leaning theorists have hypothesized four basic modes in
the learning process.
a. Concrete experience (feeling)
b. Reflective observation (watching)
c. Abstract conceptualization - formation of concepts and
generalizations (thinking)
d. Active experimentation - testing implications of concepts in new
situation (doing)
There are eighty of the learning style questionnaire, through this
questionnaire helped me pinpoint my learning preferences so that I am
a better position to select learning experiences that suit my life.
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs,” was said by motivational speaker and American author Zig Ziglar. This relates to Carol S. Dweck’s article “Brainology” and Sherman Alexie’s essay “Superman and Me.” Ziglar, Dweck, and Alexie all feel that it isn’t easy for someone to become successful. It takes hard work, perseverance, and the want to learn and grow. In Dweck’s article, she stated that someone with a growth mindset would become more successful and knowledgeable than someone with a fixed mindset, which was demonstrated by Alexie in his essay, and by a personal experience of my own.

Setting goals for yourself creates an individual growth. In the article, “Why we are looking at the ‘value’ of college all wrong” by Valerie Strauss, Nelson discusses how an independent learner is able to teach themselves and learn from the challenges they tend to face. “The educated graduate is an independent learner…able to direct his or her own learning in accordance with the challenges that life presents in the circumstances of his or her own life.(Strauss 1)” For example, I want to become Registered Nurse; therefore, I write that down as one of my goals. However, I would then have to write everything else in order to become a Registered Nurse. Having a goal set that I want to become a RN, I now have something to strive at and to motivate myself to reach that goal. Therefore, creating goals helps establish what direction I am trying to go in, and also allows me to figure out how to solve a problem. Another example is if I failed a test, I will try to examine the errors within my work; however, I will then create a goal for myself to make sure I do better on test the next time. Finding the errors and creating goals to fix the errors makes me an independent learner. I am taking the charge that I want to do better; therefore, I am going to create a goal to help me succeed. The aim of this assignment is to provide a critical analysis of theory in relation to psychological and emotional impact and its application to social work. I will look at the psychological and emotional impacts in relation to discriminatory and oppressive constructions in order to develop and demonstrate my understanding of social work within a multicultural diverse society.
In this paper we will discuss how the Immunity to Change (ITC) and the Constructivism Developmental Theory (CDT) can be used in service of personal and spiritual evolution. We will look at an ITC map and the data generated by it and then reflect upon this information. To do this we start by introducing the terms of ITC and CDT and how we can make use of them to support our developmental growth. Furthermore, we are going to explore my personal ITC map and how working with it, through the lens of CDT, has led me to an adaptive change, to my personal growth and evolution.
Ten years ago I was sitting in a classroom striving to understand the English language and how to read and write properly. I am a Mexican immigrant who came into the United States following the “American Dream” in search of a better life. I am a hard working individual with a passion for service and self-determination to make a difference in people’s lives. I come from a family that values unity and service to others. Caring for other people is what I love to do and it’s what makes me feel I have a real purpose in life. A career as a health care professional will fulfil both my personal and professional goals.
In many ways developing a personal improvement plan can help prevent complacency, generate personal growth, and build self-confidence. The basic premise is based on the determination of specific goals, and developing strategies to achieve them. As a forty-seven year old college student, I’ve had my share of implementing improvement plans. Some bore excellent results, while others produced stress and anxiety. Cultivating improvement requires an awareness of your particular strengths and weaknesses, also diligence to work on those areas. In the past, I had a tendency to become depressed, or discouraged when I failed to reach a goal. I am a thinker by nature and apt to experience analysis paralysis, a state in which I become so caught up in planning that I cannot take action. The areas I struggle with the most are, stress management, time management, and finding an optimal learning method in class. It is my plan to overcome these challenges and attain a more empowering perspective, refine my university experience, and ensure that I successfully integrate personal and academic development effectively, in a way most beneficial to my future.
It's hard for me to say where I'll be in the years to come, already my life has strayed from the path I once thought it would follow. However, that doesn't change my motivation or determination to reach and excel at my personal goals. My whole life I've endured a system that dictated what should be important to me, and while it's helped me learn the practical skills I need outside of an academic setting, I have a passion to grow further from what's expected of me, and so with much enthusiasm I look forward to attending college in which I hope to achieve more by constantly learning and expanding my personal knowledge.
The author has designed the personal learning plan around the diagnosis of his learning needs, statement of specific learning objectives, learning resources and strategies, evidence of accomplishment, how the evidence will be validated, and how the learning will be evaluated. I will concentrate on the five disciplines: Systems Thinking, Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Shared Visions, and Team Learning introduced by Peter M. Senge. That is why every leader and employee should create a learning plan, so that they can understand as much about themselves. This allows them not only to believe in themselves, but others to believe in them as well.
Professional development is a lifelong journey. In order for one to examine his/her individual skills, qualities, needs, and opportunities, one must be able to identify future goals. Part of identifying future goals is being able to recognize weaknesses, use of time management, and different ways to invest in oneself to make the most of his/her future. Creating a professional development allows an individual to create an action plan based on his/her values, beliefs, and experiences to advance oneself in a career situation.
The personal leadership development plan is to capture the self-awareness of an individual. People in general have a difficult time trying to figure out who they are and how they view themselves plus how others may see them. This plan will touch on my personal strengths, areas of improvement, and also identify me as a person more in-depth. The Personal Profile System and the Team Dimensions Profile will be used to provide an understanding.
After meeting with the president and listening to the issues and concerns regarding, Jack I would highly recommend for a personal improvement plan (PIP) to be developed. I would suggest for the president to have a one-on-one meeting with Jack regarding the negative feedback he has received from the staff. Jack should be fully aware of the expectations that are being sought as a result of this improvement plan. When laying out the areas of improvement, the first concern would be the negative attitude he has toward his staff. Next, would be to address the several complaints on company surveys from his department as well as outside of his department. These situations take time so I would recommend a 90-day plan with a follow up with the employees immediately after the plan has exhausted. The purpose of the PIP would be to improve employee morale, create a healthier work environment, and assure that the employees are receiving adequate support and resources needed to perform productively.
