It's hard for me to say where I'll be in the years to come, already my life has strayed from the path I once thought it would follow. However, that doesn't change my motivation or determination to reach and excel at my personal goals. My whole life I've endured a system that dictated what should be important to me, and while it's helped me learn the practical skills I need outside of an academic setting, I have a passion to grow further from what's expected of me, and so with much enthusiasm I look forward to attending college in which I hope to achieve more by constantly learning and expanding my personal knowledge.
I was lucky enough to have a privileged youth, from the time I was six-years old my family was traveling. While in countries
perviously unknown by me, my awareness of other cultures and people diversified, I was learning about wars, religions, traditions of countries I hadn't ever considered before. While I was thankful for the opportunity to explore new places, the stigma that Americans had no concern for their education or the world outside of their own discouraged me and bound me to an assumed ignorance- something I was determined to free myself of. It was then that I realized my drive for intellect was beginning to develop. Thanks to the encouragement I received from my family, by the time I was nine I was reading high school material, later when I was thirteen, I had well surpassed my classmates and started reading novels that were set at a college level. My affinity towards reading had only helped to strengthen my mind and manage my wisdom. Today, I've read hundreds of books, each somehow aiding me on my journey to self-improvement. This personal hobby has only helped to enhance skills that would become detrimental to my success in future courses. While reading has aided me in learning more about the world, my passion for traveling in no way distracts from the same cause. Though I've enjoyed my many voyages throughout countries in Europe, I want to go everywhere I can, learn as much as I can about the cultures that connect us as a society, and experience what it is that fundamentally makes us human. A great man I admire, Jimmy Nelson, once lectured in reference to his journeys traveling the world to photograph tribes of people that are disappearing from our existence. After the speech was given I reflected on his words, the beauty he had captured couldn't begin to describe to me all the things left unsaid about their cultures, and who they were as a population, and yet in a few short years they will be forgotten into extinction. Diverse cultures, and a plethora of people whom none of us have considered are worth saving, simply because we don't know they exist. Why is it that in a world of expanding resources we've allowed ourselves to stray so far into indifference? At no point in my life do I ever want to end my consumption of literature, histories, and the sciences. At no point do I ever want to sacrifice the joy I find in building my character through intellect for the ignorance that is inflicted upon my fellow citizens. While my goal of constantly educating myself will take no less than a lifetime, for the time being I want to find a college that will support my passion to grow as a student. That's why I've chosen to apply to this school, based on the merit and scholars that occupy the university, I have no doubt that my choice in applying here will aid me to strive to become a better individual.
As I reflect on my college life, I wonder about the choices I have made that have led me to where I am today and that will guide me into shaping who I long to become. The things I have had to sacrifice, the support and experiences I have had with family, friends, strangers and work colleagues. I don’t know what I will be doing three months or thirty years from now but I do know that I want to have new experiences. When I graduated from high school, I knew I didn’t want to be that person that moved back to the same town and stayed there for the rest of my life. I even contemplate leaving the United States in my adult life. Who really knows, maybe those cards are still in the deck. For now, I know my immediate goals include focusing on completing my college education the best I can, and moving away from my comfort zone, broadening my horizons and taken risks.
The question that people ask a lot is “where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years from now?” When I was presented with this question in high school MY response was “ no one can say where they’ll be, but I know whatever the future bring for me, but I know I will have multiple skills and be the best I can to what I am doing”. Ten years later I’m holding three Diplomas in PC specialist, Facilities Maintenance, Home inspection and one degree in PC maintenance. I now decided to go back to school, but this time for another degree. I have not yet held a position in any of these areas of study because of the lack of job opportunities, Resources, and requirements on a job. Even through a person who has a certification/Diploma has to generally upgrade their skills every few years to be educated on new products that are being implemented into the company for their field of work. Even thought a person who has a certification has to generally upgrade their skills every few year to keep up with newer products in their field of work Trade school students get a better opportunity with a career then college students because of the advantage of years they will have after completion Income wise.
In my opinion, I believe that I am right on track of accomplishing my four year plan A through G requirements. In addition, I definitely believe that I have a plan for my next three years of high school. Furthermore, I am certain that I would graduate high school. Without a doubt, I am in the path of accomplish all my academic goals and extracurricular goals. Not to mention, my goal does not stop at graduating high school, but as well as meeting all the requirements to be accepted in UCs after high school.
that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but I was not sure
There are many things that I hope to accomplish and do when I get older. I want to improve and accomplish different things for myself in my career that I choose, in my material goals, and spiritually. I'm looking at the year of 2009, I will be out of college and be on my feet, hopefully. I have high expectations for myself and hope to accomplish as many of my dreams and goals as I can throughout my life.
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
When I first started attending Riverside City College I struggled with deciding what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Through time I realized I would find myself researching ways how healthy food options can be what the body needs instead of some medicines. Not only would I reasearch for my own personal use, but I would do it out of interest and curiosity. Eventually, through long talks with my mom, she gave me the idea of becoming a Nutritionist and eventually a Registered Dietitian. Originally I was leading towards a clinical career in nutrition and food science because I always wanted to experience working in a hospital, but as of recently my heart has been leaning towards working in a school district.
The lessons I have learned in my life from both my parents and life experiences have fully prepared me to excel in college. Being a part of honors classes and taking multiple advanced placement classes I believe I am very ready for the workload to come ahead. After college I hope to fulfill not only my dream, but also my parent’s dream, of seeing myself become a successful dentist or doctor so I could accomplish all of my other life goals. I hope to be able to build a life and future for myself in
In order for my goals and ambitions to be successful, I need to make sure that I am enjoying what I am doing. When I was younger, I developed many ambitions, but, as I started to become older, reality started to sink in. Some of those ambitions faded away, but others, like going to college and finding a good job, have stayed close. Searching for my future college and trying to decide what I truly wanted to do in life has made me really think long and hard. Looking into the future, it all becomes more of a reality knowing what I want: I want to
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
I have narrowed my future aspirations down to a few different lifestyles. First and foremost, my goal is to graduate high school maintaining my 3.7 GPA and accomplishments/scholarships. One future possibility is for me to join the Air Force, become a pilot and go to full time schooling till I get all my flight hours and my degrees. Depending on how well I do in the Air Force and my rank depends on if I would stay or rank out, meaning once I reach a certain pilot rank I will be able to get honorable discharge and keep my military benefits. If I choose to rank out at around age 23-25 I would go straight into Commercial or Private Charter piloting.
What will I do for the rest of my life? Every person asks this question at some stage of their life, usually during their later teenage years. As a high school junior, I am now asking myself this question. After considerable thought, I have devised a tentative plan for my future. I realize that some of these plans and goals may change over time, but with a plan, the first steps of the journey can begin. To prepare me for the journey, I have taken very challenging high school curriculum, such as Honors and Advanced Placement courses. These classes will not only assist in my admission to college, but have also helped me to develop strong study skills and time management.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
As I prepare to enter my final year of undergraduate education at UC Santa Cruz, I have been spending a lot of time really trying to figure out how I want to use my education after leaving college. Beyond the daunting questions of what I think I could do after graduation or where I am most likely to find a job, I truly want to guide my thinking by where I would do the most good and feel truly fulfilled. Ultimately, the answer is not one I would be inclined to raise my hand for in class: I do not know. I am far from prepared to commit myself to a particular career path, but have many ideas for how I would like to change the world once I leave college. What I do know is that the curriculum I have taken and the organizations for which I have already
The life lessons I have learned in my life are small and big but some won't even apply when i grow up to be a adult but I also have a lot that i always seem to come back to me and I use the lesson when it does. One life lesson is to not give your phones to other people in the public or to people you don't know. The only reason this is a lesson to me because I've had my phone stolen from me.
