Going to college can prove to be stressful on even the most dedicated of students. Whether attending college right from high school, or returning after a break from school all together. The college environment presents a unique atmosphere, and a varying degree of challenges not generally faced in any other form of schooling. There is no skill more vital to a successful college experience than time management. This essay will discuss some of the challenges faced when trying to adapt to the college environment, as well as discuss the importance of time management, and how you can use this skill to become a better learner.
College may be a great deal more challenging to most students when compared to high school. There are many different reasons for this. First, unlike high school, college is expensive. This means most students are required to have some sort of job throughout their college career. Not only must students manage time adequately to accommodate a full time learning schedule, but most are forced to do so while balancing at least a part time job. Next, college is much less structured than high school. In high school, student’s classes are arranged for them, students are not responsible for knowing the criteria for graduation, and class outlines are specific and presented in an easy step by step outline. This is not the case in college. College is a student’s first test of self-reliance. Students must arrange their own schedules and are responsible for knowing what classes are needed in order for them to graduate. They must learn to manage their own time effectively, as course outlines are broader, and require students to set their own priorities and balance responsibilities. Homework is not generally checked or grade...

Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
Students tend to choose to attend high schools that are closer to their home, so they can have access to easier transportation. That being said, students in high school come from the same area. In high school, there are fewer clubs and organizations. Because faculty runs clubs and organizations, if a student wants to create a club, it usually takes a long time because they need the approval of their teachers and faculty. Since students abide by their parent 's rules and live at home, they have little to no social life outside of high school. In college, students are independent and therefore have to be careful of their

I write this clear and concise reflection to identify and evaluate an academic problem that I feel is negatively impacting my studies which is time management; otherwise, I find lot of difficulty to manage my time.
Time management is essential in the workplace and it can help eliminate many other problems that could arise if time is poorly managed. By using the various time and stress management techniques available it is possible to reduce or even eliminate stress. A person who manages their time well can benefit from an organised, manageable workload with enough time to complete the jobs and tasks that are of any importance. Time management can have a direct effect on a persons stress levels and it is important that stress levels are kept to a minimum to ensure optimum performance, efficiency and general well being.
Students who make the transition from high school into college have difficulty adjusting because many are not used to being on their own nor their new environment. Entering college, you come to understand that it is not the same as high school. There are crucial differences like the level of academic responsibilities, time management and scheduling, as well as the method of learning. College and high school are different in many ways but they both ultimately share the same goal in teaching students to learn.
Schooling is a very important aspect in our lives and one must go through many steps to gain a higher education. Two of these steps are high school and college. Although high school and college students aim for the same goal, which is acquiring an education and graduating, the demands, expectations, and social atmosphere extremely contrast.
The problem of time management can be said to be universal not only affecting students but also other people in careers. This problem is seen to transition from a person’s life from different cadres of his or her engagement specifically from home, school and at work. It is also a problem that is internal and not external.
The main similarity between the two is the schoolwork. In both high school and college, people go to class. Neither college nor private high schools are free, so people have to pay for them. Even though people have to leave their friends in high school, they will always make new ones in college. No matter if people are in college or high school, they will always have friends. Like high schools, colleges have clubs and sports. The main difference is that colleges have more of a variety in both areas. Clubs in college may have scholarship programs available, whereas high schools do not. Sports, however, are mostly the same at colleges and high schools. People who attend high school and college are more likely to be successful because both prepare people for the
What do we know about time management? As adults we should know a lot about time management. We all strive to become the best that we can be. This alone should encourage us to learn about time management. Every aspect of our lives depends on it. If we try to plan, organize, and execute our ideas most of the time we can manage it well, but when we go the other route, and jump out there feet first, most of the time we do not do as well. This is not the case in every light, but usually it is the norm. Even as we sit in class trying to better ourselves by improving on our education, we learn that we must manage time to the best of our abilities. This is not done only for school, but for our families for those of us that have children and spouses. A lot of the time, we manage to get everything done and leave ourselves out in the cold when it comes to making time for ourselves. If it is not our job or school we are trying to meet someone else's needs.
Learn to manage your time wisely. Plan ahead! Time management can help you stay calm and focused regardless of the current situation you are in.
The biggest difference between high school and college is the amount of responsibilities and independence. The biggest difference between high school and college is the amount of responsibilities and independence that I have. I am responsible for registering for the classes, I need to take, meeting with a counselor, paying for me fees, and ordering my parking permit. College is a lot of pressure because it can really determine my future. If you do not succeed in college then it’s my fault, my money and time that is wasted.
(Claessens, Brigitte J.C.2004). adds that time “cannot be managed, because time is an invariable factor. Only the way a person deals with time can be”. Nevertheless, time management has become increasingly essential to businesses and organizations. This is especially true over the last two decades, as a result of expanding global competition and increased demands for the immediate availability of products and services. Given the increased pace of everyday life, people increasingly need to be more organized. Efficient time management practices support business students in acquiring key skills that will assist them both in their educatio...
