Working in this profession has helped me build my confidence and social skills, I have learnt how to talk to all manners of personalities and has given me an experience of a working environment. I understand that to get a job in the media profession, practical experience is needed just as much as the qualification. This is why I have put in effort into participating in relevant extracurricular activities during college, such as filming student performances and productions and being an ambassador at open evenings at South Cheshire
The Entertainment Industry is an expanding industry with numerous career opportunities especially for the quick learning students in today’s world. I chose to study the entertainment industry because I have always had a passion for it. I grew up with music always playing on the radio and if the radio was off, the television was tuned into some show. I know many people listen to music and watch television all the time, but there is so much more to this industry. Being so passionate has led me to studying specific things in the industry and learning the ins and outs of it, which is helping me to find a potential career. There are many people in the industry that I look up to and one person, who has made it in particular, is Debra Rathwell.
The ability to create incredible stories that leave lasting impressions is what motivates me to become a television comedy writer. The Television Academy fosters and educates the next generation of creative professionals in a way that ensures they have the fundamental tools when they enter the entertainment industry. The Media Production department at Bowling Green State University has given me opportunities to develop valuable skills about the production process that would expand through the Television Academy’s Comedy Screenwriting Internship.

Theme is a message about life or human nature that the author writes about to get the reader to understand their work. Theme is important in writing because it helps the reader understand the story and better connect to main idea that the author is trying to convey. The two text that will be focused on are To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and various short stories from Eight Men by Richard Wright. To Kill A Mockingbird tells a story of the events that occur in the town of Maycomb County, Alabama, through the eyes of a young and curious girl named Jean Louise Finch (a.k.a Scout). Eight Men features eight short stories about eight men who encounter different situations.
Since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to become rich and famous. I know, who doesn’t right? I dreamt about having everything I have always wanted such as video games, movies, new technology, and even books. My way of getting there was becoming a well-known and high-paid actor. Then it became an Author, Fashion Designer, Interior Designer, Musician, Screenwriter, Video Game Creator, and finally a Film Director.
With all the technological advances in the last twenty years and the rise of social media in the last ten, it is not unreasonable or inconceivable to suggest that the electronic media devices present in children and adolescents’ bedrooms are inhibiting normal sleep processes and resulting in tiredness at school and the onset of Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder (DSPD). There have been a growing number of studies conducted all over the world that support this theory, only some of which will be cited in the following essay. Increasingly, the evidence found shows that children and adolescents with electronic media devices in their bedrooms have poorer bedtime and sleep habits and a worse quality of sleep than those without.
My deepening interest in film started in Media Studies in Year 10 and ever since my fascination for film has grown and grown. I am deeply intrigued by the creation of film and the huge influences that it has on our society. I am applying for this course because I would love to further deepen my knowledge and experience of filmmaking to compete in the ever changing and competitive industry it is part of. I know this course would give me the opportunity to do so.
I believe that a course in Media is the right one for me not only due to media being a interest of mine, but as my hopeful career path. The production of media particularly is something that has gripped me, firstly starting off just as a hobby, making YouTube videos with friends, before turning into a serious choice for my profession. I am currently studying Media Studies, Film Studies and Psychology at A2 Level and I have completed an AS Level in photography. My favourite part of AS Media was creating an opening to a film for our coursework as it meant I could be involved in the production side.
Perhaps the strongest foundation for media education rests in the fact that increased awareness of media transforms students from passive to active participants in society. Learners must be offered hands-on application opportunities to increase their own knowledge and enjoyment of the media. The integration of formal media analysis with media production is an essential constituent of media literacy. Creative ventures, such as television or radio production, the development of a rock video or song, photography classes, script-writing, web-page development, or hypertext projects should be made available for students' participation and perusal. Students must be exposed to various forms of communication before they can recognize logical disparities, determine the strength of an argument, evaluate mass media, and actively join our democratic society as partners.
I have always been fascinated by the written word, whether it be on television or in a magazine, the way in which we communicate our ideas and emotions via the 27 characters of the English language is a feat in and of itself. This is one of the many reasons why I chose Media Studies Production as one of my majors at Temple University. I am overjoyed to study the art of media in the School of Media and Communication and I intend to apply my skills in service of the world at large. While words and written media have been a concentration of mine, I have had a limited exposure to the production side of my practicum. Classes such as Intro to Media Tech, Media and Society, and Intro to Media Theory have truly helped me to understand the inner workings Upon applying to Temple I felt a compulsion to pursue my love of writing, and yet I felt a responsibility to uphold the nine-year commitment bound to me by my own love for music as well as to the investment of scholarship made out to me on behalf of the Jazz department.
Throughout the years, technology has vastly developed, and is growing everyday. There has been more diverse ways to connect through an extension in development. There has been a growth in these forms of electronic communication, which has largely been made possible through computer technology, 'new media'. This term is in relation to 'old media' forms, such as print newspapers and magazines that are static representations of old text and images.
Luckily, I have been ahead of the game getting into broadcasting at a young age, helped me develop my skills both in front and behind the camera. Other skills required to be successful in this career are to be confident and comfortable, being able to meet other people and talk to them without being nervous, or completing any task given to me. I believe I would be a very good fit with these skills as I have been practicing them in my everyday life and in school. The job market trends in my future profession vary.
If one asked “What is media literacy?” a majority of people would be puzzled. Some would say that it is the ‘written’ part of media that is not usually seen or a written layout of how media should be produced. The bulk of people would say they have no idea what media literacy is. People in today’s society should be informed about media literacy. Society should be informed of what media literacy exactly is and how it applies to the field of communications.
I am writing to you, to both inform and educate you as to why the subject of Media and Communications is just as a vital subject at university as is Maths or English. I shall be exploring the benefits and positive factors in regards to studying media and communications at university and, aim to explain to you that it is as a wonderful subject as it sounds.
