. Prioritizing my daily activities based on importance has provided me with an starting point to increase my daily productivity.
The skill set worksheet confirmed areas of strength and weakness that I either knew I had or learned I had from the teachings of this course. What I found remarkable about this assessment is the sheer number of skills that are listed on this assessment. I severely underestimated all of the factors that contribute to effective leadership. I plan to utilize this worksheet to map out how many of these skills I use utilize during the course of a week. By doing so I can identify what skills I am not utilizing or potentially avoiding.

I place a strong emphasis on trying to deeply understand my employees and utilize this information to strengthen my relationship with those individuals. Engaging in open communication even in difficult situations has been successful in most cases due to the fact that a solid relationship based on genuine caring has already been established. Motivating employees becomes less of a challenge when you understand their feelings and what inspires them. Investing time in understanding one’s emotions has been the cornerstone of my ability to develop meaningful working relationships. An obvious benefit from this style of management is hearing several different opinions on solutions to a problem which may lead to better overall decisions making. Employee buy in is dramatically increased by involving staff in this process especially when suggestions they present are incorporated into the solution. This approach teaches employees how to communicate with one another and actively listen to others ideas. Additionally, this style encourages employees to be creative problem solvers instead of just focusing on day to day tasks. New leaders will develop in this group setting and once identified can be given additional responsibilities and considered for future promotion. Employee engagement and satisfaction will increase as members of the team are empowered to solve problems.
