WOOSTER — For their outstanding commitment to the Wooster Post and the public it serves, recently Justin Ross was named Trooper of the Year and Heather Carr was named Dispatcher of the Year. Ross' selection came by way of a resounding vote from his peers, said Post Commander Lt. Stephanie Norman. And, although he's only been with the patrol for five years, she said, “When you say 'Justin Ross,' a lot of people know who he is. I haven't heard a bad thing said about him. “He has a great working relationship with all the departments. He's a very agreeable person, and he does everything you could ask of him.” We're always asked if officers are doing anything else, you can win award without, involved outside division, shows the kind of person he is, involved in wrestling program, teaching them how to be young men and young ladies, how to work hard and how to survive, positive impact on children. Volunteering, he actually cares. Takes time to talk to all the kids before and after practice. To me, I like that. Takes time to talk and actually listen to them. …show more content…

“I continued to do my job (at the Post) when a lot of people might have shut down,” said Ross, who looks forward to taking another shot at the SRT in the future, when he has more seniority of his own. In his own time, Ross also serves as an assistant coach for West Holmes' Attack Team youth wrestling
