Robin Morgan was a powerful figure associated with contemporary US feminism. Robin Morgan is prominent for being an activist and radical feminist. Moreover, she had various, significant impacts on the American women’s movement for several years. She was very much a strong presence in the women’s movement. She was an active participant and possessed memberships in various feminist organizations. In addition to that, she not only joined these groups, but she also went on to create numerous other organizations associated with feminism and the cause of uplifting women spirit. Morgan was also a key organizer for the Miss America 1968 protest. The popular tradition of the Miss America pageants had long since been a particular target for feminists. Many feminists had very severe and critical opinions on the matter. They considered Miss America pageants to be associated with treacherous practices and customs. Essentially, they interpreted these pageants to be displays or impressions of women exhibiting submission and servility to men. With that picture in mind, many feminists thought very harshly of the concept of Miss America pageants. And ultimately to the feminists, these perspectives exhibited men as possessing more superiority over women, which in turn, caused Robin Morgan and other feminists to be very dismayed and unsettled. The feminists chose the Miss America pageant of 1968. Regarding this particular year, the Miss America pageant would endure a tough protest from feminists. In addition, Robin Morgan wrote a letter to a Mayor, Richard S. Jackson, in which she requested permission to have a demonstration in Atlanta city regarding a protest on Miss America pageants. (Letter to Richard S. Jackson) And on September 7th, 1968, the protest took place. Feminists and other supporters of their beliefs and values had appeared with picketed boards with written messages. Outside under the sun, they displayed and chanted their beliefs. Later around the afternoon, a few crowds of approximately a hundred people had gathered. A bit later, the plan progressed and during the confirmation of the new Miss America, approximately fifteen women sneaked into the event and proceeded to protest. As a result from the disruption, however, police came to arrest those women, who were then placed on high bails.
