All individuals have unique skill sets and strengths. Having knowledge of our strengths and focusing efforts on utilizing and improving these can greatly improve individual success. The Strengths Quest Assessment is a tool that helps individuals identify and assess their unique strengths and skills. The five strength themes that I received are individualization, futuristic, strategic, discipline, and significance. I was somewhat surprised by some of these results, however, after analyzing what each strength means in my life, I have a better understanding of how I can use these to help me succeed in my education and future career.
The first strength that I received was individualization. The individualization strength allows me to view people as individuals rather than using generalizations to understand people. I am able to pick out the unique things about each person to understand how they think, learn and act. This strength allows me to better understand what I can do to work better with different people to help both of us succeed. I see these strengths playing out in my life through friendships and other personal relationships as well as working with other students in class. I can use this strength to be successful by using it to help me understand other people’s strengths and weaknesses. I can also use this to

It also means that my life is full of goals that are important to me in order to feel successful and significant. By using the acknowledgement and praise that I would like to receive from others as motivation to succeed, I can use this strength to help me push myself in school and in my career. Unfortunately, this can also hinder my success if I allow myself to become too absorbed in what others think of me. This strength plays into my life in many ways because it can motivate me to try and do bigger and better things and work
Identifying and understanding your own personal strengths is key to being a successful leader. Knowing your strengths means you can focus your efforts to maximize results, in yourself and in others. Strengths Finder 2.0 is designed to uncover your strengths and utilize these strengths to your advantage (Rath, 2007). Identifying and applying these strengths to your leadership style, will enhance your effectiveness as a transformational leader.
The Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment with a fun experience that provided very useful information about myself. The questions were interesting and thought provoking. However, the time limit on each question meant that most responses were my first instinct or gut response. I think the time limit keeps a person from over thinking the questions and makes them respond with an answer that is true to who they are. I agree with the five strongest areas identified in my assessment which were strategic, futuristic, learner, command, and ideation (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006)
I was excited to take the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment. Although I am more reserved and shy, I typically find myself placed in leadership positions. I am always surprised when people refer to me as a leader but family members and close friends have made me more aware of this personality characteristic. I really enjoyed taking the Gallup Strength Finder assessment and I can see why this would be an assessment growing in popularity across the globe. When I finished the assessment, my results showed that my strengths, from first to last, are developer, empathy, input, connectedness, and restorative.
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
I tend to agree with this assessment as it brings out my best qualities as strengths in the right way and enables me to assess myself to realize my potential. The strength that can best describe me is the balance which also means consistency. This has helped me cultivate my reputation and has helped me balance my choices. The one that surprised me is courage since at most times I am a team player, and this rarely enables me to stand out
Millions use StrengthsFinder for its unique capacity in charting any individual’s top five talents. The ability to uncover one’s particular set of talents is a discovery that can lead to further development and wisdom in one’s life.
One strength I saw myself, as having when I enter college is being able to understand and critical think about a essay/article that I have read. However, after taking English 101, I have now learned that this is a strength of mine as well as a weakness.
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).
Writing about my personal strengths is a challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my character. However, to attack my weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that need some redefining of certain skills to make greatest success in life. My life is not defined by weaknesses, but more so the makeup of my personal strengths.
Part I. Strengths Personal Profile System Two strengths I learned during my Self Awareness assessment were being a good listener and showing loyalty. I really try to be a good listener in all situations. I like to hear the whole story or complete process, whatever it may be. I am cautious about making decisions without having all the details.
Strength is a term with many definitions. What does strength mean? Anyone can sit down and start to write down their strengths but, how many different types of strengths are there? There are personal strengths, mental strengths, and spiritual strengths that all have a positive effect on people’s lives. Throughout life, strength is what helps overcome the problems we face. Strength is defined by Dictionary.com as “a good or beneficial quality or attribute of a person or thing.” No matter what kind of strength different people in society have; strength is something gained through personal experiences and life. Strength is having the mind set to overcome all of life’s challenges and battles.
My first strength is kindness. Since I am mostly around children, kindness allows them to like me and be comfortable around me. The last strength is listening, I listen to all of my friends if they need someone to talk to. Listening allows me to be their support system. Even though I have different strengths, there are also some challenges. Some of these challenges are similar to the life of St. Francis and St. Clare. Some of my challenges are deciding whether I picked the right choice and ability to handle change. There are many events in my life where I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision or not. For example, I recently switched my major and I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice and if my parents would agree with it. This is similar to St. Francis’s life because he kept changing what he wanted to do with his life and wanted his parents approval. Francis was still his father’s son, unconsciously pursuing what his father valued reputation, status and wealth (Sweeney, 2014, p.34). Francis wanted to this in order to make his father proud but as time went on he knew what he wanted to do even though his parents might not agree to it. Francis always questioned himself in the decisions that he made frequently ( Egler, October 2015). Another challenge is the ability to handle change. I have a difficult time trying to accept change because I usually like the way things are. I don’t like change when I have no control over
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
