Classroom Procedures
Procedures are very crucial for a good classroom management. Procedures are need to be taught and practiced. Good procedures prevent or reduce interruptions and distractions that can slow down content development activities and the student learning. I will establish some useful procedures in my class so that those procedures can help me manage the class properly and also reduce some disciplinary problems that can cause any interruptions. At the first of the day of the class, I will introduce some quiet signals to the students. I will clap my hands twice, to seek attention from the students. This will eventually, helps me to control the class noise and the students will straight away, stop their work and look

I will make a lesson plan on the topic that I am going to teach. I will plan on that standard, objective, list of activities, time allocated and also the materials. This is very important as this will guide me on what and how am I going to carry out the lesson. I will also make some few other alternative lesson plan if in case, some interruptions occur. Moreover, I believe planned lessons will surely be successful, than the unplanned or spontaneous one. I will explain to them briefly on what are they going to do on that day. Later, at the end of the class, I will write the homework on the side of the whiteboard, where the students can copy …show more content…
There are many videos available on the net. Videos will eventually attract attention of student and will help them to concentrate for longer and have fun in the class.
Next, all children get excited with card games. So, I will take this idea, the students will play cards with their peers. I will modify the game according to my lesson. I will use the cards game to introduce studen s some idioms, tenses or verbs. For an example, I can extract the idea from "UNO" Moreover, I can also create some other games, such as snake and ladder.
Furthermore, I will also use flashcards, Big book to teach. This tools and materials of teaching will attract the students and they will enjoy the teaching. Other than that, I will have my very own puppet show. I can use the puppet show, while introducing the topic.
Next, I will use songs to teach grammar. I will play the song in the class for several times. Then, I will omit certain words from the lyrics and ask the students to fill in the blank. The students will be learning grammar in the way, than the old boring
Lesson plans are very well organized including visuals for the materials being illustrated. Academic vocabulary is addressed in many ways. For example, key concept and vocabulary words will be introduced to the students at start of lesson using building background. Students will be provided a hard copy of anticipation guide and words will be displayed on the Smart Board, too. Students will be provided with
“Power is exercised only over free subjects, and only insofar as they are free. By this we mean individual or collective subjects who are faced with a field of possibilities in which several ways of behaving, several reactions and diverse compartments may be realized.” (Foucault)
Lesson plans are one of the most valuable tools a teacher have, however they are rendered useless without a suitable evaluation by both the teacher and the learners’. With completed evaluations this ensures the teacher is adapting to the learners needs. A teacher should record their own evaluation as well as that of their learners as soon as possible after the lesson has finished and record the changes they think necessary in order to improve the lesson while it is still fresh in their mind.
They need to make lesson and they have to check on different websites and they need to go to library to “Select books, materials, supplies, and equipment for training, courses, or projects. Present lectures and guide discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence. Observe and evaluate students' work to determine safety and progress” (Esl).
Classroom management starts, for me, with very clear expectations, and firmly established procedures. I begin the year (or semester) with a more formal, regulated tone, and have so far been able to end each year and semester with an atmosphere of relaxed mutual respect. I value students’ self-control over being in control. Room Arrangement One of the goals of my room set-up is to minimize non-instructional interaction. This sounds a bit impersonal and harsh, but its intent is to keep students on task, give them consistency in behavioral expectations, and to minimize their attempts to derail my teaching.
The last bit of management comes in the miscellany of classroom events such as bathroom management, taking attendance, misbehaviors, etc… In this regard I turn to Wong’s emphasis on having procedures in place that students are well versed in via teach, rehearse, reinforce. The goal is making the students self-aware of the class environment and reacting accordingly. An example of this will be my management of bathroom breaks in which only one student at a time is allowed to leave. Once student “A” asks to use the restroom student “B” knows to wait until student “A” has returned before asking to use the restroom. This “withitness” in the classroom will be pivotal in aiding my classroom management, and will showcase a sense of harmony amongst the class.
During my student teaching experience, I spent a lot of time preparing each lesson plan to cover the main topics of the lessons. I realized that I needed to be prepared as much as I could, more importantly, I needed to prepare to be flexible to adjust the lesson plans to be comprehensible for all the students because they all learn at different styles. I found that making the day go as smoothly as possible allows the students to gain the most from the lessons. Showing confidence and being involved enriched the student teaching experience.
The second component I believe must be included in my lesson plans would be my students. I will be going teaching everything I need to teach my students by following the schools curriculum but I want to include my students in this process. By that I mean I want my students to help me plan how I teach them.
When planning, a teacher must first have an idea of what it is that they are going to teach to students. Once that is decided, the teacher must then develop a goal for the skill which he/she will be teaching to know exactly what it is that they want students to gain from the lesson, unit or course. Next the teacher must consider whom it is that they will be teaching. One might think “oh that’s easy, the students…duh”, but it is not that simple. When considering whom you will be teaching, one must first think of what type of learners they possess in their classroom (i.e. kinesthetic/tactile, auditory and visual learners) and one must have identified who their enrichment and remedial students are in the classroom. The teacher must then identify and pinpoint exactly how they will teach that skill to their students. He/she must consider characteristics such as what materials will I use, will I have enough materials for the students to work individually or do they have to be grouped and so forth. The next question that should arise when planning is how will I manage the learning environment. The teacher will
To me, this includes not only lesson planning, but spatial changes and designs in the room, organization, and classroom management. One of the many desirable traits of teachers mentioned in On Being a Teacher: The Human Dimension (Kottler, Zehm, Kottler, 2005) is being “well organized and a good manager” (p. 21). Having my mission statement easily accessible aids in being both organized while planning and capable of managing my class efficiently. Daily lesson plans are where the bulk of classroom instruction is based. Keeping lessons approachable and within my students’ zone of proximal development allows to me to reach my goals of allowing all students to learn and keeping them engaged in learning.
I have planned my lesson this way starting with the aim, goals, primary and secondary problems and ways to solve them to create a non exhaustive document that describes every classroom scenarios. Providing me with a general outline of my teaching goals, learning objectives and means to carry out them. Though I know that it cannot go exactly as planned, but I know that both students and myself will learn from each other.
The main objective of teaching at any level of education is to bring the fundamental change in the learner (Tebasal&Kahssay 2011). To facilitate the transmission of knowledge to learners. The teachers should apply the appropriate teaching method that will be suitable and specific at the level of secondary schools. Many teaching practitioners employ learner centred method until today, questions about effectiveness of teaching methods on student learning have consistent raised considerable interest.
Mayer acknowledges learning as a combination of three components: long term change, behaviour of the learner and learners’ experiences by stating “Learning is the relatively permanent change in a person’s knowledge or behavior due to experience”(Mayer, 1982). The ultimate goal of teaching methods are to ensure the learning in students. Broadly, teaching methods can be categorized in three types: teacher centered methods, student centered methods and participative methods. Lecture method lies in teacher centered method. Having some drawbacks lecture method of instruction emerges and still in primary method of teaching. Sewasew et al asserts that lecture method is more applicable than modern approach of teaching, like powerpoint presentation,
In my classroom I will have the seats arrange in a semi-circle because all the students can see you and the chalk-board easier. It also prevents the children that like to sit in the back of the classroom. It will involve everybody in the learning process. I will have bulletin boards up according to the time of the year it is. In the fall, I will put up leaves on the bulletin board to show the leaves are changing, and they are falling off the trees. For winter, I will put snowflakes on the board to show it is cold outside. For spring time, I will have the leaves coming onto the trees, and showing how the things outside are changing back to green. I will have projects going on throughout the year. I will have children play games to help them study for upcoming test. I will have items on a bulletin board to show how well the children are behaving. I will give ...
In the process of completing this coursework, I have realised that every teacher should be all-rounded and equipped with adequate skills of educating others as well as self-learning. As a future educator, we need make sure that our knowledge is always up-to-date and applicable in the process of teaching and learning from time to time. With these skills, we will be able to improvise and improve the lesson and therefore boost the competency of pupils in the process of learning. In the process of planning a lesson, I have changed my perception on lesson planning from the student’s desk to the teacher’s desk. I have taken the responsibility as a teacher to plan a whole 60-minutes lesson with my group members. This coursework has given me an opportunity
