Mayer acknowledges learning as a combination of three components: long term change, behaviour of the learner and learners’ experiences by stating “Learning is the relatively permanent change in a person’s knowledge or behavior due to experience”(Mayer, 1982). The ultimate goal of teaching methods are to ensure the learning in students. Broadly, teaching methods can be categorized in three types: teacher centered methods, student centered methods and participative methods. Lecture method lies in teacher centered method. Having some drawbacks lecture method of instruction emerges and still in primary method of teaching. Petrovic et al (2015) denote the various properties of live lectures. The researchers investigated students' opinions regarding lecture attendance, inherent disadvantages of live lecture, and lecture interactivity. Their findings revealed that students are informed about the limitations of lecture methods. However, students decision to attend or not to attend the lectures are not affected by this awareness. Dai (2014) revealed that oral skills are key for starting a career in this modern time. The investigator tried “to discover the best method to help business students enhance their oral communication skills during their college years“. Their findings revealed that discussion based pedagogy with lecture method is a valuable method that can improve students' communication skills during the course. Lecture method is not as learner friendly, in initial classes it is not recommended to use. But at higher level classes it is the one effective solution for teaching and learning. Petricig remark is little bit different in the sense that he emphasize both individualized instruction and lecture method. He describes a remedial college course in intermediate algebra that was designed to improve student success rate and suggests that the course was easy and inexpensive to implement and required a minimum of reorganization. That's why he recommends to use both modern individualized instruction with traditional lecture method to instruct college level algebra students (Petricig, 1988). Goffe & Kauper (2014) posited that lecture is the dominant method for teaching principles of economics. To uncover the reality of this assumption, they investigated why instructors are using the lecture method as a means of instruction.
