My Teaching Style
Pragmatist teaching style is the best way to describe my style of teaching. I will involve the kids in hands on learning. I want to be an educator because I want to make learning more fun for the children. I also love to work with children.
I really like to work with children, and I would like to work with the children to help better them in school. Working with children in helping them learn makes me feel great. I am more of a progressive when it comes to my philosophy of education. I think you should have children based activities in the classroom. Children should have more hand-on activities to help them learn. I think the teacher should deal with the small problems there in the classroom, and not involve the office. Involving the office too much could result in losing control of your classroom.
In my classroom I will have the seats arrange in a semi-circle because all the students can see you and the chalk-board easier. It also prevents the children that like to sit in the back of the classroom. It will involve everybody in the learning process. I will have bulletin boards up according to the time of the year it is. In the fall, I will put up leaves on the bulletin board to show the leaves are changing, and they are falling off the trees. For winter, I will put snowflakes on the board to show it is cold outside. For spring time, I will have the leaves coming onto the trees, and showing how the things outside are changing back to green. I will have projects going on throughout the year. I will have children play games to help them study for upcoming test. I will have items on a bulletin board to show how well the children are behaving. I will give ...

I am planning to continue my education by going onto graduate school. I am hoping that furthering my education will have a positive effect on my teaching style. My mentor teacher will help me further my education in ways of them teaching me the ways of teaching in that school system. I will be willing to take in information from outside the classroom, and use it in my everyday teaching style. My development in the future will be helped out through my mentor teacher, and the efforts of the other teachers. I will bring my own ideas into how I teach in the classroom. I will bring in new stuff to teach the students of how or not how to do things. I will always explain to my students, like the 9/11 tragedy, of the importance of what just happened in the world. I will make everything clear that is happening in the world.
Boredom was everywhere in my world, and if you asked the kids, as often as I did, why they felt so bored, they always gave me the same answers: They said the work was stupid, that it made no sense, that they already knew it. They said they wanted to be doing something real, not just sitting around. They said teachers didn’t seem to know much about their subjects and clearly weren’t interested in learning more. And the kids were right: their teachers were every bit as bored as they were
to act differently. While bored people may do things like act and think hastily and also commit crimes in hopes of satisfying their urge for fun and pleasure. All these feelings have different causes but most include interaction with people, television and different chemical balances and imbalances within the a person’s body.
People say boredom is caused when someone is left with nothing to do. I strong disagree. Boredom is something much more primitive that just lacking things to do. How times have we had an important task, but could never complete it because we felt bored right in the middle of doing it? Boredom can strike anybody, and there are no explainable causes for it; you just feel bored.
Arthur Schopenhauer once said that “If life — the craving for which is the very essence of our being— were possessed of any positive intrinsic value, there would be no such thing as boredom at all: mere existence would satisfy us in itself, and we should want for nothing,” but apparently it doesn’t because there is boredom. Is something wrong with being or is something awesome with us. Nearly two hundred years ago in a letter to his father Giacomo Leopardi said “ Boredom is the most sublime of all human emotions because it expresses the fact that the human spirit, in a certain sense, is greater than the entire universe. Boredom, is an expression of a profound despair at not finding anything that can satisfy the souls boundless needs.” so even though being bored seems trivial, childish, rude and even embarrassing at times, boredom certainly isn’t boring. Although many people may see boredom as trivial and temporary, it actually is linked to a range of psychological, social, and health problems that exist all around, connecting us.
Boredom makes us do crazy things. When you are bored, it is an act of idleness and listlessness. Sometimes we try to alleviate our state of dullness by performing acts that make us excited and give us a surge of energy. According to
Boredom is a circumstance that everyone must face at some point. It is a time when one experiences a close proximity with oneself and doesn’t know what to do with oneself in that situation. It is merely an expression of dissatisfaction. Everyone experiences boredom and it is inevitable, but how does one escape it? Boredom must be escaped by doing or even imagining something that one can derive pleasure from. Søren Kierkegaard, in his book Either/Or experiments with escaping boredom and narrows it down to two different aesthetes, which means finding meaning through pleasure. The first is the Reflective Aesthete which is essentially the possibility of doing something, but not actually doing it. The second is the Immediate Aesthete which is essentially
Are you spending time on Snapchat? Adding pictures onto your profile? And suddenly, the power goes out, and you just get bored. Thinking about all the possibilities of things you can do, but not being able to do those leaves you in a feeling of boredom? Boredom is a problem that gets to the best of us, happening when people lose interest in doing something. Some people may argue that boredom is good for you, but in the end, boredom has more negative effects, eventually being bad for you.
Every teacher has a different method of teaching. The teachers that I have had in my school career have been no exception. In this way, each teacher has set an example for me, as a future teacher, to follow or not to follow as I see fit. With the examples from my teachers and in continuing my education, I am developing my own method of teaching. I plan to use a combination of teaching methods in my own classroom. My method will be an eclectic approach because I will be using components of more than one philosophy. I will be using essentialism, behaviorism, progressivism, and existentialism.
I have found that my philosophy of education is a combination of two philosophies. They are Idealism and Realism. I also agree with two points in the Existentialism and pragmatism philosophies. L believe that a teacher should know their content very well. This is one of the most important things that I believe that I should do as a classroom teacher. I also believe that the classroom teacher is a model for the students. The students will watch them to see how they live their lives and how they react to situations that may arise in the classroom. I also believe that each child in the world today is a valuable contribution to society. Each child can fulfill any dream they may have, but I also believe that your dreams need to be reasonable. Each child can contribute something to society because the world needs farmers just as much as they need politicians. Another important thing that I believe should be focused on is to encourage students to seek the truth. I feel that this statement means that a student need to establish their own beliefs on issues, and they also need to be able to back up why they believe what they believe. These beliefs need to be personal. The teacher does not need to focus on their own personal beliefs, but also on beliefs that are opposite of theirs. A teacher needs to focus on the good and bad things on eac...
The class I visited is comprised of 24 five and six year old children, a lead teacher and a ‘Para-Pro” who assists the teacher and provides support and guidance for the children. Within the classroom itself, there are 6 tables organized in the center of the room in a grid formation. Children have their own workspace at a shared table. Around the perimeter of the room are ‘centers’ where each day, the children work on tasks such as listening, story development, gross and fine motor skills, math, reading and other important skills that are needed to develop socially and academically. In several places on the walls, there are displays or ‘brag boards’ where children can post their work that they feel best represents their efforts. The walls are brightly decorated and are filled with pictures, letters, numbers and other basic elementary school information. It is energizing and interesting without being chaotic or overstimulating.
I believe teachers should serve as role models and be the center of a classroom. In order to maintain that students stay on task and are all on the same page, the teacher needs to serve as a guide and direct the students. I do not believe that students learn best in a textbook based setting, but that textbooks are important when referencing material. I believe all students learn differently and look for new ideas or ways to teach lessons and concepts, so that my students can learn as effectively as possible. I also believe that a teacher teaches much more than the subject. It is very important for students in my classroom to something other than the subject that I teach. I want them to learn life skills that will help them in more areas and aspects of their life other than education. I believe my students should strive for hard work, dedication, and integrity, and go beyond learning just the content of a
I am a reflective teacher meaning that I take every characteristic of the class and students and plan around it. I love active learning which place children in an atmosphere where they feel safe and can participate in fun, learning activities. Children can learn from each other which also creates a positive, relaxing learning environment. If you walked into my classroom, you would very seldom see kids sitting at their desks in complete silence. It is all about maintaining control.
Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
As a future educator, I have many goals. My first goal would be to never overpower my students. Being a teacher should not be a job, it should be a passion. I will focus my classroom around the student’s needs, rather than my own. The classroom will revolve around the students. I will be their guiding hand through education. Another goal of mine is to have the students interact in a positive way. Social interaction is very important. As students combine with peers they share knowledge and learn how to solve problems. In the real-world, this what will happen. Whenever I can, I li...
