General Policies
Students are expected to arrive and be ready for their class. Dancers are to wait quietly in the waiting area until the instructor calls for their class Students arriving late are not permitted to walk into an ongoing class. Late students must ask permission before entering a class that is already in session. All dancers are expected to be respectful to all staff, peers, parents, and visitors. No gum, food or drinks are permitted in the dance studios except bottled water. Students may not sit down or have excessive conversations during class. unless instructed to do so by their instructor. Dancers will remain in a class level until the skills taught in their current level are mastered. Promotion will typically occur at the end of a dance season, but it may occur at any point in the dance year. New students may request an appointment with the director to assess skills and find the best class for the dancer.
Parents are asked to refrain from “peeking” in the classes, especially in the case of younger students. We offer parents the opportunity to observe classes during Observation Week. A conference with the teacher and director may be arranged if the parent has concerns regarding your child’s progress.
Make-Up Classes
NO credits or refunds for missed classes.
Make-up classes are the student’s responsibility. No call, no shows cannot be made up.
Students need to call the studio at (321) 209-0173 to let their instructor know if they are going to miss class. You are expected to make up any missed classes within two weeks of the absence there will be no makeup available after March 1. If you exceed 6 absences, make-up will not be
... social dance. Many people in today’s society enjoy social; dancing. Chapter eleven dance concert, properly planning and establishing a dance concert is of the utmost importance. The partnership with the lighting designer usually takes priority over all other factors. One of the most important issues concerning customers has to do with mobility. The dancer must be able to move comfortably in the costume. The task of producing a dance concert is an overwhelming and tiring one. There is a monthly open school morning that the PTO has in the auditorium for parents to come by and be informed about what is going on in the school. Various programs and grades offer workshops and meeting. Every Tuesday from 2:40pm- 4pm the school has that time frame allotted for parent engagement. Parents do not have to wait to meet with teacher on the two designated parents teachers conference. Each Tuesday, the parents can come in and meet with any of their child’s teachers without an appointment. The parents can discuss any concerns or issues regarding with their child’s academics or behaviors performance. Also, the school engages parents by using an electronic system called N-grade. N-grade is a parent portal where parents login and look at their child’s assignments. The portal shows their child’s assignment grades, missing assignments and assignments they can make up to earn back their grades.
Some teachers do not allow any talking during class at all, even when students are just working independently. Students need to be able to collaborate with each other to help each other out and create new ideas. If a student says something that the teacher does not like the teacher can punish the student, an example of this is the case of Bethel v. Fraser; Matthew Fraser gave a speech to the school that contained offensive and sexual references and then officials at the school then punished him for saying those things (What are the free expression rights of students in public schools under the First Amendment?). The teacher can also send that student to the principal and the punishment could end up being suspension or expulsion. In the past, Sam’s family has not been very supportive. However we know that parental feedback can greatly help assess a strategy that has been trialed with a student. By getting Sam’s parents on board with monitoring his academic and social behavior, the teacher can thoroughly assess Sam’ progress and the effectiveness of the introduced strategies, with their feedback.
It may be important to observe a child but at the same time it may mislead you into being judgmental, too soon. For instance, if you observe a child misbehaving, not getting along with the other children or talking back to the teacher, you might get the impression that he/she is a 'bad' child and you might treat and act differently with that particular child.

Teachers in college for the most part don't really care whether or not you are in class. All it means is that if you are not there, you are going to get a failing grade if it happens too often. Missing too many classes will cause the teacher to withdraw you from the class, resulting in a failing grade. If you do it the smart way you would withdraw from the class yourself because then it would have no negative effect on your overall G.P.A. In high school the teachers are always on you about attendance. If you miss too many days you can fail. If you are not in class they want to know why. They also want a note from your parents excusing you from class. Some schools even want your parents to call you in sick if you are not going to be there. If you do not have a note they can write you up for an unauthorized absence and, give you a detention.
Choreographers choose music, create dances, help with the artistic aspects of shows, teach difficult dance moves, and assist with budgeting; however, they also need physical strength and stamina in order to dance that much (“Dancers” para. 17). They create routines, teach them to dancers, and must rehearse them a majority of a time (“Choreographer” para. 1). They may be obligated to travel or work weekends, and their work hours are irregular (“Choreographer” para. 5). Observation is important as the practitioner can find out what the child is interested in and what motivates them to learn alongside their progress and how they behave in certain situations, additionally at the same time it identifies if children need assistance within certain areas of learning or socially (DCSF, 2008). Furthermore the observations check that the child is safe, contented, healthy and developing normally within the classroom or early years setting, over time the observations can be given to parents as they show a record of progress which helps to settle the parent and feel more comfortable about their child’s education. Observations are not only constructive within learning about an individual child, they can be used to see how different groups of children behave in the same situation and how adults communicate and deal with children’s behaviour (Meggitt and Walker, 2004). Overall observations should always look at the positives of what children can complete within education and not look at the negatives and all observations should become a fundamental part of all practitioners work alongside reflection (Smidt, 2009).
All participants including staff exit the school building through the nearest exit. Once all participants are out of the building and are waiting at a safe distance away from the school. The teachers will take a body count for all participants in their group count as a way to make sure all students are accounted for. Once all the students are accounted for all groups return to the school building since attendance is taken at the beginning of program we take a count of all the participants then return to their classroom to resume their regular program schedule.
While studying or even registering for a class presents a challenge to some college students, the greatest obstacle remains, going to class. Attending college is supposed to signify a new found freedom to make many important choices regarding education without high school mandatory attendance policies. However, students everywhere are coming to the staggering realization that college is not too different from high school. Teachers still take class roll and students are still expected to be at every class on time. What next, hall monitors in the hall? The time has come for action to be taken. Colleges must abolish mandatory student attendance policies for several reasons to be further discussed.
In the classroom I am observing in I have watched how the teacher and the students start and end their day by following different procedures for ex: attendance, portfolios, grades, and class rituals like morning meeting, transitions and end of the day procedures. All of these procedures and rituals contribute to the classroom culture and are parts of instructional practices. So when the students come first in, in the morning they have morning circle where they do attendance, weather, lunch choices, how I feel today chart and much more. Each student has a job during morning circle which rotates every day so not every student has the same job. So attendance is kept and done at morning meeting everyday which is important for the teacher to keep
Every teacher must have a set of classroom routines and procedures to maintain order in the classroom. When entering the classroom, students will enter in a quiet manner. They will sit at their assigned desk and have all material ready to begin on required work. Once the bell rings and the door is closed, students will be seated and working. Tardiness is unacceptable and if the student receives more than three unexcused tardies per nine weeks, a referral will be given to the office and a phone call will be made the parent or guardian. Also, students should not be more than three minutes late to class. This will result in an automatic referral to the office.
Telling your child's hobbies, pets, as well as learning difficulties and strengths will provide for a more intimate school year (Spencer, 2001). One of the ways in which parents play a critical role in their children?s social development is by encouraging their interactions with other youth (Updegraff, 2001). If children are able to work in group settings, this will not only help the child get along with other students, but it will also lessen the amount of disruptions in class thereby making it easier for the teacher to teach (Barbour, 1997). Parents need to stress the importance of little things your child can do to smooth the teacher?s day and help himself learn, such as listening when classmates answer questions, writing his name on assignments, and keeping his desk and work area tidy (Spencer, 2001). Parents can help your children avoid interrupting. Teachers love enthusiasm but yelling out too often will cause unneeded disruptions. Explain the good times to speak, such as when the teacher is inviting questions and the not so good times, such as when the teacher is talking to another student or giving directions (Spencer, 2001). Practicing these classroom manners will help with less disruptions and a better teaching and learning environment. Parental involvement promotes emotional growth of a child. The attachment between a child and parent is a long-lasting, emotional, learned response. It is the attachment in a parent and child relationship that forms the basis for a child to trust or not to trust their environment (Gestwicki, 2000). This proper attachment is essential for a child to trust other adults, such as their teachers and also to trust other students and make friends.
