Human Resource Sergeants are required to be professionals in the Human Resource area while balancing the role of being a professional leader within the Army. The expectation of this balance causes Human Resource Sergeants to create and maintain professional relationships with subordinates and superiors. This relationship must be enforced to create an environment that is conducive to a positive and productive work environment. Establishing this relationship is key to everyone understanding their roles and preventing situations similar to Baghdad in 2003, as explained in the reading of the article “The Profession of Arms”. (The Profession of Arms, 2010) The relationship that Human Resource Sergeants create should also include a limited personal relationship. This relationship should contribute to subordinates being groomed into a future professional Human Resource Sergeants and show the importance of establishing this relationship with peers and knowing that there is a balance in roles. Human Resource Sergeants who properly create this environment must be a professional and strive to be the best professional they can be in the Human Resource field thru effective communication. Today’s environments often present obstacles that cause Human Resource Soldiers to perform their duties in some unfavorable conditions. These conditions not only challenge Human Resource Sergeants but also often challenge an entire section. These challenges are noted by the customer service that is rendered to customers. When Human Resource personnel fail to conduct any aspect of their field it often shows up in pay, benefits, and most importantly morale. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief analysis of the United States Army’s organizational structure and its culture and how these two elements impact its workers, associates and affiliates. This paper will first examine the Army’s history, development and structure to highlight the origins of the Army’s culture. Secondly, a brief history of the Army’s organizational development will be followed by a close examination of its philosophy and supporting beliefs. Lastly, this paper will discuss the role of the Army’s leadership, their response to critical issues and the organizational structure of the Army. An analysis of the army’s top leaders will help the reader to understand the Army culture more thoroughly in the context of the Army’s organizational structure. More specifically this section of the paper will examine the Army leadership’s response to the current geo-political environment and other related issues. In conclusion, this paper hopes to highlight the Army’s overall functioning from an organizational standpoint and emphasize that idea that the Army is like a functional corporation. Human resources (HR) goal is to strengthen the employer-employee relationship. They must ensure that a company most important asset or it’s human capital is being nurtured and supported. This goal is supported by a variety of functions within the human resources department and throughout the organization. The various disciplines of HR require expertise in compensation, benefits, safety, payroll, recruiting and training. Even though it is not a revenue generating source, HR management needs to be effective because implementing methods and strategies can show result throughout the functions of an organization.
