Balancing Roles in the Human Resources Profession The purpose of this paper is to cover the importance of a Human Resources Sergeant in the Profession of Arms. Human Resource Sergeants are required to be professionals in the Human Resource area while balancing the role of being a professional leader within the Army. Human Resource Sergeants somehow manage to become a professional within the organization when the balance and separation of roles are achieved. When neglected customers are often upset and frustrated due to the imbalance. Human Resource Sergeants serve as Human Resource professionals in the profession of Arms in many ways. The expectation of this balance causes Human Resource Sergeants to create and maintain professional relationships with subordinates and superiors. This relationship must be enforced to create an environment that is conducive to a positive and productive work environment. Establishing this relationship is key to everyone understanding their roles and preventing situations similar to Baghdad in 2003, as explained in the reading of the article “The Profession of Arms”. (The Profession of Arms, 2010) The relationship that Human Resource Sergeants create should also include a limited personal relationship. This relationship should contribute to subordinates being groomed into a future professional Human Resource Sergeants and show the importance of establishing this relationship with peers and knowing that there is a balance in roles. Human Resource Sergeants who properly create this environment must be a professional and strive to be the best professional they can be in the Human Resource field thru effective communication. Today’s environments often present obstacles that cause Human Resource Soldiers to perform their duties in some unfavorable conditions. These conditions not only challenge Human Resource Sergeants but also often challenge an entire section. These challenges are noted by the customer service that is rendered to customers. When Human Resource personnel fail to conduct any aspect of their field it often shows up in pay, benefits, and most importantly morale.
