Life Happens
For just about every kid you really enjoy high school and really don’t think about what you are going to do after you graduate other than the fact that you know you are going to continue or to college of some kind. Well then there are the others who are not thinking about where they are going to go to college, but what job they are going to find so that they can support your child that they just found out that their girlfriend is having. You talk about an eye opener for those kids. Yes they may be eighteen years old and getting ready to move out on their own, but they are still kids getting ready to raise a kid. This is where it gets scary.
It is the half way through your junior year and you have been having a great time. This is when the first slap in the face comes. You are talking to your girlfriend and she tells you that she is late. The first thing that runs through your mind is, “Late for what?” No sooner does that go through your brain and it hits you what she is late for, and that is when your heart hits the floor and like every other guy in the same situation you open your mouth, “Are you sure?” Like a girl not knowing when she is late for her period is kind of like a guy not knowing if he had an orgasm. After some guys have a few more beers and freak out for a few minutes, or hours, they think that they can not do this and that the girl should get an abortion. Sometimes the girl is right on board with this, and the baby is aborted and the teens lives go on like nothing ever happened. At least until the girl gets a conscious and starts thinking about what she has done and what could have been. This will bother the girl at least sometimes. It might bother the guy but not usually.
Then there are other guys who after their freak out period they decide to take responsibility for their actions and tell the girl we will make it through this, we can do this. This is where the real story begins. Not only do we have two kids getting ready to leave the nest for the first time and learn how to spread their wings and fly, but they already have their own baby to teach how to do this also.
The average age of high school graduates is 18 which constitutes them as adults. Many students believe they can survive on their own right out of high school because they are legally considered
Imagine this, you an eighteen year girl old who has decided to become sexually active with your long term boyfriend. This raises a lot of issues for you. While you are interested in beginning oral contraception you are not comfortable talking to your parents about sex. Even if you could talk to them, the chances they would pay for your birth control are slim to none. You do work but $30 a month for the pill on top of the cost of condoms takes up a large portion of your pay check. Do you decide to wait to be sexually active or do you take your chances?
Teenage girls often get pregnant and do not know the first step in becoming a mother. Normally, when a teenage girl gets pregnant, she is less likely to attend college according to “Women Issues” by Linda Lowen. Some mothers are not even sure who their baby’s father is and many babies get aborted. The majority of single teen mothers are living in poverty. “Almost all our teen mothers are low-income, poorly educated and low-skilled.” (CNN) One third of mothers actually have a college degree and 23.2% are unemployed. (www.singlemotherguide.com) People under the age of eighteen are still developing and are not ready to be
The completion of high school is the beginning of adult life. Entitlement to public education ends, and young people and their families are faced with many options and decisions about the future. The most common choices for the future are pursuing vocational training or further academic education, getting a job, and living independently.
High school, for me, was a time where I began to discover who I am. I became more invested in my studies and started to realize my interests. As a result, I began to contemplate possible careers. Biology was a subject that I enjoyed immensely in high school, therefore I decided to major in Cellular Biology. I also have a passion to help people, and I would love to become a doctor one day. The plan seemed simple enough, however, when the time came to transition to a college student, I
Although teachers are meant to teach this, a lot of teenagers will not understand or may just dismiss the matter and will learn from television or other teenagers and may be misled in to believing certain things about the matter e.g. The hit television soap ? Coronation Street? had a story line involving a teenage girl who got pregnant and her life turned out fine with no disadvantages. Although some girls may believe this can happen, it is very unlikely. I also feel that parents should not have to bear this burden as it may be embarrassing or uncomfortable explaining this to a
Im worried about a lot of things and one is seeing the real world you are no longer a kid you have to be on your own and i'm scared that the college that i want to go to might not want me ,but let's put that aside first after reading 100 things to do after graduation it made me realize that i want to get my drivers license so if i get pulled over i could have the right information i need instead of going to jail or getting a ticket and i want to be able to tell people i did something useful instead of ruining my life and start out strong.
Here’s the thing about everything in life, it must come to an end. I have never been so thankful for this rule to also apply to high school. If I would have known that “the best four years of your life” was going to be like this, I wouldn’t have put that kind of pressure on it. Trying to make just another fours year of school the best of your life is hard and honestly anticlimactic. In a short summary it is four years of waking up to sit in class to go to lunch to go back to class to go to practice and go home and study until midnight to wake up and do it all again. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone should consider that to be the best four years of their life, unless I didn’t get the memo and did it all wrong. But not only that, you’re 18, or 17 if you’re like me, and you have already seen the best of it, måkes life seem a little more empty then. And everyone pushes to graduation, but when it comes you’re faced with another slew of people, because those who don’t say high school is the best four years of your life then say that college is. College, the last chance to grow up before the real world takes hold, when you’re a legal adult but the “real” adults aren’t quite ready to accept you as their own yet, that is
As teens grow and mature, preparing to leave the nest, go off to college or an occupation and
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life.
Colum McCann’s 2009 novel, Let the Great World Spin is a riveting novel about love, death, and the ability of the human spirit to prevail in the midst of extreme tragedy and loss. The book opens as the citizens of Manhattan gaze into the sky with disbelief and awe as they view the Twin Towers tight rope walker, Philippe Petit, a French acrobat who is one hundred and ten feet in the air in August, 1974. Although Petit opens the introduction of the book, the actual true main characters are the ordinary everyday people down below. Petit’s death defying feat was a central event within book to display the lives of the rest of the characters inside the book. Even with New York City’s population being in the millions, McCann demonstrates to the reader just how small the world really is and how they are all connected in some way, whether in the small or grand scheme of things. The author writes, “It had never occurred to me before but everything in New York is built upon another thing, nothing is entirely by itself, each thing as strange as the last, and connected”. Hope is a central theme of the story, revealing that humankind has a triumphant ability to continue on even in the harshest of circumstances.
High school years are supposed to be a time for fun and exciting events in every adolescent's life. There are parties, ball games, and local after school hangout joints where we can meet. All combined to making high school the most memorable years of any teenage girl?s life. However, my experience in high school took an uneventful turn in tenth grade. My carefree ways had to end and a new wave of responsibility was presented to me. I found out that I was two months pregnant. My thoughts tugged at my conscience, how was I to tell the father of my unborn child? Would my mother support my decision? I had to forget about my partying ways and hanging with my friends. My freedom days of coming and going were about to be over and I quickly became the girl about whom everyone was talking.
I’m pretty sure that everyone can agree on this, especially if you’ve been through it before. I’m not talking to the adults of course because I know your lives are difficult and what not, but I’m mostly talking to the teens who are currently going through the same stage of life that I’m in right now. Now I’m not saying my life is difficult by any means because I know that I am actually very lucky, but I’m just talking about the things that I carry. I mean the pressure kicks in as soon as you reach the age of 13. You're trying to get into that big fancy private school with a castle as the cafeteria.
Tsai and Wong (2003) acknowledged many risks factors, which is a contributor to teen pregnancy. The influence involves numerous sexual partners, drug abuse, unprotected sex, use of or lack of contraceptives, poor attendance, school performance, and lack of family support, etc. Teen pregnancy is a main issue in every health care system, and affects a young girl’s ...
When we are having fun, time passes swiftly away. In contrast, when we have nothing to do, time hardly passes by. A second seems longer than a minute, a minute longer than an hour. However, 10 hours seem just 10 minutes when its fun, when we are engaged in something we enjoy doing. When we talk with a broader point of view, we say life is t short to live to the full if we are enjoying our life and still have millions of things we want to do but know we can’t because life’s just too short. But for someone who is not at all enjoying life or whatever he/she is doing, one is too afraid to live life to the full, life is too long. For such people, life could have been more fun had it been shorter. Interestingly, it seems they don’t know that life is until you live, when u don’t live u live like a breathing corpse. It is then not living a life because for wise men living is something totally different to staying alive. For them, life’s just too short to live.
