It is proven that this class helps student in other classes and their future job and or career. In class we did persuasive speech, interpersonal role play, and small group presentation.
In class we had to persuasive speech and we have to present it in front of the class. The persuasive part will help me to influence the people around me, and to become a better public speaker. With the persuasive speech, we had to do an outline, with that outline, it helped to keep my topics organized and to make sure that I will cite my sources out loud. And since we had to get up in front of the class, my public speaking has improved a lot. I will use public speaking outside this class because other classes I will probably use this in future career.

We had to use empathy and we had to learn how to use paraphrasing skills. My role play was between two siblings, having a conflict over who was going to use the car that night. Taylor asked months ago to use the car, but Riley really wanted to use the car that night. Riley would say “I understand that you have to drive,” and Riley is paraphrasing words from Taylor. As humans, we do not use empathy as much as we think we are, but we are using sympathy more, however, Riley said “I know you are really wanting to use the car.” Now I know how to use empathy more clearly. In the workplace, not everyone will get along with each other and it is very important that anyone should try to make it professional. So I will be using paraphrasing and empathy in the future to the other person that I may be having a conflict
I am a qualified solicitor and in this role I have developed my communication skills. On one occasion I was representing a mother who was a victim of domestic violence. The father wanted to see his children but the mother was not allowing it due to the domestic violence. I acknowledged her concerns regarding the contact and explained that I understood why she would not want contact to take place. I also explained to the mother the courts view in terms of contact and domestic violence cases. I highlighted the fact that if she allowed contact without going to hearing she would still retain a level of control. I suggested that contact take place at a neutral location and be supervised by a friend or family member until she was comfortable with this arrangement. The client was reluctant but highlighted that the court would want some form of contact and she would have to adhere to this. Over the recent four months in Communication 1402 class, I have addressed three formal speechs and completed a number of chapters in the corresponding textbook “Communication Works”. This course of Communication aims to provide general information what public speaking is and how to address a public speaking. Recalling back the experience during the processes of completing the Speech to Imform, Speech to Persuade, and Group Presentation, I will draw a conclusion about this course and these three presentations in five aspects, comprising my previous perception of public speaking before this course; learning from the Speech to Inform; the goal and evaluation of Speech to Persuade; learning from the Group Presentation; the most important thing learned from this course.

In every profession communicatiis important. Good communication skills, no matter what you plan to do in life, will help you out greatly and improve your chances against a harsh job market. I am majoring in Business Administration and Law, and communication is one of the biggest parts of business and law, yet communication is hardly ever taught in business classes for my major. I think that a communications class like public speaking, for example, should be not just for a college class, but taught in high school and middle school as well. I believe several classes would allow anyone to become an expert speaking. The only way to fully learn public speaking is to get up in front of people and talk to them. One can not learn public speaking from a book.

In order to convey this idea towards anxious students anticipating a mentally taxing course, I’ve developed three tips to prepare the upcoming prospects for a semester of public speaking. First, it is integral that the student does all the work assigned to them within the time allotted without slacking. This will give the student ample time to prepare, making room to edit last minute tweaks and changes to the speech, as well as room to practice properly. Secondly, practice the main content of your speech as much as possible and expect to forget minor details. Once you have the important points memorized, you can always adapt on the fly to external and internal distractions. Also, try speaking aloud to a corporeal being, an audience of one is always better than an audience of none. Lastly, design each speech around a topic that you are passionate about. If you are truly interested or connected to your topic, the passion shows to your audience. Your speech will flow better when the audience believes that you believe in what you are saying. Communication is essential to human life. Every aspect of our daily lives is affected by our communication with others. It can be different types such as verbal, nonverbal and written communication. It is indeed a complex process filled with countless elements, all of which play an important role. The process of communication between human beings has been studied and analyzed outwardly since the beginning of time. The term itself cannot be defined in only one particular way because communication exists in a certain context and is dependable on the communicator and the audience. Example of describing communication is as “the transmission of information, ideas, attitudes or emotions from one person or group to another (or others) primarily through symbols” and “social interaction through messages” (McQuail, 1993). Furthermore, Watson and Hill describe the process of communication as “one which begins when a message is thought up by a sender, who then encodes the message before transmitting it through a particular channel to a receiver, who in turn decodes the message with a certain effect as an outcome” (Price, 1998).The complexity of the whole process is seen through the use of verbal and nonverbal communication on a daily basis, as well as the ability to interact with other human beings on multiple levels, mentally and emotionally. We begin communicating the moment we come out of the womb and do not stop communicating until death. This essay will try to compare and contrast two different communication contexts- interpersonal and mass communication, by using relevant communication models.
I gave a 20 minute presentation 16 times a day and the conclusion four times, I got use to public speaking very fast! The two stations I did during the dealer waves were about the same product but delivered a completely different message. In one class I talked about the ease of use and comfort of our mowers and the other was about strength and longevity. It was a good mix for me to have and had me learn that much more about our products. I also think it was very beneficial for me to give our conclusion. This helped me a lot with my public speaking because I stood in front of the entire group and tried to get them engaged in what I was saying. It was very important for us to get every dealer question answered the correct way or follow up with them if we could not find the answer. This is where my studying came into play so I was confident and precise when I was asked questions. If I did not know the answer to a question I would find someone that did or take the contact information from the dealer and follow up with them once I talked to a product specialist. I also got to meet multiple field team members that I will continue to talk with throughout my career. The ones that were in my station and the others I met were all very willing to talk and answer my questions. I got offered to follow some of them in the field and would love to take
Before I had attended this module, my biggest aim was to understand how we communicate with each other and how we adapt our speech to fit the situation we are in. As I am combining Communication, Media and Culture with Film Studies, I wanted this module to help me build my confidence so that in the future, I can pitch my film ideas confidently. It was important for me to develop my communication skills as this would enable me to express myself clearly and concisely.
At first I thought I would never make it to be a motivational speaker. However, this class has really altered the perception and understanding about me as a public speaker. It has enabled me discover the potential I had in this field. At the commencement of my classes in public speaking, I thought I would be a boring public speaker, less convincing, less persuasive and would freak out if asked to offer an impromptu speech. But it has come to my light that in fact this is the field where I would want to pursue my career in, it is the field that my dream lies in. I realized that I could make excellent speeches, entertain my audience and always keep them eager to expect my next words.
