Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s) formed in the 1970’s. There are two organizations that fall under the MCO umbrella commonly known as HMO’s and PPO’s. With HMO’s, the primary care physician acts as a chief liaison, thus organizing services and treatment for the patient. With the organizational structure of HMO plans, patients must see the PCP to access specialized services they may need; however, PPO plans allow additional flexibility for the patient by allowing the patient to choose providers within the network relieving the primary care physician of acting as a gateway keeper.
Medical Assistants are the ones that the patient sees first; they are the face of the healthcare facility. For the past 10 years I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I love my job but I want to do more. Any job in the medical field is great, because it will always be needed no matter what. Doctors, nurses, techs, etc. are all very important and necessary people, but the people behind the scenes are just as important, medical administrative assistants. Being a medical administrative assistant seems awfully difficult, you have all these responsibilities but at the end of the day you’ll have a sense of satisfaction because you may have possibly really helped a patient or family with a serious and hard situation. There are different types or categories of medical administrative assistants, you have the front office, the back office, the clinic setting, private practices, and the floating position. Duties for
The Nursing Home Administrator (NHA), a representative of the board “is responsible for the day-to-day management of the nursing facility.” (Singh Douglas, 2016 p.334). As a representative of the board, the NHA is accountable to the various stakeholders implying corporate compliance responsibilities, but corporate compliance laws and regulations are just the basic requirements. Governance effort goes beyond ethical and legal responsibilities “doing what is right” (Singh Douglas, 2016p. 334). The NHA must govern with vigilance and integrity and take corrective measures before issues turn into “legal and ethical dilemmas” (Singh Douglas, 2016). According to Boyle et al., 2001; P. Willging,
The first job I am going to discuss is the department director position. Department directors are highly trained in the business aspects of health care, which includes inspecting the integrity of all clinical and financial data. They are also responsible for ensuring that providers can access accurate and finalized health information whenever and wherever they choose to. Department directors also oversee the coding staff to make sure that they are entering accurate coding information for reimbursement and clinical care purposes. Education can include a bachelors degree in HIM or HIT from a program accredited by the CAHIM and a master’s degree or doctorate-level education. This particular job would not be of interest to me because I would not want the stress and demand that
Managed care, as it relates to providers healthcare, can be defined as a patient that only sees the doctors and specialists that are in their health plan. In compliance to this agreement, the co pays are lowered by a managing company who oversees all health care interactions of their clients. The reason these costs are kept significantly lowers is because the company has contracts with particular healthcare providers and hospitals. There are three different types of managed care plans that are available. These are Heal Maintenance Organizations (HMO), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), and Point of Service plans (POS). Each is a little different from the other, but provide the same basic service, managed health care.

Part C includes all benefits and services covered under Parts A and B and usually includes Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D) as part of

People that are interested in this line of work like activities that include leading, making decisions, and business. They have integrity, have leadership qualities, are able to take initiative, and are dependable people that can handle a high stress level. I learned from my results that I am more of social person and the interest profile would recommend me doing something that helps people or being of service to people, which I feel that I am able to do in this profession. I also was ranked highly in enterprising which means that I like persuading and leading people which I think is a great asset as well for being able to run a major facility and work with many different people this seems like these would be essential traits for this position. There are a variety of different areas in health care. Unlike some people may assume, there are many more places one could work other than a hospital. Nurses, dentists, and doctors are usually the people one would think of when he thinks of health careers, but there are many more people who play an important role in health careers. One can work as a counselor, nutritionists, pharmacists, or even a fitness trainer. One could work at a school, nursing home, assisted living, or doctors offices. There are many more programs in health care, one just has to find where he fits best and work his way up from there. There are so many different choices of careers in healthcare, so a person can choose a health career that interests him best.
