Doctors, nurses, techs, etc. are all very important and necessary people, but the people behind the scenes are just as important, medical administrative assistants. Being a medical administrative assistant seems awfully difficult, you have all these responsibilities but at the end of the day you’ll have a sense of satisfaction because you may have possibly really helped a patient or family with a serious and hard situation. You need to learn to multi-task or already be good at multi-tasking which means you need to be able to find patient charts, communicate well with the RN’s and physicians, and be able to assist the patients when necessary. You will also need to be able to answer phones and deal with patients and families. This can all be pretty stressful at times but anything can be stressful. The problem is medical assistants don't get paid what they should. They have so many responsibilities but don't get paid like nurses and other higher professions. Medical assistants do just as much as nurses if not more and get paid around half as much as nurses get paid. Every medical assistant knows how much they are going to get paid when going into this field so it is a choice, that they chose. But it would be better if they were to get paid more for everything that they do. Anyways, In my own opinion medical assistants don't get paid what they should for everything that they learn and do in college and in their workfield.
