During the Honor’s college conference on undergraduate engagement, I attended the Habitat for Humanity session and the health care session. Both of these were very intriguing and I fairly enjoyed them both. Although they were equally enjoyable, I must say that the Habitat for Humanity session was the utmost interesting of the two. I felt it was a very worthy cause for those in need and living in unsafe conditions. The nonprofit organization allows families within a certain income have a new home built with no interest rates and the organization will work with families on their payments. Getting involved in our community allows us the opportunity to meet new people and have a greater understanding of all cultures that you may encounter. Community engagement can assist one in their academic learning and create connections with professionals that can help you establish a career. There’s hundreds of thousands of nonprofit organizations in the world, so why not be involved in one? Organizations like these are what turn the world into an overall better place. I think it is our duty to help those less fortunate around us. The conference made me realize that I, along with other college students, should take the initiative to be more involved in my community since the slightest occurrence could cause the biggest impact. Also, it made me realize that reaching your goals is not easy, it takes time and you should never quit. If college students all over the world would step up and become more involved in the community, we could make all the difference. We are the generation that influences others and we have the power to persuade others to be involved as well. The younger generation looks up to us and we should set a positive example for them. You could impact someone’s life just by volunteering your time and efforts. I also learned that no matter what your goal is, do not give up, over time you will find your way. Organizations appreciate your volunteer work more than you realize. Finding an organization that truly interests you is best to pick up involvement in because you will enjoy your volunteer time and you can have an educational benefit as
