UNCW Involvement Carnival

Last Wednesday I went to the UNCW involvement carnival. There were tones of tables and people packed in shoulder to shoulder as they searched through clubs, businesses, religious organizations, and community members looking for a community of friends, a service, or just free stuff. Free shirts, tank tops, sunglasses, frisbees, stickers, notebooks, bracelets, pens, makeup, coupons, food, drinks, and many other free items were being thrown out everywhere. I stumbled through large crowds, passing by a rush of other college students, all with different destination. The culture of the carnival was like nothing I have ever experienced. Through the UNCW involvement carnival I learned about different community groups, I became interested in new clubs, and I was able to get tones of free stuff. Community is important in the life of every individual. It is important to become a part of something bigger than your self. While at the involvement carnival I got to talk with a group of people from the Scotts Hill Baptist Church student ministry. I was able to get shirts, tank tops, sunglasses, frisbees, stickers, notebooks, bracelets, pens, makeup, coupons, gym bags, pencils, paper clip holders, key chains, bibles, fans, chap stick, food, and drinks! I was walking around with I giant 17th Street bag full of all of the free stuff that I was given. Some of the items I didn't really even want or asked for. As I walked down the rows of tables I was constantly being handed random things to shove in my bag. My favorite thing I got was a really cool pair of Aspen Heights sun glasses that have a wood like frame and UV protection lenses. I wear the sun glasses when I drive to school in the morning and I look really cool in them. All of the free things being handed out was the most fun and memorable part of the involvement
