Many people are for the use of group projects while others are against the use of group projects. I am personally for the use of group projects because members can evenly divide the work between each group member, it strengths the student’s communication skills, and students can help each other out. First, I am for the use of group projects because members can evenly divide the work between each group member. One reason is less work. When they work individually, they are responsible for doing all the work, but since it’s a group project each member is assigned a part of it. They won’t be stressed over on how much work they have to do because your group members will also be assigned other tasks for the project. Work will be done faster because the more people they have, the less work each member will get which allows the group to finish faster. Not only do group projects allow members to evenly divide the work, but they can also strengthen the student’s communication skills. …show more content…
Communication skills are very important because when students communicate with one another a smoother process can happen. Communications skills can help them throughout the future because when the time comes they will have an understanding of how they would communicate with others. In group projects, they can explain their ideas because the point of the group project is to express them, they can hear what others have to say about your ideas and see if they would include it in it or not. Students would have an experience already on how it works in group projects. It is important because when the time comes again they will be ready to go. In addition to strengthening the student’s communication skills, group projects also let students help each other
Normally in a group, the work will be divided into the number of members in the group and may be arranged to each of the members to receive the part where they are more confident and have more knowledge of it. In addition, if a member is confused with their work, he can receive assistance from his teammates rather than just being alone and figure it himself independently. However, I believe sometimes been in a group can have its cons. A common pitfall associated with working as a group is disagreement about the way something is being done, a particular issue, or an opinion. Sometimes one member might have his own beliefs and want to perform a task in their way and conflict can arise from this. Once conflict arises, the members can discuss their own opinions and might arrive to a solution, but this can cause a member to not show their full potential because something was not done the way they wanted. I believe this is very common but if you are open minded, it can be overcome for the sake of the team to be
The concept of a group proposal is to form a session plan that offers therapeutic services to a certain population. To compose a planning, the procedure for this development must follow a certain framework before it is accepted by both supervisor and potential members (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2014). Therefore, a proposal must include the purpose of creating the group session, meeting times and place, recruitment planning, and group objectives and size. Subsequently, the type of group, multicultural and diversity awareness, the use of methods related to group goals, and assessment techniques must also be taken into consideration.
If you are studying together it is very helpful, and you will get a lot done. Also, with a group mind, if you are doing a project for work/school there is always somebody there to look over your work, just in case you mess up. Then, if you are doing a project with some a lot of calculations, having a group is very helpful. In case you mess up or just do not see a mistake you made on a calculation and correct it, so you do not have to get some points taken off for getting it wrong. There are pros and cons to this subject matter, but I think the cons outweigh the pros.
At Delta High school, a student may choose to either work alone or to collaborate with a group in order to finish a project. Both choices offer pros and cons when it comes to efficiency and the quality of work. In a group setting, students may get sidetracked, or the group itself may not be able to function properly. On the other hand, group projects allow broader opinions and valuable peer reviews. Choosing to do independent work will benefit the student’s work ethic, but will also increase the work load. So which is the better choice? The answer is found in the history of the world’s progress in science and technology. Technology does not excel solely from independent work, nor does
Domestic violence (DV) is a pattern of behavior used to establish power and control over another person through fear and intimidation, often including the threat or use of violence. Domestic violence can include physical, emotional, psychological, financial, and/or sexual abuse. Abusers may use pressure, fear, intimidation, separation, and other behaviors to gain and retain power over their victims.
Moreover, the group communication that set the member by teacher gave me the useful lesson about how to communicate in team and how to reach the team to the goal. However, there was not useful in some part of group communication assignment because of every group didn't apply knowledge from public speaking course in our second year in their presentation, most of them read the script and don't use their own words in the presentation so I cannot understand the content of presentation as expected. Therefore, I think some part of team presentation were not necessary. Teacher should teach theoretical foundation for all six topics include team dynamics, meeting management, conflict management, intercultural communication, negotiation, and virtual communication by himself, and let the students present about the application of the theory in their real life situations, so we can gain more knowledge about theoretical foundation of each topic from teacher and learn how to work with other people. I think teacher should add more case study or the application of the theory in real life situation because we should analyze all knowledge of a theoretical foundation to find the application of
put us in a group project. The project we had to do was to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks, and see how many textbooks it could hold without breaking. In this case working in a group project is better because others see the flaws you create and fix it when you would not notice it. An example of a flaw is when I thought only two parallel sides would hold up those heavy textbooks. When we observed it, we realized it would fall quickly because the weight would not have been distributed nicely. I am for group projects because it lets kids share knowledge together, so you could get the greatest grade you could possibly get.
When working on a group project, there are certain skills that are required to make sure that the tasks are being carried out smoothly. With that in mind, it is critical to keep an open line of communication as well as an understanding of the other individuals in the group. The following scenario is of a group project I was a part of that had a breakdown in the two points expressed above.

When there are three or more students all focusing on the same topic, the students often build their knowledge. Every student has a different perspective on each and every topic they talk about in school. This could help because combining all thought processes into one assignment can help scores go up and students excel in school. Students also use group projects for constructive criticism. Constructive criticism helps students learn from their
If the entire group gets the same grade, all members on the project should contribute equally. Question #4 Do you think that it is fair for group members to expect other group members to submit work that will help the group earn an A on a group project/assignment? Why or why not?
A group can be defined as ‘any number of people who (1) interact with one another; (2) are psychologically aware of one another and (3) perceive themselves to be a group’ (Mullins, L, 2007, p.299). Certain tasks can only be performed by combined effort of a group. Organisations can use groups to carry out projects, which will help to achieve its overall aim. However, for the group to be successful, they must understand what is expected of them and have the right skills to complete the task. . Mullins, L, 2006.
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. By fairness I mean allowing everyone the chance to do something. This group project taught me the ability to be a team player. This is a skill needed to be successful in a group. I feel like it benefit me and my group members because normally
In my experience and in this small group project I would be one of the more vocal people. By avoiding intimidating or shutting anyone out, it is important to have each person brain write to avoid any hesitation from others. In my current small group, we partake in electronic brainstorming. Each of us sat down at a computer and found articles that we thought was best fit to the solutions to the problem. After finding our articles we then posted them to google docs where we are now in the process of evaluating them. This makes it easier for everyone to find articles that connects to them. When we tired of thinking of new ideas we take a brake and talk about each other’s lives. I like to as all my groups what we plan on doing over the weekend and we also do it in our class when (Dr. Davis) asks us how our weekend was or even what is happening this weekend, giving us a break from thinking about school related items so we can start fresh. Brainstorming is important to do and is the best way to come up with the best
