As a millennial, I feel confident in us, in our ability to bring about change, our eagerness to make an impact and to reach our highest potential as a generational cohort.
IV. Visualization. So, I want you to image what we’ll be described as if we allow resilience, (ability to adapt and bounce back when things don't go as planned) to dominate our characters, imagine what will be said about this generational cohort if you make the choice or continue, for some of you, to allow your resilience to show more above all characters. This will not only benefit you as a person, but our generational cohort as well. We’ll be understood more and people will hopefully see ways in which we can contribute in excelling the institutions or the business and any other domain.
V. Call to action
So, I urge you to consider resilience in your characters in all your life endeavors. Remember that resilience is a person’s ability to overcome quickly from difficulties and toughness. And this might be a different process for each one of you, and for many of you it might takes weeks, months and years, but the important thing is that you consider it because your character matter and it is crucial for us as
Resiliency is one concept that has never been the human races forte. Many things that happen in our current day and age require a great deal of perseverance and resiliency. People often will give in to the problems in their lives and learn to accept them, instead of persevering through them and working out the issues. The fact of the matter is, if you learn to persevere through problems, your life will be a lot more happy and pleasant to live. In Tennessee Williams’ play, “ A Streetcar Named Desire” suggests that you cannot give up on issues; you must be resilient to those issues and persevere to be happy.
Millennials are accused of being tough to manage, behaving entitled, unfocused, lazy, narcissistic; however, they seek to have a purpose that they love and make an impact. Yet, the more they receive, they are not happy. Sinek jokingly states that they could be offered “free food and bean bags, because that is what they want, and they will still not be happy.” According to Sinek, there is a missing piece for millennials, furthermore, he goes on to say there are four characteristics that make millennials the way they are, “parenting, technology, impatience, and environment.” (2016).
Most millennials are hard workers and also smart, being the generation of technology we utilize what we have because it has works for us in multiple occasions. We also are the only generation that is better at switching from task to task, it’s not hard for us to move forward because of our great work ethics, and our ability to work with new and advanced technology. The type of experience that the Y generation has will affects how our lives will continue to be in the near future.
Therefore, millennials spark the interest many different people with countless distinct opinions. Lauren Hansen had bountiful data to back up her perspective that millennials are lazy, entitled narcissists in society. Joel Stein had the opposing optimistic argument that millennials are the start of something great and positive change and will continue to be advantageous to society and revolution. I personally believe that millennials should not be taken granted, for they have so much to offer to us and to our future.
The authors reasoned that the millennials are special in that they were wanted as children and “have absorbed the adult message that they dominate America’s agenda” (p. 60)” (37). She also states that “, In addition to the unique traits ascribed to millennials, there have been serveral key health, academic, and sociale concerns associated with his generation.” (38)
“At the heart of resilience is a belief in oneself, a belief that can be fostered and strengthened”, Argues Hara Estroff Marano in her persuasive article “The Art of Resilience”. The belief in oneself, a strong enough self-esteem, and a reminder of the strength oneself has goes a long way in the pursuit and achievement of resiliency.
Resilience is something that I had learned through my hardship in senior year. It was something that was discovered during my most stressful time and saved me from further making myself sick and poisoning my own brain with thoughts of doubt.

Peers, subordinates, and superiors influence and guidance can greatly vary the way we react or handle different situations. I do believe that personal resilience is not only built on your values and upbringing, but is influenced by the people you work with and interact with on a daily basis. I also believe that your level of resilience can vary greatly by the situation. I think the number of people in the situation can easily sway your views or lower your personal resilience. In a large group, one does not want to be the outsider if your particular personality lends itself to it. On the other hand, you may be the type that enjoys being the devils’ advocate. Either
Like the definition of resilience, and the process of resilience itself, the manifestation of resilience is multidimensional and complex. A simple response is that resilience is a favorable or good outcome, despite serious threats to adaptation and development (Windle, 2011). This may mean happiness, physical health, emotional wellbeing, and life satisfaction (Lavafor, 2008). But, more often, it is ability to continue to function, despite obstacles. To adapt both internally and externally to and show competency in the self and one's environment in a developmentally appropriate way (Masten, Herbers, Cutuli, & Reed, 2009; Lafavor, 2008). Windle (2011) states that resilience is not the absence of distress because risks and stressors are a part of development. So rather, the maintenance of competence during and despite distress is one of the strongest forms of
Around the world, many people are faced with adversities and constant obstacles in their life that they will have to overcome. People often have to face adversities such as death, poverty, illness, disabilities, and environmental issues on a daily. Many people can overcome the adversities they are faced with, while others may struggle and need help overcoming their situation. Never the less if a person fails or succeeds in their attempt of overcoming their situation, this is still a part of their resilience.
Firstly, resilience does not eliminate stress or erase life’s difficulties. Instead, it gives families the strength to tackle problems as they come, overcome adversity, and be able to move on with their lives. According to Welsh (2012), “No families are problem-free; all families face ordinary problems in living” (5). As a family unit, it is essential to remain stable through disruptions. Resilience in the family comes from having a structure that encourages and supports a balance when managing challenges. Family members need to be flexible and open to change. They need
