“Apparently millennials are tough to manage and they're accused of being entitled and narcissistic and self-interested, unfocused, lazy.” (“Simon Sinek on Millennials in the Workplace”). Interviewed by Inside Quest, Simon Sinek talks about the four factors that cause millennials to have lower self-esteem, poor coping mechanisms, crave instant gratification, and be unsuccessful in corporate environments. I strongly agree with Sinek’s claims about millennials as parenting, technology, impatience, and environment play key factors in the success of millennials. Patience is needed in life, from starting to walk as a baby to starting your first job. Millennials are impatient, this affects their mental health as they become unsatisfied with life. I belive in order for fulfillment, one must take time to appreciate life. The need for instant gratification tests the impatience of millennials. The corporate environment highly impacts today's millennials as there is no aid to build one’s confidence. Prior to entering a job, millennials have a lower self-esteem, can’t cope with stress and are impatient. Now in the workplace, they are thrown into “(...) corporate environments that care more about the numbers than they do about the kids.“(“Simon Sinek on Millennials in the Workplace”). There is no chance to build their confidence now, it’s too late. The corporate environment does not aid in the well being of the millennials. It is now the company’s job to attempt to regain their confidence. I agree with this claim because millennials are now completely thrown into the real world without the proper skills. I agree with Sinek that it is not the millennial’s faults now, it’s the corporate environment’s fault.
