Keeler C. English 100 Procedural Analysis Essay In this day and age, it really seems that overall health is a big initiative pushed by many people and big corporations. We all go get gym memberships, and say we are going to be healthy, yet most of us have no clue on how to go about doing this. We are confused and scared because we just don’t have a single clue on how to attain that “superstar” look. We don’t have the thousands of dollars to shell out on personal training like the big A-list Hollywood stars, so what do we do? Well, we can learn simple tricks and tips on how to achieve personal health as well as achieving our dream physique. In this overall look at health at health and fitness, I will teach you how I eat well, buy supplements on a budget, and exercise efficiently and properly. Most people use the same justification when it comes to eating wholesome and healthier foods. They always say that they cannot afford it, or that they don’t have the energy to cook or prepare food for the week. Well, if we have the energy to eat out six times a week, or if we can afford to spend money on fast food every day, we can easily prepare meals and eat healthy. Firstly, you want to eat lean proteins and make these a huge part of your every day diet. These lean proteins are best, because they make up most of our caloric intake and they help us get in shape. Items such as chicken breast, tilapia, turkey, and lean ground beef are all prime examples of what lean proteins are. Secondly, we should focus on our carbohydrate intake. Carbs are actually not the devil, and in most cases are actually beneficial in aiding weight loss. It is when carbohydrates are paired with saturated fats, trans fats, and sugars that they start to lose health... ... middle of paper ... ...ace. I recommend cardio 4 times a week, with weight training 5-6 times a week. Weight training is beneficial because it actually allows us to burn calories at rest. So you’re burning calories while watching the Walking Dead or sleeping. Try to go to the gym in less crowded hours, because this leads to more effective workouts. We don’t workout our best in a packed gym on Monday nights, we just don’t. So try to go in the mornings or in other slower times. Health is an achievement that we should all strive for. We all can live long, happy lives and prosper greatly of we just focus on ourselves and block off the outside world and its stress for a few days a week. If we can look good and feel good, our perspective changes and things do change for the better in our lives. If we eat well, are smart with supplementation, and work out efficiently we can achieve greatness.
Isn’t everyone’s goal in life to be able to achieve something amazing? Better yet what about setting great goals as an individual? Wouldn’t you like to better yourself as a person? As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets”, this simply meaning that a person must be “hungry” and have a great drive to be able to achieve greatness. The feeling of greatness and satisfaction that a person will get from being a healthy, fit individual is unexplainable. Being satisfied with your own body is a very important factor to life itself. People that are healthy are known to live healthy lifestyles as well as to be great in age. There is no negative sides to being healthy, people that are healthy are happy. I plan to take an individual and better them by training them and making them a healthier person. The steps I will go through in order to make this happen are steps such as training the person, making a nutritional plan for them, and being there to support them along the journey. I will be training the person using some fundamentals that have worked for majority of world-class athletes. I plan to use simple bodybuilding tactics as my muscle builder, such as old school techniques that Arnold Schwarzenegger used in the golden ages of the sport itself. As my research has shown, my client and I are both pleased with the “golden era” physiques and we plan to make a healthy/fit body molded like the bodies of that “era”. In this project my client and I have decided to base the “nutritional plan” as a high protein/Low carb diet, which I will release in this paper. Through out this project, it should be well know that this is not an easy sport! And the discipline to stick with it is extre...
In the nineteenth-century women were oppressed from society and they had to stay home as housewives, cleaning, cooking and doing the household work (Jamil, 2009). Their rights or value in society were restricted and confined. Although this is true, these concepts has drastically changed over time. Women are more independent and really try to better themselves by studying and working. In literature, we are able to view the roles of women years ago. Women expectations during that time period was to be married and bare children. This is exactly what happens is the short stories The “Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant and “The Story of An Hour” by Kate Chopin. The authors display women as repressed and unhappy with their lives during the nineteenth century. In both stories, the authors utilizes symbolism and irony to portray the story of two women that have different stories, but end tragically.
The new diet revolution has stirred up a controversial debate on whether the higher fat, lower carb diet is healthy in the long run for diet consumers. Some people say that it is not a healthy diet and that it includes too much fat, while others say it is the only weight loss diet that has finally helped them to take off a significant amount of weight. The diet became an instant craze since it has been proven that many Americans eat excessive amounts of simple carbohydrates such as rice, alcohol, sugar, white flour, and sugar. As a result of the surge in obesity and high calorie intakes, the Atkins diet aims to eliminate the simple carbohydrate consumption by replacing it with high fat, high animal protein foods such as bacon, sausage, butter, steak, eggs, and brie. These rich foods are allowed as part of the diet since it claims that you will lose weight fast while just following the routine.
When it comes to health matters, everyone becomes attentive. People believe that with good health, one can virtually accomplish anything that they desire. This is the reason to as why health is given all the attention. It is important to have a clear understanding of the meaning of the term health, healthcare and systems that are put in place to facilitate healthcare.
‘Health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’ (World Health Organisation, 2011) This definition was first cited by the International health conference in July 1946, and the definition has remained the same. Health is a way of life which is reflected upon every individual, factors such as the condition of your body, has an impact on your health overall. Additionally, if an individual being is fit and in good shape, they are more likely to make healthy choices. Presently, in society around 10 million adults in Britain smoke, (BBC News 2007).Take the example of cigarettes, much of the known effects of smoking include heart disease, lung cancer, heart attacks and much more. Yet adults around the world are constantly engaging in this habit which ultimately deteriorates the health of a being.
The definition of health generally varies from person to person; for me health is the state of well-being; whether it is physical, mental or social well-being. When making health decisions many people, myself included, consider finances before making decisions. For an example before joining a gym I consider the cost and quality of the gym before considering how vital exercise is to my health. The same goes for diet I often hear people say eating health is much more expensive than eating unhealthy. Being healthy comes from putting in effort; physically, mentally, and economically.
You can medically be in the best shape possible, but if you are under a lot of stress, your mental health is compromised, which can lead to isolation from others, and now your social health is being neglected. It’s just one big cycle. Focusing on all components of good health such as eating a balanced diet for your physical, finding stress relievers for your mental and spending time with friends and family for social, is taking positive preventive measures to stay healthy. It is not only our responsibility, but a community effort to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to achieve and maintain overall good health.
Creating an individual health and wellness plan helps you plan for your future of creating and /or maintaining a positive, safe lifestyle by addressing underlying issues. “No matter how hard we try and no matter what skills we bring to bear, some problems remain out of our control. When this is the case, we can tell the truth: ‘It’s too big and too mean. I can’t handle it.’ In that moment, we take a step toward greater health” (Ellis, 2015, p. 320). Problems and their solutions within a health plan can be evaluated through five different categories: Diet, Exercise, Rest, Safety, and Health Support. Today we will discuss how I was personally affected in each of those areas and how I plan to implement a solution.
Following a healthy lifestyle has now become an emerging trend. Research and many studies have proven that merely exercise will not entitle an individual as healthy. A good nutrition
healthy is a major component in ones’ overall wellbeing, more so mentally, but being healthy
Being healthy is something that I put allot of emphasis on sense I was young. Sports and training soon lead to a focus on nutritional and now mental well-being. I understand the effects of stress and negativity and have been making strong efforts to both separate myself from the negative elements. Some life changes and a wonderful life partner have made this goal and lifestyle well worth the time investment.
Health is described as physical and mental well-being and freedom from disease, pain or defect. However, such descriptions only superficially define the actual meaning of health. There may be many occasions when individuals are not necessarily ill or in pain but may be overweight, stressed or emotionally unstable. Health is a quality of life involving dynamic interaction and interdependence among the individual’s physical state, their mental and emotional reactions, and the social context in which the individual exists. There are many factors that influence your health, but three major components contribute to general well-being: Self-awareness, a balanced diet and, regular physical activity.
According to our text book, health is “by simplest definition, being sound in body, mind, and spirit” (Hales, 2003). It is impossible to improve your body and mind without the spirit coming along too. I feel as though I am spiritualty fit, I have purpose and I live in a state of gratitude and optimism as much as possible but I am excited to see how much better it can be once I reach my goals.
First, I will address the root issue of many people’s eating habits, and then I will expand on why and how to develop a healthier lifestyle.
Having a healthy body can contribute to an individual’s overall well being and happiness. In the reading about virtue and health by Gary Ferngren, we learn about the meaning of ‘virtue’ in the ancient world which referred to the “quality or proficiency of men…” instead of in reference to moral behavior (Ferngren 176). The Greeks considered health to be essential to one’s virtue. Maintaining a healthy diet will help an individual perform better. Personally, I find that healthy habits are beneficial and uplifting for the soul. Those days when I eat right and am active, I am in high spirits, I feel good, and I am more motivated to achieve things. According to new US dietary guidelines, most Americans “don’t get enough health-enhancing and disease-preventing nutrients” which is a major problem that is not only physically detrimental, but also discouraging in terms of one’s mental health (Mayo Clinic Staff, “New dietary guidelines” 3). When I feel healthy on the inside, I have greater self-esteem and confidence and this is really important when it comes to how others view themselves or they potential. It also helps to maintain a positive outlook on
