Throughout the progression of time, there has been a constant influx in weight
amongst individuals. Historically, individuals lived healthy lives, which was evident in
the manner in which they ate and the daily labor brought about by a different era of time
and living. Within society today, nutrition and physical activity are not of the same
importance as historically it was to so many individuals. The research question of appeal
is does physical activity and nutrition play a key component in maintaining a healthy
lifestyle? The independent variable, is the amount of healthy nutrients and physical
activity decrease the likelihood of obesity and weight related health conditions and
increase overall healthy living lifestyles. The dependent variable, ever present, is that
nutrition and physical activity are leading factors to an overall healthy lifestyle.

1. Sample and Delivery
The sampling methods employed by the research team for the chosen topic
of nutrition and physical activity was gathered thru surveys conducted and
processed using the hints database (Health Information National Trends Survey).
By gathering information based solely upon obtained responses, allowing for
researchers to not only project, but also make educated guesses base upon the
information received and proven to hold true.
2. Variables
Hypothesized response is: (1) The null hypothesis claims, individuals who do not
eat enough daily fruits and vegetables to maintain good health will also lack physical

Glycemic index is the measure of how quickly blood glucose rise after eating a particular kind of food. This is used by estimating the how much each gram of carbohydrate consumed raises a person’s glucose level. During intense exercise, the body uses glucose as energy source before it starts relying of fats. “Prolonged exercise can only be continued when there is an adequate amount of carbohydrate available to fuel muscle and the brain”(William,2004). This shows that the amount of carbohydrate/glucose that is found within the body’s tissue has a significant amount of influence to play on how effective the early hours of an exercise would be. Nutrition basically means having a good diet and getting good exercise. To have a good diet, you should eat mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy proteins, and healthy fats. You should also drink water instead of sugary drinks and alcohol. You could also use the Healthy Eating Plate as a guide to eat a more healthy, balanced meal. The recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day is about half of your plate such as; corn, apples, pears, broccoli, carrots, and green peppers. About a fourth of your plate should be filled with whole grains, such as, whole wheat, barley, oats, brown rice, and whole pasta. Around another fourth of your plate should contain protein. That includes fish, beans, chicken, and nuts.
Over the past two decades, new research has significantly enhanced humans’ understanding of the brain’s development and function. Consequently, the effect of nutrition on brain development is increasingly acknowledged. Therefore, this report aims to evaluate the importance of nutrition for children’s cognitive development. Cognitive development is the growth in thinking and learning skills such as problem-solving and memory, which continues from childhood into adolescence and throughout adulthood. Since the human brain development (which correlates with cognitive development) primarily occurs during conception and the first years of life, this report mainly focuses on nutrition’s role in early childhood cognitive development.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.

Knowing the proper food to eat before, during, and after a physical activity can help an athlete in achieving their desired performance.
The majority of people in this society try to exercise and eat right to stay healthy. The problem is that they worry more about exercising and not getting good nutrition. They do not understand that exercise is not enough to be healthy. In order to be healthy, people should be aware of what they eat. This may not be easy for everyone, but one can get support from family and friends in order for it to be easy.
