I am writing to express my sincere interest in the “Class of 1982 MHSA Scholarship”. As a first year Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) international student, garnering financial assistance would aid in reducing my financial need to cover tuition and allow me to focus on my studies. I meet the application requirements of collaborative leadership, spirit of camaraderie, and financial need. Additionally, as I am currently in my first semester I propose my undergraduate grade point average (G.P.A) of 3.5 as a biology major and chemistry minor. I believe my G.P.A speaks to my work ethic and projected success in the program. Complimenting my academic status are my current collaborative leadership experiences in the MHSA program. In my “Healthcare in the U.S” class, students are given several issues to analyze in small groups and present to the enter class. Each week, my group of four students research issues that affects …show more content…
If members of the team neither trusts nor have an amiable relationship with each other, they tend to be less willing to collaborate. Currently, I engender a spirit of camaraderie with my cohort by participating in several group activities in and outside the classroom. A subset of the cohort created an intramural team, “212 locomotives”, where we currently play soccer. Through this weekly activity we learn about each other and develop strong bonds. From this experience I was able to approached Tara Haskell, MHSA class of 2017 president and member of our intramural team, about increasing networking opportunities among each class year. Thereafter, we scheduled a bonding event for October 17th that will allow both the class of 2017 and 2018 to better acquaint themselves with each other. This sets the stage for increased and continued camaraderie among the cohort that could transition into the work
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
As a student that is currently seeking a career in the medical professions, I have had to routinely contemplate my reasons for pursuing such an extensive education program in a field that is constantly demanding excessive time and effort. I know of students—many friends and acquaintances of mine included—that have the most sure-fire, inspirational stories that align with their desire to become doctors, surgeons, physician assistants, etc. They always seemed to have a story that emphasized their desire to “give back” what they have received from the medical community. Because of that, ever since the beginning of high school, I have been trying to find an extraordinary reason, a purpose for my medical pursuits. Perhaps I could justify my passion for
A collaboration of community, cultural awareness, leadership skills and peer helping skills are some of the traits necessary to be a successful Resident Advisor. During the Leadership Workshop, I learned new methods of improving all areas that have changed my outlook on what it takes to be an RA. I will carry all my experiences and the material I have learned in the workshop and use the knowledge I gained whenever necessary.
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
Over all, I believe I embody the type of person this foundation is trying to help through this scholarship. When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.

Many people in Nigeria don’t really know there is scholarship essay, where you’re allowed to write an essay in order to win scholarships. Instead of using scholarship websites to search for free scholarships, you have to do an essay competition.
Leadership in the medical field is vastly overlooked. Many people view leadership in medicine as a rise in ranks, in positions of power within a hospital or organization. They look at it as personal gain, a title, and less like a chance to actually lead anything, to actually impact anything. Since taking these leadership course, I’ve come to view leadership in the medical field more like the model I recently learned about, Komives’ and Wagner’s Social Change Model of Leadership. In their book Leadership for a Better World: Understanding the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, ...
I am a senior at Hayes who strives to be successful by working hard. My hard work and dedication for success is evident in everything I do. I have worked my way from main stream classes to becoming one of the highest ranked seniors in my class taking all honors and AP courses. I also partake in many activities with in and outside of Hayes like the National Honors Society, where I hold the role of a public relations officer, Marching Band, Chess Club, and the Robotics Engineering club, a club which I co-founded that is gaining a lot of attention in and outside of school. Outside of Hayes I am in programs like the Opportunity Network, Ladders for Leaders, All Star Code, Sankofatech, North Bronx Ghana SDA Church Youth Choir, North Bronx Ghana SDA church IT department, and I even co-founded a Non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Africans through education.
On top of my comfort level at being a leader in all levels of education, I now feel that distributed leadership is a crucial part of leading. Before this program I
Moving into a country of unfamiliar traditions and eccentric society, I faced a lot of challenges. However, it was these challenges that provided me with the determination and dedication to work hard and strive for success. I was born into an athletic and educated family in Ecuador, and day after day without stopping I gave my best to achieve my gymnastics and educational goals. Falls, injuries, and tears were rewarded with reputation, pride and gold. Those medals and awards had more emotional value than material, and they came to symbolize all my effort.
