Do you like your school cafeteria? In our heads there are many things we wish or want to change. You may not like the way your cafeteria serves food, the color, or possibly the setup. A cafeteria should be a place that you want to look forward to going to for a little lunch break. Some people may enjoy the way their school cafeteria is while others can probably name a thousand things they would want to change. I will tell you some of the things I would personally like to add and change. For example, I would like the food and the setup to be buffet style. I would want there to be a section for every food and type of food you could possibly imagine. Many people don’t like the food they serve. They would probably prefer home cooked meals over the school food we have now. Many people like myself would love there to be food from places all around the world. School lunch would be much better no matter what food they serve from what they do now.
In addition, it would be nice for there to be comfortable seating. The benches that are connected to the tables are hard and not comfortable at all. It would be nice for there to be some bing-bags

I would want there to be pool noodles, floats, basketballs, and tons more fun things to mess around with. It would also be lovely to see a lazy river where you could float down while enjoying lunch. Something else that might be fun would be some waterslides to go down when your bored or just to get a little thrill. Just to make it look decent there could be some fountains that you could sit by to relax. One thing many people would probably enjoy would for there to be a place that you could sit in the water at a little station to eat your lunch, so you don’t have to get out of the water. Imagine that you walk into a cafeteria and you see children in line to buy lunch. The lunch is burnt and cold. You see the kids who bought lunch sit down and start asking people for food, they say no. At the end of the lunch period the kids lunch trays still have all the food on them. The children are starving and a lot of food was wasted. You don’t want that right? I believe that our school should get a new lunch menu because many students do not like the food served, there are not many options, and there are many problems with the food.
We got to do an obstacle course. We also had a water slide and snow cones. My favorite part about last years was the dodge ball tournament. For this year I am hoping we can get two water slides. It was fun with one, but it would be even better with two.

The end goal of this proposal is to come up with a food truck that will be located in Harrisonburg. A demographic will be targeted and marketed to. The food truck will not be tied down to one spot but will, move around the Harrisonburg area, based on the ever evolving market. The food truck will come up with a specialized menu with a limited variety, but focus on quality. Many people do not like the monotony of everyday food choices, and often look for new places. The food truck will try innovative choices that break away from the monotony of everyday choices. “Would you eat it?” A simple question expressing so much. As most know, and have probably experienced, school lunches are not as high quality as they could be. Though the federal government emplaced many rules and regulations regarding school lunches, the food served, in reality, isn’t healthy, visually appealing or flavorful and should be improved. As a student, it is quite disappointing to see there are no fresh fruit/veggies or good quality food available. “Schools should offer more healthy options, fresh food and less junk food” (Blais). What is being served is impalpable. It all comes back down to the same four word question, “Would you eat it?”.

If you observe students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don’t often see them buying these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans wrapped in tortillas), “burgers” (meat slapped on two slices of bread), etc. Even the chicken nuggets aren’t very popular. And the price is great! $3.75-$4.75 is not worth such “garbage”, as a teacher would say. Out of the 25 students I surveyed, 56% stated that they would like to see their cafeteria changed.

The cafeteria is not merely a place for small children; now that I am in college, I spend more time in the cafeteria than ever. Living in the dorms, I have no kitchen or any other place to cook. Instead, I have a meal plan that offers me fourteen meals each week at the Stanford/Hecht cafeteria. I eat lunch and dinner there as my two meals on most days. But, I do not and cannot go to the cafeteria and just get food. I get much more.

In the food service, we find: bartenders, wait staff, hosts, busboys, chefs, cooks, managers, and dishwashers .The food service workers perform a variety of customer service, food preparation and cleaning tasks, all that which are very important to keep a business running. More concerning , some of the major working conditions that foodservice workers face with daily is no health benefits and significantly low wages. These employees working in the food industry make it possible for millions of people to enjoy food in restaurants but are not being treated or appreciated fairly.
