Enforced Dress Code

Student uniforms or a dress code that emulates a school uniform should be required in schools, because wearing the uniforms will lead to students attaining a higher education, less violence, and lower cost to parents. I agree with Preger when he said that students and teachers will have to wear clothes that reflect higher education, meaning having to wear a uniform of some sort (Preger). Dress codes have been around for a long time, and have always promoted discipline in the higher learning institution. At one point only the rich and powerful could afford to send their kids to such higher learning institutions, and now the school system wants to equalize. By incorporating a dress code policy, students will feel safer at school, because everyone will be equal and have no real reason to tease or provoke one another. Fashion distractions and all associated problems will be a thing of the past and so students will be more willing to interact with one another. Parents will also be able to save a little more money due to the fact that their costs will go down, and won’t have to worry about their kid’s safety anymore.
Student dress codes aren’t anything new and are getting very appealing to most academic institutions and parents, because they provide safety and promote discipline. This is very appealing to parents because they won’t have to worry about their kids being mistaken for opposing gang members, or being made fun of at school for not being able to afford name brand clothes. From an academic institution view point a dress code would bring uniformity, enforce discipline toward learning, and will also improve the outlook toward success for many students.

...diocre education. Dressing the part encourages students to apply themselves in their education instead of dressing like a gang member or dressing like a hussy and acting out how you are dressed. A dress code will enforce discipline toward learning and at the same time it will lower violence, and peer pressure because the fashion distraction is no longer there. In addition it’s pretty safe to say that students act the way they dress. Like for example if you were to dress like a jock you would be arrogant and want to play or talk about sports. If you are dress like a gang member you are more likely to get into trouble. Dress codes aren’t a bad idea, they keep students safe, make them feel like they belong, disciplines toward learning, and lowers violence in the schools. Not to mention that it also helps parents save money and gets their kids more involved in school.
